Just the first initial cuts to level everything out, they didn't consistently start getting cuts until around 3. My oldest has sensory issues along with ASD, so when he was old enough to start getting regular cuts I started cutting it myself. Started off with basic caesar and a lineup, and over time got better (and better equipment) so I do all kind of cuts for both boys and myself.

Family lore said not to cut a boy's hair before he turned two, lest he go bald. So I was well past two, with long-ass hair down to my shoulders, before I got a cut. My son, who has thick curly hair, got a trim a little past his second birthday. I wish he'd get more haircuts (he's 7 now) but he likes his long locks.

My cousin's husband is a barber so he gave him his first cut.
He cried the whole time but sat pretty still all things considered and just gave him a quick and dirty low caesar.
I'm glad though because it got him used to it pretty quickly and by 2 years old he was able to sit thru a cut w/out crying and while sitting completely still.

I took him to my barber...this guy has been cutting my hair since I moved to Raleigh, NC in 98. Cut my hair during school, for graduation, when I got married and also did my son's first cut. Hell, he's in my son's "First Year" album book (before things became digital w/ smartphones, etc) LOL.
