French electronic group’s management talk taking legal action after claiming that singer infringed on Justice’s trademark

“Your use of the Mark is illegal,” the counsel writes. “You have not received permission from Justice to utilize the Mark. Moreover, Bieber’s work is in no way affiliated with, supported by, or sponsored by Justice. Such use of the mark is not only illegal, but likely to deceive and confuse costumers.”

According to the duo’s counsel, “Justice’s Mark has priority both in the United States and abroad” because the duo sells merchandise to U.S. customers and has performed in the States.

Justice and their counsel are asking Bieber to “cease and deist any and all uses of Justice’s Mark in any and all personal and business endeavors, including but not limited to Album and social media.”

Pitchfork has reached out to Justin Bieber’s representatives for comment and more information.

are what I'm interested in for today.

Kota's album is dope. The best he's ever sounded to me. Statik Selektah's beats really breath new life into his sound, which typically gets monotonous over the course of a whole LP. These beats keep it interesting and seem to bring new energy to Kota.

So far, Joyce's album is cool. Very early 00s vibe. On One and So So Sick (the early singles) stand out at this point. The Westside Gunn interlude though? They shoulda kept that shit.

Haven't gotten to the other two yet.

i was worried it wouldnt work, that kota might try to do a flow that didnt suit him. statik found the right balance of beats that give the kota vibe with others thats expand his style. keeping it to 10 full tracks was a good call. as much as i liked his everything album last year it didnt have as much replay value as foto. i think this one will have more replay value.

not sure im ready to say its better than foto but its a great project. really good call for them to work together. this album keeps me interested to see where kota goes from here. statik was teasing they have something else coming, i think he said game theory and ended the feed.

i kind of want to see kota do a collabo album next with another vocalist, either a rapper or rapper/singer.

i think she's mostly known as a behind-the-scenes songwriter. she had a great run in the mid-to-late 2010s. her face is obscured in every pic i've seen and she seemed pretty low-key so her branching out as a solo artist is kind of fascinating. i wonder if she'll end up in the bibi bourelly/quentin miller lane where she clearly has the chops but not quite enough charisma to carry an album or ep

skimmed through benny's album. it's chock full of uninteresting and derivative harry fraud beats so it's probably going to be a chore to listen to. sometimes benny's raps can do the heavy lifting though

i self devine releasing an album in 2021 is wild to me. i wonder if he's still messing with dj kool herc

folks might be surprised at the guapdad x !llmind album but if you do even a modicum of research on guapdad you'll see he is a student of rap history and has a gang of "corona raps" videos where he raps over classic 90s and 2000s beats. he knows his stuff. he's a good writer and this album seems to have a theme. hopefully he can pull off something worthwhile that will expand people's perception of him

super polished right out of the gate. thought he took all that scamming money and bought verses from folks or had a team. i think he's good at approximating existing styles and isn't super original when it comes to meters and flows. his pen is nice though

Guap is my favorite rapper right now.

Pretty original, nice pen, funny AF, generally picks good production, etc.

Sadly, I didn't like this project much, but I think Illmind is one of the most overrated producers and am definitely not a fan of his stuff so I'm not totally shocked by that. Like, never has Illmind dropped something where I was even like "not a fan, but respect, that was hoard." *shrug*

thats 3 albums i really enjoy on one day. 2021 is shaping up now.

Benny was solid, but he's currently my favorite rapper and on that "happy to hear anything he puts out" status. Admittedly, this is his weakest solo release in a while, the guest verses are mostly crap (I dug the Fat Joe verse though). Loved Harry's production though and Benny never wastes a verse, so it'll continue to get plays, but it's the weaker of the Plugs EPs and isn't nearly hitting me like Burden of Proof did last year.

On my 3rd-ish listen of Kota now, really liking it. Need to spend more time really listening to it though rather than having it on while working.

i think it's the chord progressions. i enjoyed benny's rapping despite not liking the production. hopefully he doesn't keep throwing all all these high level bars at low level beats like this album and the hit-boy album. i do support him wanting to not get pigeonholed into the griselda/darringer sound though. maybe he can find a producer that is just a little more suited to delivering beats that can match up to his raps
