"? to my fellow NY'ers. How is this smelling weed everywhere thing going"

for you? I partake but some of these sour based strains smell downright unethical. I don't know I might be grossed out if I was on the other side of things. Foul smells are foul smells. I'm sure the market for fruitier smelling herb will be big here. I haven't been on the train but I'm sure the red line smells sour.

from commercial weed guys talking about quotes for armored security and talking about lab tests for "motor breath" strains

(for which you can check leafly.com for the positives, negatives, and 'good-for' ratings)

Apparently named after its excessively gassy smell

SMH

Not gonna front I hate the smell of cigarettes more personally as an ex smoker, but my wife does get pretty riled up over rampant blowing up of private space with loud strains

It’s the cigarette smell of the 80s and 90s. That’s what the smell of weed
is. However, the smell is way more pronounced than the smell of cigarettes.

The smell of cigarettes is only problematic if you are close up on the smoker.
When some of my former coworkers would take a cigarette break, where they would
go outside and frantically puff away, one could barely smell the smoke in the air
passing by. It wasn’t until being really close up on the smokers that one could smell
the smoke

The smell of weed is way more offensive. Not only can one smell the strong odor
while passing by, it can be smelled from the other side of the street. It’s extremely
disruptive because of its skunk-like smell. It simply stinks.

Now, we got communities that smell like straight up weed factories. I used to hate
the constant smell of coffee and bagels that emanated from the local Starbucks
and Dunkin shops. Constantly smelling those aromas instantly gave me a headache.
But weed smoke makes those aromas a welcoming scent now.

I still don’t understand why people need to use weed or alcohol. It’s simply a
chemical for recreation or social purposes. It’s not an essential need for the body. It’s not a nutrition, and it’s an unnecessary financial expense.

I have fun without drinking and smoking. Growing up ,all we did was go
to house and hip hop parties. We had mad fun, and not a drug or drink was
needed. We were too busy dancing.

I’m an adrenaline freak. So I get high off motion. That’s my drug.
Sex, swimming, running, cycling, etc. I grew up around crack heads
and wine-os, but I was a park district kid, so I was more influenced
by activities. And in high school ,I was highly influenced by Islam, 5 percenters,
and Hebrew Nubians. Drugs and drinking were wack.

That’s my way of life. I don’t expect my partner to be that way, and
I don’t complain about it. I see more people complain about people not
drinking and smoking than the other way around.

blows it out the window with a fan to keep the smell from going into his hallway.

the smoke travels up and into my window and i smell it immediately

drives me crazy

point is it travels if you have a sensitivity to it

as a former smoker i can't stand the smell anymore

sounds like you have a sensitivity to weed in principle that heightens your physical sensitivity

That shit is foul as hell and he always had the window open and smoked out the window and it went straight into my livingroom and messed my mojo up everytime I tried to enjoy some food

Cigarette smoke followed by intense showers of some off-brand cologne to hide the smell as it was a non-smoke building lmao, come to think of it I think that strong cheap-ass cologne was worse than the cigs

I have a sensitivity to smoke in general, except win sitting around
a bonfire, BBQing, or burning incense.

It’s just that weed smells, and now that it is acceptable and legal, people are just
out in the open puffing away. There are about two houses on my drive where the
people who live in those houses get blazed every weekend. The smell of skunk
and Dolce and Gabbana hits you as soon as anyone walks by.

I’m not judging people. I’m talking about the chemical. I have friends and
relatives who smoke heavily. I don’t judge. But that shit gets no play in my crib.
Smoke all you want to outside, though.

No way in hell could I walk around smelling like that. It’s a dead give away if you’re
trying to hide or some shit. Lol. “ We know you are in here. We can smell the weed.”

This reminds me how all of OKP jumped down my throat years ago when I was living in SF and I complained about / was confused by folks I saw during the morning rushour commute puffing blunts on the way to work.

I straight up lose my goddamn mind when I smoke weed, I personally think it looks bad as fuck to take a whole blunt to the head on the way into the office.

(don't @ me about exceptions or self medicating, you and I both know thats not who the fuck I'm talking about, AND we can drop the charade now that weed is slowly being legalized. it can be therapeutic for some and all about getting fucked the fuck up for others)

(the irony is not lost on me that I myself take daily medication to function like a good worker bee)

But there are other ways to heal and normalize the body.

Have you tried juicing? Herbal teas? Have you tried modifying
your diet to incorporate foods that generate good hormones?

Mood is effected by hormones. If your hormones are out of wack,
then your state of mind will be out of wack. Drugs, coffee, and
alcohol create human chemical imbalances, which can lead to stress,
anxiety, anger, sadness,etc.

Your body is a chemical that produces chemicals that keeps the
body in Order.

In the long run, all those man made substances will affect your
glandular and endocrine systems, which is your hormonal system,
and put the body in a state of stress

It's essential for lots of people for many different reasons.. it's medicine for some.. it's fun for others.. Plus it's not expensive at all when done in moderation.

We need to over-criminalize smoking weed and provide a subsidy for people to do edibles instead.

I was a weed head as a kid...then my anxiety popped up one day and said "we're gonna be friends"

so then I just drank and drank too much all while in in denial about a health issue.

I finally looked into the health issue but Ive been on a medication that makes alcohol turn my body into a cocoon of pain while also making it super potent so every unit of alcohol is like 1.75X

weed is out because of the anxiety and the health issue.

so...yeah, i have weed treats, weed, vape pens, a full booze cabinent, a full wine fridge and I don't want to touch any of it.

I'm not sober, I fuck with kava heavy, but it's a tricky substance to be friends with.

and your comment in a previous post about weed "making you lose your mind"

btw same to all of this. weed as a young person, encroaching anxiety as an adult, heavy drinking. that shit sucks and an overwhelming majority of folks don't understand what it takes to deal with it. it's a lot to go through and imo impressive to come out on the other side even nominally functional, and it seems like you've exceeded that. it takes a lot of willpower and discipline. you should be lauded for your efforts

theres a lot of shit under the water for me. by "shit under the water" I mean my own trauma, depression, general sadness, frustration, anger, PTSD, etc.

when I geet too high, the the survival tools I developed to keep me safe and sane are weaponized and used against me...like, I learned to keep quiet, keep a low profile, and not stand out, because standing out meant a lot of things.

So, when I get too high that instinct becomes, a voice in my head that is screaming "GET THE FUCK OUT OF THIS PLACE NOW. NOT SAFE. IT'S NOT SAFE, YOU GOTTA LEAE NOW. GO GO GO GO GO" but on outside, I will appear calm when I say "aight man, Imma go home and chill" instead of hanging.

it's a lot to deal with just on a human level. i know there is an added layer of complexity to it in your case because you're black. i can only sympathize with that element of it

i do feel like with time and practice you can learn to quell the panicky voice in your head and enjoy the marijuana experience. i stated in a below reply that exercise helped me a lot. elaborating on that a bit, i have found that there is what i call the "violin moment" (think music scores designed to ratchet up tension) where there is a clear inflection point where the high goes from "building up to something" to "way too much." after that point you're in a state of regret and anxiety at minimum. everything is more intense than you want it to be. i liken it to having the color setting on the monitor or TV dialed up 20% more than where it needs to be. its just too much and it makes me uncomfortable and i wish i could turn it back down but i can't for at least 90 minutes

however i found that this moment happened far less often after a good long cardio session. i actually ran experiments on myself: i would smoke immediately after clocking out (i have a high stress job) and without fail i would hit that point of no return and end up in a panic attack. when i smoked *after* i had a long cardio session that point would rarely occur, and if it did occur it would tip over in a good direction; relief rather than panic. i think being in the correct frame of mind where you can accept the high is important too. if you're overly anxious then using marijuana can exacerbate the situation and that's counter-productive, frustrating, and discouraging

it's entirely possible that none of my unsolicited advice will work for you or that you had one too many bad experiences and have determined that it's not worth pursuing. i do think that weed can be a very helpful tool in managing anxiety and depression if used in concert with several other practices

it didn't solve or completely eradicate anything. i still get flashes of depression. still have anxiety attacks. but they're far less frequent and severe than they used to be. exercise simply raises the floor of my mental health. i just wish i had figured this out in my 20s so i could have wasted less time being shackled by anxiety and depression

..take a hit ..or just half a hit and enjoy that little buzz while still functioning ...i know people that if they smoke, they feel it's a blunt to the head or nothing but it doesn't have to be that way

everyone has a different reaction to weed. the strain and method of ingestion really should be prescribed or at least advised on by a professional. moderation is key and not chasing whatever glorious high you had when you were 16 and weed was new and exciting. it's medicine and functional. get to whatever point you're trying to get to and stop. take baby steps if you need to

i really want to get out west so i can try tinctures. i like vaping but it messes with my eustacian tubes and overall ENT health. less so than straight up burning but it's still usually unpleasant and uncomfortable

...i also find if i have a drink or 2 on the weekend I can smoke a little more without getting panicky ..makes sense ..on the flip side, if i take a week or two off from puffing, i have to take it easy or else even a small hit will send get me buggin lol ..been doing this for 25 years so i got it down to a science.

also, what works for me is weed is always a reward after i finish stuff for the day.. if i have a deadline, or unresolved issues from the day, i'll just not smoke that night because i won't be able to enjoy it, i'll just be over analyzing stuff.

I've tried it all, strains, small hits, edibles, etc.

the only thing that works is to be a bit buzzed on alcohol, I present as mellow and relaxed but there is always some tension somewhere inside, getting stoned however small always highlight things.

in my experience — and this might not work for everyone — my highs got better and more consistently enjoyable when i got my mind and body right via diet, exercise, and mindfulness. when i was younger i could down caffeinated drinks and stay up all night and smoke and have a great time. that doesn't work now that i'm older and more (too) aware of my mental and physical state at all times. slight anxiety while sober can be a full blown panic attack when high. it sucks but it can be overcome with practice if you're diligent about what you put in your body and how you maintain your mental health via mindfulness, good sleep hygiene, and exercise, specifically cardio. again this is my experience alone but i think it might help if you haven't already pursued this option

because, I live in my head.

now after a lot of therapy and learning...I'm closer to being able to take one to the dome, but also so far away because I'm just a lot more aware.
