that i think should be possible or the default.
in the daw each drum pack has 16 sounds right? the controller has 8 pads and a button for 9/16. i should be able to hit that button to swap to sounds 9/16 right? nope. if it can be done i dont know how. i just thought thats how its supposed to work.
i also want to use horns but the daw doesnt come with any in the instruments. i get that they will probably not sound great but um give me the option? so i need to find out if i can get some. i found some samples of some but theyre short clips of melodies and i want to be able to hit different keys for different notes of whatever horn and make my own melodies.
i also keep struggling with other parts of the interface but i think i will figure that out with time.
all that said, i do think this was the way to go for me. i dont want to create beats by using loops of existing songs. i want to make some up. use samples as accents if anything. after a while ill probably start wanting to use samples but for now thats not what i want to do.
when i was trying to make beats with just FL it seemed too rigid and i couldnt get anything to groove. being able to figure out what i want by playing the keys helps me a lot. sometimes i end up just clicking in the patterns i want but thats after i figure out what im trying to do with the pads or keys first.
i think i have created two loops that dont sound like pure trash lol
i also need to see how im going to hook this up to my AV. ive been using just the laptop screen and headphones. at some point i want to hear what im making through my speakers and sub. might also be nice to have a bigger screen to work on. might just go with hdmi. i think i have a long enough aux cable to plug into my av if i just want audio, just not sure where.

Like this morning, it hit me that my life insurance premium was about to hit my account.
Had a convo just yesterday with a buddy about his own life insurance and why it's important to have it.
Those are examples from just the last few days. Seeing those COVID #s, on a daily basis, is what makes me consider my own mortality. Plus, I'll be 50 this year.
Day before that, me and the same buddy discussed "GoFundMe" insurance policies. Ion do dat! For nobody!

I wanna sip some good tequila or mezcal this weekend. I wanna smoke a couple of nice sticks. I've got Liga Privada, Gurkha, and Perdomo cigars primed for the weekend. I wanna watch a couple movies. I wanna start prepping my mind for a few different detoxes (lung, gi, and liver) I'm planning to start next Tuesday. After the 3-day of course. LOL

Seriously, I’ve got mullein leaf extract for the lungs. For the liver & kidneys, a milk thistle, dandelion, Indian sarsaparilla, and red rooibos tea. i loved exit when i first got it. couldnt think it could get better but his next 2 albums were perfect to me. when i go back and listen to exit there are songs that sound rough now but i loved back then. joyful rebellion and atlantis are still perfect to me but i dont go back to them as much recently. partly because im actively trying to stay up on new music.
he hasnt really done wide releases of his albums on vinyl. i think exit might have one with a generic sleeve that is hard to find. joyful rebellion had a limited run of 500 years back which was being sold second hand for like $150. they repressed it back in like december or late november. slightly different color way but again limited to 500. i was quite happy when i saw it and was able to order it. was going to be a bummer if it came in damaged or i never received it lol it was still available at least a couple weeks back but shows sold out now.
hes definitely one of my favorites. if they release any of his other albums on vinyl i am definitely buying them. i bought black on blonde on vinyl mostly because there was no way to buy his other albums on vinyl. im not a big fan of black on blonde plus the pressing is a picture disc (really just his logo pretty small) and not even the full album. so it was a weird purchase but i dont regret it. it was still available new last year for relatively cheap so pulled the trigger on it.

it was dope af.
We: unplugged for 6 days Hit up a Hot Springs Resort tried to hike but it turned into some horror movie shit so fuck that.. shopped local in Asheville Cooked damn near all our meals.. steak, lobster, etc.. drank and smoked the finest and barely had contact with the outside world
took a few days to let go of the worry of work but it was liberating.
I advise anyone who is thinking of the typical vacation to rethink it and try something like this. Now we are looking for an island adventure in SC or NC where its beaches but no TV. I know its easy to say you can just not look at your phone but we are married to these devices. Having a break really made me appreciate the little things.

Asheville is weird af too but in a good way. Its artsy fartsy as hell but we were kinda shocked at how hard they go for Black Lives Matter. Every business made sure you knew where they stood on that issue. You rarely saw a store without it. Almost felt like it was a law among the merchants in town.

i think im going to see if i can get an eye exam appointment for monday and ask for the day. boss had said i might work from home next week, if so i kind of want to postpone the appointment for a week im scheduled to work on site lol
weekend goals: dont drop the eggs, play some records, zelda and do some cleaning.

I think I might get one of my kids over this weekend... first time since the fall. bit nervous about covid as she's been in school with 30+ kids in her class (they do one class for 5 weeks then move onto the next class)

We made it to another Friday... I got email at work today seems that we're finally able to book our 1st vaccine shot as staff... until now it was only the clinical staff who worked in the hospitals and clinics who were eligible... IT support and other areas of business that only periodically go to those sites were not... that's now changed so i've gotta schedule an appointment and get mine so I can get that 2nd as soon as they authorize it.. then that'll be done and I can return to my isolation simply as the hermit I am and not under the directive of caution which has kept the rest out of circulation.

last time i went to the shop i had no audio. i disconnected the battery when i got home and reconnected and boom everything worked. i mostly left it as is. a couple months back the front passenger signal stopped working so i split the rear one and its been working fine since.
im thinking the splitter didnt mess anything up but maybe whatever caused the signal to go out did. i need to pull the radio and check for a loose connection. kind of doesnt make sense about the sub.
i half want to take it to another shop and tell them to just make everything right and half want to pull everything but the speakers and just go back to stock. if im trading it in thats what i want to do, back to stock. now i have to figure out what to do until i decide if im trading it in. its fine as is for riding around but its no longer a place i go to jam out to lol

i went ahead and pulled the radio and found the loose connection for the speaker. there was no slack, they had told me the previous shop did that and they did their best to make it work. they had tried putting a connector but then there was also electrical tape.
i had bought some connectors and i went ahead and tried to fix it. looks like it held and is working. something is up with the 4 channel amp. i wasnt getting sound from the rear speakers. i toggled a few of the buttons and that got it working. ive seen that happen before with the amp. i dont know if its a wiring issue or just a crap amp.
now i have sound from all 4 speakers and full fade, front to back and left to right.
no luck with the sub. the mono amp flashes red once when i turn on the car then turns off. im pretty sure they have one fuse for both amps, if the 4 channel is working im guessing the fuse isnt the issue. might be a dead amp or some loose connection for it. theres no sound coming from it. i might take it into a different shop to troubleshoot that.

I got a year older on the 24th... my knee is making sounds like rice krispies... no pain but the sound is quite disconcerting and certainly doesn't bode well... nothing too interesting to report tbh.. no fantastic plans for the weekend or anything... that said, Hi gang miss you guys wish I had something to talk about.. or felt like really going on about what little I might.. still in a bit of an antisocial funk.. plus work you know. happy Friday.. what's good?

Got the tub fixed fast w/ a plunger, but the sink drain is still blocked. Borrowed my pops longer snake so I'll try that later. Washing dishes in a bucket is getting old.
We got rain after two weeks of bone-dry weather, so the mosquitos are finally out. Was nice while it lasted.
My cat has Deebo'd my office chair from me. It's her bed now. She literally meows at me if she catches me sitting on it anymore. I need to get a new one anyway...

Like clockwork, that *chillyness* is starting to creep in at night here in Philly.
Spent all summer setting up my basement like a dance club. Gonna throw some small dance/house parties once we get the first floor together.
Had to fix my mower, so I haven't cut the grass in weeks. It's all like a foot and a half tall now. Took the whole mower apart and cleaned everything, but in the end the problem was an old spark plug. If I would've just started with that...
Somehow, I managed to get out to more dances, open mics & performances this past year than the previous five.
