"Nearly 4000 fully vaccinated people have tested positive for COVID-19"
Mon Jun-21-21 03:59 PM by allStah

in Massachusetts.

https://www.bostonherald.com/2021/06/16/nearly-4000-fully-vaccinated-people-in-massachusetts-have-tested-positive-for-coronavirus/

I think it needs to be aggressively stated that just because you’re vaccinated doesn’t
mean that you can’t contract COVID. Vaccination protects you from the symptoms of COVID, because most of those cases were mild to asymptomatic.

I’m not an anti-vaxer, but I do believe that people still need to practice covid safety measures and protocols in dense or highly populated areas or situations....even
If they are fully vaccinated.

The fall will be upon soon, as well as winter, and with the many variants of COVID
pervading throughout the world, the pandemic is not even close to being completely
under control.

When they find that it represents only 0.1% of vaccinated people.
And especially when you say this:

>Vaccination protects you
>from the symptoms of COVID, because most of those cases were
>mild to asymptomatic.

but the data is showing that those vaccinated with the more efficacious vaccines (like Pfizer/Moderna) significantly mitigate the chance of both catching Covid and - perhaps more importantly - transmitting it to others. That's not to say that you can't catch and spread Covid if you're vaccinated (obviously) - but the chances are significantly decreased.

because it can be transmitted, and some experienced symptoms.

They are vaccinated, so it should definitely raise an eyebrow.

CDC is still studying it and I interpret the DPH’s recommendation to the vaccinated as meaning act as if it can be transmitted even if we’re not sure yet..

Which is a fair reminder that the coast isn’t completely clear.

The vaccines nearly eliminate the chances of a severe illness, which is great for those vaccinated. But if you have unvaccinated people in your life (children or people who just can’t get the vaccines for health reasons), you’ll probably want to remain very cautious.

that people just read that clickbait headline and think it proves it's pointless to get vaccinated

but i don't find that alarming at all. It's confirming that the vaccine is statistically pretty damn effective.
I'm sure the number is higher because most people aren't getting tested because they aren't feeling sick, which is again, good news.

i have one friend in the hospital right now on oxygen because he didn't want to get the shot. Probably because he paid more attention to dumb headlines about people getting sick after or from the vaccine, than all the people he actually knows who got the shot and are perfectly fine

I’m over this shit since I got the Pfizer shot.

My fear and concern for covid are so low it’s embarrassing. I almost feel ashamed to not give a shit anymore.

A lack of evidence for variants, fabricated evidence for variants, etc?

It's too easy to dismiss shit like this.

No, I'm not trying to get an old fashioned legs vs CT thing going here or anything.

But I do think the sentiment you expressed here looks a lot like the dismissive sentiments expressed about COVID 19 when it first hit.

You got yours, but a lot of people haven't, and 19 was plenty deadly, with plenty of evidence and information to use to encourage vaccinating.

I think we've seen enough to take this seriously on its own, IMO.

About 70% of America will be exactly like this - once they don't perceive it as a threat they will be done with it.

I'm sure this is a struggle for public health officials at all times.

Are people supposed to keep worrying about it even though it is not a threat to them? It seems like common sense.

Threat to them vs. still a threat to their community.

I gots mine yo! <-Most Americans

As I said , 70% of Amercians are 'done with it!'

We'll see what happens when the kids get back to 100% classroom size, or when next winter comes. I'm hoping its not bad - but it probably will be.

After someone gets a vaccine, what else is there for them to do?
Individuals have little control over what the entire community does.

For a vaccinated person, their threat is greatly reduced. And their likelihood of potential spread is very low. So yes, they should be done with it.

the average 'merican was way more afraid of the knock out game or ms13 caravans coming to rape and pillage than they ever were about a disease that killed half a million people that many times included their own family members and friends
.
and now so many people... sure mostly trumpers but many not, who are more afraid of the vaccine than the disease.

it seems like there are people who are extra alarmist over these variants and people who are 'over it'. i feel somewhat on the over it side, mainly because i got the shot, and have accepted the people who don't want it aren't going to be convinced.

but i do wonder if my lack of concern over them is part of a defense mechanism that's kinda broken.
