unconfirmed, I caught COVID February 2020. It was the sickest I've ever been, doctors put me on antibiotics and just said to rest. Early March the official breakout happened

blessed to have not lost any close friends or family members to it, immeasurable person growth has happened in this time

only took like 8 people close to her to die from it, all unvaccinated.

just talked to the rep for a vendor of ours (out of state) dude has covid. definitely anti-mask/vaccine type dude.

im thankful i havent had any covid symptoms (im guessing at some point i had it but without symptoms just on the odds). i got sick for two days a few weeks back but i tested negative. it was basically just a runny nose, no other problems. other than that i have not been sick for over two years.

she hit me up and let me know she secured the bag for her fam. Doing lovely now

meanwhile.. her replacement tapped out.

but hearing her salary made me perk up and realize O need to secure the bag. I thought I was doing it (compared to my last gig I am) but there is a lot more out here.

I need to go get it.

work has rolled out returning to the office.

my team negotiated 1 day a week in person mandatory - the rest of the time can be WFH.

I've been iffy on this job for a while now. Its been 5 years and I am dumb bored out of my head, the projects have turned to shit and we're all being throttled to dumb down our work or to slow progress. I've been phoning it in for the past year because we haven't done anything worthy in YEARS. We're also being told to stop asking so many hard questions and to do what we're told.

Everyone that was here when I was hired has moved on. This is the sort of company where people settle in for life, doing 25 years is just getting started. We lost people who were here for 12 and 20 years. There are lots of new faces I don't know.

I'm this windowless office at a small desk with my legs cramped the fuck up mad that I can't go rub one out so I can focus.

Being here is just depressing and I know and have known for years that I have outgrown it.

My life has been on hold because I've been taking forever to finish my portfolio and resume.

There is more to life than this. I want something bigger, I want to be challenged and make more money.

started this job and don't know wtf I'm supposed to be doing. right now they have me 'training' and said this would last a few months. maybe I'll know something by then.

technically, I got demoted to get this position, but also got a good raise. falling up.

also, I'm tired of working from home. kinda hate it. probably hate that I don't really have the option to go in. miss being around folks and the office chatter.

and this relates to imposter syndrome

essentially, she went through a loooo-oooo-ooooong interview process spanning several months where in the end she had to assemble a deck (homework) and present it.

and after all that, the CEO says "I can't really critique you on anything you did...you did everything perfectly, you are overqualified for this job"

that fucked me up so so much because here I am thinking, the only way to get a job (no matter the economic climate) is to be perfect. so to see what happens when you ARE exactly perfect is...I don't even know what to do with that.

It woulda been hard as hell not to just go ham on the company/management after that. The real question is who did they hire in her stead? I have qwhite the suspicion.

No matter how you try to fix the system, they figure out how to game it.

This story has me mad and I have so many questions.

How did she find out about the job? Recruiter or did she independently apply online?

How did it take 5 rounds to determine she was overqualified?

Im just wondering if there is away to channel back the feedback that this was all some bullshit.

She adjuncted at a university.

They told her to apply for the full time position. We just knew she had it in the bag since the kids loved her and they kept submitting her dances to different shows and they were always the ones that were accepted.

She didn’t hear back from them for weeks. Thought it was odd or maybe someone was on vacation.

They told her they hired 2 white girls who were roommates at the same college. Fresh out of school while my wife had years of experience and wrote the whole curriculum for a university at her first college gig.

Stories of these 2 white girls crying in hallways because they can’t do the work. Still begging my wife to adjunct and set work on them so they can get accepted to shows. Fuuuuck Nooooo

That university has lost so many students and I believe they were denied their dance accreditation. As soon as my wife got a HS gig word traveled and they asked her to apply for a position that opened up. Fuuuuuck no.

She told them to never email an offer unless its tenure.

let me add the chair of the dept is an older white gay man. These dudes are not our allies.

my wife is senior leadership, she was "chief of..." in her last 3 roles.

the CEO providing feedback also said - "you could be doing my job..." so the whole statement was,

"you hit all the marks, we can't tell you anything, you're very polished. Your skills are beyond this role, you're very senior, you could be doing my job. And, consider (here is the other part that fucked me up) for your next interview with another company to maybe be a little less...polished, show them there's always a bit of room for improvement, be a bit human"

I don't think they picked anyone yet...I think they are still looking. They went from 80 applicants to a final 7 candidates and those final 7 (including my wife) have been through this stupid ass gauntlet of endless asks to run workshops, presentations, and analysis for months.

and being less polish means your wife is prolly Black with a capitol B.

My wife is polished AF and it intimidates Admin.

She keeps impeccable records and when she speaks or writes about dance movement it’s eloquent af.

and every week or 2 she sends an email asking why they keep fucking with her.. smh. Its always older white women and white gay men.

I'm under no illusion that this is a long term job, but I have a financial need to stay at least a year and come across a windfall.

And right now I don't feel like I'm contributing enough.

I'm involved in a lot. But I don't have ownership of anything and that feels like a precarious place to me that if someone was paying enough attention they'd ask why my role is needed.

At the moment my job is basically "hey this is car is going to crash off the cliff at x point, you need to make a decision by y, and here's my best proposal" ... but if nobody takes the wheel the guidance from the dude I work for is basically "shrug, that's their fault, you gave them the heads up"

ive been printing found models and it has been working well. i had one that required assembling the printed pieces together and they didnt quite fit. i did some minor sanding and got them to work but it bugged me.

the other day i decided to recheck the leveling and wanted to print some test models that are designed to show how accurate the printer is so i can fine tune it.

the test model wouldn't load up and when i re-leveled the bed it all went to ****

now all i can print is spaghetti. i've checked to make sure its level and nope. i see some filament leaking out once its up to temperature. i dont know where to start to figure this out.

i had seen a lot of posts of people with messed up prints and when mine was working well i was wondering why they were having problems.

im also avoiding working on my own models or even modifications. my hope was to jump start my creativity with this but not sure if thats going to happen. i havent had much free time since i got it so it might be mostly due to that.

hopefully i can figure out whats wrong with it and get back to printing.

seems like theyre very finicky. i havent yet gave up hope that theres no logic to it but i think it just has tight tolerances.

i swapped out the nozzle last night and leveled the bed again and boom working. i think i have it better than before but i am going to print some test models to see if there is any need for fine tuning. im hoping to be able to just leave it as is.

im thinking at some point i set the bed too high so the nozzle scraped against it. either that or im going to be swapping nozzles a lot more often than i expected.

i printed a couple of models last night and they look pretty good, i did do minor adjustments to the bed in some corners while they printed. i left a test model printing before i came to work. the first layer looked really good. hopefully i dont come home to spaghetti.

Bruh, you gotta blend up some meat, cheese and bread and load that into your printer, see if you can print a burger... for science, lol.

i saw a video a while back that showed they were 3d printing food with the exact nutrients older people needed i think in singapore.

In response to Reply # 15

the test model printed pretty weird. i printed a couple other test models and those printed pretty good. i then started printing a normal model and started getting lifting in a corner so i stopped it. this model was actually two large models i sliced together so i figured i may have messed up by doing that, might be better to just print each model by itself. i then started printing a small cube. a while later i heard a clack so i went to go look. i figured the filament spool got stuck. nope...one of the knobs to adjust the bed fell off lol

i stopped the model to put it back on but when i continued it there was a clear break so i just cancelled it and called it a night. i also noticed the wheels for the y axis were all gunked up.

hopefully i can figure whats up with that. i might need to contact the manufacturer about a new bed.

11/15 to 11/29. Came home to tons of mail - most for other people. Now I am back and waiting on something, hit the tracking button and it says “held at post office at customers request.” WTF!?

34. "My aunt thinks the pneumonia vaccine *gave* her husband pneumonia "
In response to Reply # 0

My uncle-in-law, who DIED form Covid 2 months ago blames the pneumonia vaccine for giving her husband pneumonia - which she thinks is what made him so weak that COVID could kill him.

Even though there is no evidence of any "live virus" pneumonia vaccine discovered SHE BELIEVES it.

He was in the hospital for 6 weeks - he may have cough pneumonia in there - PLUS he had Covid related pneumonia.

I think she's not my aunt anymore - she's a new person who just spews Facebook conspiracies.

TBH the fact that you're even a mod here fits squarely within Jag's narrative of OK-sanctioned aggression, bullying, and toxicity. *shrug*

Now personally I don't believe every accusation of misogyny is true and used in good faith so, for consistency's sake, I do think every accusation of racism is true just because a black person says it.
