Off top, 1960s Alabama, black family...... Wonder Years?
Why is this a Wonder Years reboot and not its own thing? From what I remember, OG Wonder Years was just a generic family show. ABC can't sell a black version of the same thing without a gimmick like this?

I “wonder” how they will deal with racism but I’m always down for a story about a Black family.
and I hope the name makes white people mad af.

eh.
2 seconds in, I immediately picked up on the sense that this will go one of two ways.
One way, the show struggles to find its footing, while it decides if it wants to try to recapture the magic of the original show or if its a new thing. After an initial spike in interest the show is quietly canceled after 2 lackluster seasons.
Another way, the show somehow just keeps going to a point where years from now while watching the Superbowl you see a commercial for the series and think "THATS STILL ON?" - because, no one, and I mean no one you know talks about it.
Possible third option: show is amazing as fuck, gets canceled after two seasons, no one talks about it but soon people realize an underappreciated gem was flying under the radar.

A good thing about TNOC is that they used the exact scripts from the original Odd Couple for a bunch of episodes - just had different people playing the roles.

not sure what the OP is implying but it sounds like he doesn’t believe Black people had fun in the South in the 60’s.
We always found ways to have fun and make the most of what we had as Black folk.
