Nettrice is brilliant. That's not hyperbole. I knew she was smart, but I didn't realize how innovative she is.

Once upon a time there was a boy named Jon.

Jon was a normal little kid, not much different than all the other kids.

He wasn't fat, or slow or smart or handsome. Wasnt funny or mean. Wasn't a jock or a nerd.

Nothing was special or unique about Jon in Jon's opinion or anyone else's and so Jon just kinda...was there. Floating on the edges, not too noticable just...there

As Jon matured tho he got two unique things.

Two special gifts

God gave Jon...a voice. A very deep mellifluous voice

A voice that sounded great...on the radio.

And..she also gave him the ability to think in songs.

Meaning there was soon a radio station playing music in Jon's head 24/7

People told jon abt his voice immd.

They said hey you should be on the radio!

Jon pondered it. He listened to the radio. He had no real other plan in life and so...he decided...he would be on the radio.

And so it was.

When other kids said they wanted to play football when they grew up or be a jet pilot or a cop...Jon would be silent but in his mind he thought

I'm gonna be on the radio

Except...one thing.

Jon didnt know a gatdamn thing abt being on the radio.

Also...God gave Jon a voice. But he did NOT give Jon work ethic. Or much common sense

So rather than work toward this goal...Jon smoked weed, chased girls and made shitty grades in high school.

So when it was time to go to college...Jon was not ready...and flunked out.

Jon's mom (who denies it to this day) told him he had to either be in school or be on the streets...so jon enlisted

And he enlisted...in the marines.

Know what the marines don't gaf abt?

Radio stations.

So Jon continued on...not really happening in life but letting life happen to him.

One thing led to another and he found himself...out the military.

Back in college.

And this time...4 yrs older.

This time he knew what he wanted to do and did it. Got into a major of mass communications...and got a slot on the student run radio station.

For two years Jon played whatever he wanted to an audience of MAYBE 5 people who just happened to be passing by the station while he was on.

2-3 hrs. Every week. Playing any song he wanted.

Those were good happy times for Jon. He would do this for free if he could and finding out he could make a living doing it was incredible.

Years passed. Jon is a junior. Still being a dj. Still planning on being on the radio

But then...Jon's on and off boo said hey...I'm pregnant. Babies yours.

And suddenly all Jons semi thought out plans went out the window because...suddenly working for free wasn't too cool anymore

Suddenly working his way up working overnights for yrs in some small town on Nebraska paying dues...didn't seem so cool anymore.

Jon dropped out of school. And got a real job. Married his baby mama and traveled the world.

And then?

The marriage ended, as all good things must do sooner or later.

Jon found himself a single father. With custody of two kids. By that point his dream was to make it to the next day without running screaming into the night and leaving everything behind.

Jon focused on surviving...and the years went by.

Slowly...life got stable.

Kids grew up. Jon got further into his career.

One day he looked up...and took stock of life.

Tho he had some bad breaks it wasn't all bad. He had held things down...it wasn't a struggle to survive anymore. Ends were meeting. Kids didn't need his constant supervision to ensure they didn't burn the house down.

And he looked around at his life like...what now?

What's next?

Then a massive global health crisis erupted and locked the world in their house

In an effort to stay in contact with other human beings...Jon started a podcast with some friends.

And it was cool. People liked it. They listened and tuned in.

And once again people said hey Jon! You have a great voice! You should be in radio

Sometimes Jon would be at his job...and think...well...I have this radio station in my head.

And I have this voice.

Maybe I should try to get on the radio

And just as soon as he thought that...he would think nah and roll another blunt.

But then...after a year...a strange white man hit Jon up and said...hey.

Come tape a sample show on our radio station.

We wanna hear what you sound like.

Well. To say Jon was shocked would be an understatement

He went in...and did the sample show.

And now...well.

He doesn't know

But!

What he does know is...time is a flat circle. And if you keep going...you get thru it

on sabbatical.

does it really matter?

wonder what bin's doing?

my youngest niece this Saturday:

“now its going to be 5 mouths to feed because mommy’s new friend has a 2 year old son”

oh boy…

“he has a dog, a pit bull… and he is going to be my stepdaddy”

wait… what????

she even told her bio daddy: Mommies marrying her friend and he is going to be my stepdaddy

My nephew told me his dad was crushed.

Gotdamn kids say the wildest things.

TBH the fact that you're even a mod here fits squarely within Jag's narrative of OK-sanctioned aggression, bullying, and toxicity. *shrug*
