KRS has one helluva catalog.

While I probably couldn’t name 10 KRS-One songs, I’m sure that if some begin playing I can hum along. We are really talking about someone (KRS) that is definitely on the Mount Rushmore of Hip Hop.

I’m now trying to think of 10 Kane songs that are universally known. I’m inclined to only be able to come up with songs made before and including those on “A Taste of Chocolate”.

I hope Kane doesn’t drop the Patti Labelle and Barry White collabs and try to explain them away with a story…or the joint he did w/Quincy Jones. That was a horrible period of Kane music at least to my then 15 year old ears.

Kane still got a dope show and plenty of songs. HOWEVER, KRS got soooooooo many songs!

the energy in KRS's songs will probably win him this vz. maybe if they actually freestyle battle, Kane will have a better shot.

and Ra's show was pretty terrible. folks were leaving during his interrupted set. he's the most revered of the 3, but had the least entertaining show.

Y'all buy those labels, I was born supreme

Rakim going on after PE tore down the stage at their peak during the Def Jam tour in Philly back in 88. I felt so bad for Ra... But it seems like he didn't learn anything from them times the way yall are scoffing at his live show now.

plus Symphony, Show and Prove, and Burn Hollywood Burn and get to 20.

KRS has more, but Kane can perform and get to 20. He will hold his own.

...from 87-90 though (the most important years to me) they are neck & neck

Kane's best songs from Prince Of Darkness on....

Brother Brother
How U get a Record Deal
Stop Shammin

And most people forgot or never knew theses to begin with...

KRS was just getting started with his "Solo" phase in 92/93 dropping 1 bonafide classic "Return of the Boom Bap"... the Self titled LP.. then then "I got Next" which wasn't a classic, but spawned one his most popular songs of all time along with a few other greats "A friend" and the previously released "The MC"

I hope they end it there because KRS dropped about 20 more albums after that but they never hit like his great 90s albums..

KRS all day..

but like I said.. if they start dancing???

Bc there might actually be dancing if so lol

Not sure if you caught any of it too but I randomly started watching that live audience Fat Joe-Ja Rule Verzuz and it was SO GOOD

The energy, the crowd participation, the shit-talking, the stage presence (mostly Ja Rule's), the cameos/feature artists being brought out etc

Basically a full-fledged concert

def the best possible way to deliver these matchups imho

But ya if you're certain Kane's live show is what would make him more competitive, we might get a chance to see lol

I've seen both, and Kane is GOOD but KRS is probably one of the greatest live rappers of all time.

The real winner: Younger folks not familiar with either but get hyped after seeing it.

It'll be a dope battle IMO

based on your life's soundtrack, I'm probably a few years behind you as Kane was my guy when I was at General Greene. KRS really REALLY took over Kane for me around Return of the Boom Bap.

I could see where Kane would need the bag
But I'm here for it.

That was in Russia!

His lyrical style is too raw, and its a battle style of
of rap, which will keep the heads nodding. He doesn't have a boring
rhyme form, and KRS' rhyme form is similar because he comes from the
same era.

His style of rhyming comes from battling and getting the crowd hype.

Kool Moe Dee
LL Cool J ( early LL)
KRS One
BDK
Chubb Rock

*They all had similar "prepare for battle" rhyme forms*

The only problem he could run into are people in the
audience not being familiar with his music, since he
had a shorter hip hop life span than KRS One. However,
from his recent performances overseas, he can move a crowd
that consists of divergent hip hip generations. But the hip
hop overseas is still in tune with real hip hop music,
so they want to hear authentic lyricism and boom bap beats,
regardless of the different age groups. I would imagine that, considering the artists who are performing, the majority of the
versus crowd will be real hip hip listeners who know and
understand the history of hip hop.
