"The really love review thread."
Sun Aug-29-21 06:39 AM by Binlahab

This will contain spoilers

You have been warned.

There's been a lot of hub bub online Abt how people want "no trauma" Black films

Movies were nobody is struggling nobody does anyone else wrong etc

THOSE STORIES ARE BORING.

no trauma in real life? Great.

No trauma in entertainment is dull. Cry about it.

This film...is intended for young women in their 2nd year of college to watch with their girlfriends after one of em has had a bad break up and the crew came over to the dorm room to talk shit and commiserate.

And that's fine!

But if you aren't in that demo? Yawnnnn

Ps the lighting was a disgrace. Whoever charged the production costs on their amex should get a refund because the lighting was BASURA.

Good shots of DC even though it was obvious to me which parts were not shot in the city (what up B-More).

Good use of DC slang.

Go-go still has never been properly captured on film. Maybe the next one.

Peace,

Spirit (Alan)

...was the awful! Such a cliche of real folk from D.C.

The story was weak, the ending was worse.

I wanted to like it. Had potential but fell way short.

dude is an artist, Darius was a poet, those are the only 2 remote similarities I see.

And I know most women think he is handsome but he can’t act at all lol

It felt like someone heard a Kem song and made a film out of it.

The leads were beautiful to look at but ultimately they had nothing to work with.

I watched it while putting my son to sleep late at night and damn near dozed off myself.

this film didnt need the hype it has surrounding it.

but, I'm really glad it was made because we need more black films where its not a story about struggle or a story of overwhelming black success
