voting anyway, especially for those who can’t make it to the polls?
Our monetary system has become electronic, our file sharing is electronic. People focus more on emails and paperless billing than getting mail through the USPS.
That would do away with the discrimination and subtle voter suppression tactics.

Camera phones have made it more possible for cops to end up at least having to go to court for some of the stuff they do to civilians.
Besides that, anyone with internet has access to good and useful information that was once far more difficult to get a hold of. The fact that most folks use the innanet to look at booties and bullshit is besides the point.
But I'm down with the idea that more digital stuff can lead to much more bold and ridiculous cheating.

which has been manipulated and duped on multiple occasions?
We live in a completely digital age now. As a population, almost everything can be transacted from our bedroom while wearing drawls. You’re not thinking or asking the right questions here.
I can’t recall the last time I physically stepped into a bank to withdraw money, even ATMs are close to becoming dinosaurs.
Online voting technology should be at top of the agenda.

It isn't a viable replacement solution.
>I can’t recall the last time I physically stepped into a >bank to withdraw money, >even ATMs are close to becoming dinosaurs.
That's a function of the types of transactions that can be performed electronically. Mostly we're talking about debiting/crediting accounts. You can wave a check in front of your camera and deposit it (which debits the issuer's account and that transaction pair can be verified). You ain't waving a stack of cash in front of your camera and have the same effect. Better go to a teller or ATM for that.
So, even in banking there are some problems that can be solved using online solutions, while other transactions can't (as long as there is paper money, you're going to need ATMs).
>Online voting technology should be at top of the agenda. The bigger, or root cause, problem is that this country doesn't want fair elections for everyone. It never has. Until you solve that problem, there's no online technology that would pass scrutiny.
That's the compliance piece. And in a place that doesn't believe in fair elections, what do you think those compliance policies will be for for online voting? Imagine the audit and recount circus that happened this past election cycle, except all the energy is about smartphone apps.

every year? No. Then stop comparing voting to filing taxes (or banking) online.
Voting has a different set of problems than filing taxes has. Simply saying we should be able to vote online just like we can file taxes doesn't address the problems unique to voting. Namely, that there are folks who have a vested interest in seeing votes thrown out.
Hell, they were trying to get votes cast on Dominion voting machines thrown out. Hard to do on systems that you can audit / show that they comply with regulations. And you don't think that won't be attempted if people can vote from their (mostly) unpatched computer or smartphone?
Yes, voting should be easy. But this country bitched over mail in votes. Mail in votes, dude. Trying to make voting easy ain't the problem.
