I use it for wings if I want to have them baked with a crispy skin.
I’ve read up on it a little bit because I didn’t use mine that often either. Supposed to cut down on baking time as well.

Instead of cooking in the oven on a cookie sheet use a basket/sheet combo like this, so the fries are able to cook from all directions. It’s essentially the same as air frying. It’s LS ss efficient because there isn’t a fan directing the heat around the food like in an air fryer or convection oven, but WAY better fries than just on a cookie sheet.

The rack I use for my wings is pretty bunk. This will def take my wings and fries to the next level.

literally grew up eating French fries and trying to reheat them in a traditional oven or microwave and learned that they taste like shit. You have to eat fries while their hot. If it’s a meal I usually eat the fries before my sandwich.
This coming off as a revelation to someone who I assume is at least in their 30’s is just funny to me.
I just re-read your post but I still feel pretty much the same. As a kid we had those frozen fries that you put in the microwave that would make do if you didn’t have McDonald’s money but they weren’t great.
I held off my wife from buying an air fryer for a couple years because something like this gets you most of the way there to what an air fryer does. (That being said, after actually getting an air fryer, she was right all along, the air fryer does the same thing but much more quickly and consistently.) But a tray like this is WAY better than doing fries or wings on a cookie sheet in the oven.
