"RIP DeOndra Dixon"

Man.. I remember when I watched Jamie perform Blame It at the grammy’s and I was so confused when I saw this woman dancing that looked nothing like the typical dancer body at an awards show. I thought he was trolling the audience.

Then I heard it was his younger sister and my respect for Jamie Foxx went thru the roof. Most celebs keep a family member like that away from the bright lights but he put her on stage and brought her to live with him in LA. That’s love.

Only 36 years young but I’m sure she lived life to the fullest and helped keep Jamie grounded.

I'm so happy Jamie and the rest of her family members could connect her to so many amazing oportunities to shine. I have a family member with DS too and they've really inspired me.

Maybe more details will be shared over time (or not, and that's fine), but I can't help but wonder about the more specific circumstances surrounding her passing... I know DS is linked to shorter life expectancy, but I thought the consensus on that was evolving and 36 seems quite young even compared to other ranges I've read (I think I've seen moreso late middle age? like 50+).

My heart breaks for them even more if it was related to covid or some other chronic condition that renders people with DS more vulnerable. But I can also understand a family's desire not to dwell especially when the scientific community is still unable to offer many answers...

Thanks for posting Legs

I have no connection to DS but the wife and I talked about our fears when she was pregnant.

For this man to take her on that journey with him is incredibly noble.

He said something like “she kept me grounded, you get the real with someone with DS. They let you know when they are happy and mad at you and it’s unedited and raw”
