Individual stocks I have:
AAPL
RCL
CRM
JPM
NKE
UAL
DIS

I bought all these (except CRM) when the market tanked in March/April.

I put a little bit into ETFs/bonds every month with Betterment though.

Aurora Cannabis ugh. I have such a small position but yuck.

Vornado (urban real estate) has been great on any news that we'll ever return to normal.

Thanks for this man... I bought in at $0.24. It got as high as $0.90 and I see that the high is at $3.09. I'm going to hold and sell when it gets around $1.50-$2.00 range. But for real... this was an excellent call and I commend you sir.

I was looking at NIO when it dipped to around $40. I hear it's the Chinese Tesla, but how safe do you feel vested in the company? I only say this because I bought Luckin, the Chinese Starbucks, and that stock got delisted in a manner of weeks.

Regardless of how I feel about it, I spend a looooooot of money at Amazon. By far the most of any company. I feel like I should have a piece.

Robinhood and M1 let you buy fractional shares.

Bought a little bit of BP today while they’re in the toilet. It will be a loooooong play as they figure out how to go to renewables.

The Rev has a thread on this already.

I invest in a M1 Berkshire Hathaway fund that has Apple, Coke, BofA and a bunch of other stuff and an Aggressive 2035 retirement fund.

Also own Tesla.

I invest twice a month but I need to throw more at it.

I got burned on that back in the summer.

I bought in at 55 on a Thursday, then on the following Monday the premarket price was...88. I thought to myself "do I let it rock or do I move and make a profit." I held on. Market opened, price moved to 94 then it tanked. Thankfully I had a stop loss in place but I still managed to lose a few.

MRNA is tricky.

put about 6% of every paycheck to company stocks and get an extra little something back every quarter. and FIS stock just keeps going up. it's pretty great. i will occasionally dip into others. made some money off AMD last year when ryzen was washing intel CPUs but dumped when the nvidia 3000 series cards were announced. probably should have held on a little longer. could have been in on AMD like 6 years ago when they were under $10/share (now at $80+!) and am constantly kicking myself for not going in back then. holding on to abbot labs (ABT) and walgreens (WBA) for the moment but unsure how vaccine release will affect these

i really want to get into rare earth materials stocks but i don't know where to start. also looking for companies that will be producing materials for making foldable screens but also at a loss on how to find them

depending on your company's policy on selling company stocks (i can't sell shares until one year after they were purchased) your portfolio could be viewed as a limited-access savings account that has a huge return every x months or whenever the matching funds kick in. it's free money if you plan on gaming the system a little by dumping the shares as soon as you're able to

I have some boring ones and some exciting ones and some in between

bought TSLA before the split...

Vanguard Growth Index Mutual Fund that gets fed every week

building up cash to get another fund (most likely the Vanguard Real Estate Fund)

and for some strange reason I have some IBM stocks in my Vanguard account

I like Vanguard

I also have the bird app.. (RH)
brought Apple before the split..
i have some berkshire... B stock (i might sell and get something else)

I have other stock (intel, amd, and some other ones i can't think of)

I've been aiming for stocks that give out dividends... so i can reinvest that shit

oh and I have a 401k type account from the job that does matching..

buffet himself considers ownership of BRK A or B to be a curious thing you just own. No dividends are ever paid. Its supposed to be a stable loooooooooong term item that may grow incrementally.

Crazy to think BRK.A is 344K but its been growing since the 60s. it was 71k in 1990. 1000 invested at IPO would be worth 26.5m.

i made a few bucks off some dumb luck smart plays.

there are so many ways to go about it. Once I learned some 101 level things, I kept learning then I realized how much more I don't know and that the real money making takes a level of commitment I don't have.

I read the Warren Buffet bio and learned what it takes to make big boy moves and I knew it wasnt for me. On a level of making substantial gains it takes a lot of work. Dude spends his waking hours just reading through every nook and cranny to find advantages hidden in plain sight.

the only rules I play by are value driven moves. no options or schemes.

However, were I on my job I would consider reading up some things, like the dry boring shit which lays a foundation.

If you don't want to make the stock market your hobby, just regularly put money into index funds and hold for a long time. The gambling with individual stocks is for fun money you wouldn't mind losing or for professionals/hobbyists. In my opinion.

I'm the same with thinking about world events and how that might affect the market

the story that came, tossed the smoke grenade and disappeared was the Russia - Saudi oil price war.

I'm like reeeeally trying to remember the whole play by play which was this year and feels like 50 years ago.

but, it was something like, the price of oil dropped, no one was biting and there was such a surplus we ran out of storage so then shipping and logistic companies took on the surplus and then speculation on which shipping companies would be good bets took off. My fave moment during that time was making a really dumb play at the top of the hype with a company named Frontline Ltd which has the ticker symbol of FRO. My man, alright, alright, my man.

Mainly a bunch of smart tech buys from one or two years ago. I peak every now and then especially when those prices dip but have consistently just held. But I think I want to start buying again in the new year. I pretty much stopped buying once covid hit because my heart couldn't do the speculations.

But yeah I want to play with this more. A few buys per month with options to cash out (or reinvest in long term funds) any profits like every three. This way I'm only playing with a little at a time. Supplemental investing for fun rather than thinking I am actually doing something.

I trade options and naturally stocks as a result. Options trading is cheaper and riskier than stocks depending on contracts bought.

Right now I'm buying and selling spreads while using calls to generate hundreds of stock shares cheaply.

Currently a mod in Stock/Options discord too growing as a trader.

So let's say you've got $12,000 to spend. Would you rather buy 100 shares of Apple (give or take a couple hundred... I know it's at $122 right now) and sell a call for Apple at a $126 strike price and collect roughly $60 a week on the premium?

Or would you rather sell puts of various other companies? For example, DraftKings at $45 (currently at $49.25) to collect $40, NIO at $35 (currently at $42.95, but pretty volatile) to collect $40, and let's just say maybe 2 contracts of Workhorse at $20 each (currently at $21.95) to collect $45 each.

The reason I bring this up is because Apple seems safer and you're almost likely to collect the $60 a week on selling the call. On the flip side, those three other stocks are kind of volatile and I may end up being stuck with one of those stocks, although the premium may be higher (I think combined, in this hypothetical example, the premiums would be $170 a week).

And I'm sorry if those terms aren't the right terms. I hope you got the general gist of what I was saying. I just started option trading and I'm trying to figure out the right way to attack it.

Your examples are really pricey so let's decrease the scope of the plays.

Lets use ampe and hexo for example as both were 80 cents at one point. 0.5 calls cost $30 exercise cost $50. This means $80 for 100 shares. $800 equates to 800 shares. Go small with the 12K and try to avoid anything over $20 per share. Puts are huge risks but work if TA and news suggests the price could go down.

I am 100% selling Hexo calls if it reaches $30 per share. A 0.5 hexo call would be worth $2,950 per call. Imagine if you have 100 of these calls.

As a newer trader save money for trading while opening an Ameritrade account. Use the Ameritrade account to open s Thinkorswim account getting past the 60 day trial limit. TOS account allows you to learn by trading with fake referred to as paper money. You could experimrnt with every options strategy every week for free. They give you 100k to start..

As for attack methods... Stay away from r/wallsreetbets, use some form of analysis before submitting and order. Don't buy deep OTM options days before expiration hoping to lotto. Know what greeks are and use them as a tool.

Really at this point I'm still trying to get familiar with all the terminology. I feel like every tutorial on the entire internet assumes you hate math.

Target price was $68. It started selling at $151. I'm not rich enough to practice the tomfoolery of this game. How does one even get it at the $68 price?

Same thing happened with DoorDash yesterday.

Did anyone get either of these stocks?

Institutional investors was my guess.

I bought at $146 though. Airbnb can't lose. It's the future, and getting people to trust your company with their house is a hell of a moat.

Also, many companies allow their employees, and sometimes friends and family, to buy in at the IPO price. This happened to me when I was working at a company that went public back in 1998.

The Biden administration is going to throw money at these new AI / data synthesis players. Betting there will be a huge push to modernize government and move systems online in the wake of the pandemic.

Just because we're gonna pour everything into mass vaccinations.
And a lot of people can get free tests. Everyone in NYC for example.

Also we're far enough along that if it were going to pop it would be priced in.

That's before looking at any tickers though. Could be some sleepers that see sudden investment.
