i'm sure there is an answer, but i don't want to make a separate post.

anyway, for work we have to put pronouns after our names for zoom meetings and I noticed people putting she/they or he/they (as opposed to he/him, she/her, or they/their)

i asked around, but not the people that posted it, what it meant and they said maybe their gender was fuild and would respond to both she and they.

Anyway, I got an email from the help desk of one of our vendors where the signature was "{vendor name} Help Desk," the help desk email address, the help desk 800 number and then "she/her/hers."

So ... the help desk has pronouns ...?

My assumption is the that the person answering my question has pronouns, not the help desk, but the person never signed a name - just "help desk," so why were the pronouns in there anyway?

we are talking about this painting: https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwhitney.org%2Fexhibitions%2Farchibaldmotley&psig=AOvVaw3J4yv0UlofFj1akhcn-n_L&ust=1603469849746000&source=images&cd=vfe&ved=0CAIQjRxqFwoTCKDtrOrMyOwCFQAAAAAdAAAAABAD

we have to write couples dancing and person in a red dress...

couldn't get the edit in before the time expired, because of work lol

anyway, I work in the Arts & Culture sector too! It hasn't come up for signatures yet (thought I am sure it will), but I am a DBA and the database changes that go along with this, gender fields and prefixes are a headache. We have all these scripts set up that recently start failing on me because of gender. Character limit used to be 1 or 2. Now I gotta edit the script to 10 or something much larger. Also, mailings from development should say Mr. or Mrs. etc... we have scripts that auto determine that from the gender... those have to be edited.

might identify as male at work, but get home and have a 'girl' name and dress as a woman for their partner? They are both the same person though, clearly.

I'm just throwing that out there. I don't know.

I 'am' a cis-hetero-black male to some people...to me I'm just me. I try to understand and make room so I hope my theory isn't offensive.

The question is specifically about people luminous saw identify as "she/they" or "he/they" (seemingly two entirely different pronouns) as opposed to "he/him" "she/her" and "they/their."

"They" is a gender identity I think anyone who's been paying attention is at least minimally familiar with.

But I have also never seen anyone put "he/they" or "she/they."

https://lgbta.wikia.org/wiki/She/They_Lesbian

She/They lesbians are lesbians that use she/her pronouns and they/them pronouns. They may consider themselves as a woman. They may also identify as non-binary but do not have to. Typically, they use she/they pronouns due to their gender expression as a form of gender non-conformity/pronoun non-conformity. Every she/they lesbian has a different reason as to why they might use she/they pronouns. They may also use other pronouns in addition to she and they. Not all she/they lesbians are androgynous looking and may have a femme or butch style.

The way I would look at it (personally, no shot at you) if I worked somewhere that required it, is that it takes no time at all and doesn't have any adverse impact on my life or day to day. So that being the case, if it's something that would make some of my co-workers, clients, colleagues @ other companies I communicate, etc. feel more comfortable and included I'd have no problem doing it. No harm no foul.

People who use "mixed" pronouns like that (She/They or He/They) are often people who grew up being called she or he and don't object to it, are used to it, but it's not entirely inline with the way they see themselves. Or they're in transition. They would like to at some point go by "they" but they're not there yet in their life for whatever reason. Sometimes it's easing friends and family into it, sometimes it's folks grappling with their identity.

This is what I've seen from the folks I know who use mixed pronouns.

Bron has played against better competition and played a whole season more of playoff games in his career.

Dude has been going to finals like it’s his birth right and half of those squads were suspect.

The Cavs championship solidified for me that you can't be wrong either way. Bron won that shit all by himself, almost literally. Against a damn dynastic wagon of a team.

I still say MJ's better but I won't really even argue against the Bron side anymore, cuz there's not a lot of space between them either way, if any at all.

and how Jordan never lost.

but Jordan’s teams struggled like hell before Pippen. Didn’t even make it out of the first round a few times.

I think it’s still impressive to take some of those teams to the Finals that weren’t that good overall.

Do we really knock Brady down for losing a few SB’s??? He’s still considered GOAT status even tho I hate him.

I know there is no right answer but some of the reasons used against Bron aren’t fair. Dude has been a monster for 17 years and he isn’t done yet.

... hypocritical to judge Bron that way while taking the opposite position on Brady.

With Brady I used to put him and Montana at about even until Brady won his 4th, despite being a TB fan. I thought Montana's pristine performance in SBs was an edge for him, while Brady's undefeated reg season and other statistical advantages was an edge for *him*.

Similar story with Jordan and Bron - I thought Bron was the better overall player for a long time, just a physical freak who had better *skills* than Jordan in certain areas. But Jordan had the 6 rings to Bron's 2 at the time, as well as the undefeated Finals record and 6 Finals MVPs. So before Bron won that chip in Cleveland I'd argue vehemently on Jordan's behalf and would use the 6-0 Finals record as a primary staple of my argument.

But again after Bron carried that sorry ass Cavs team to a title, I stopped caping so hard for Jordan in these types of arguments lol.

And at this point with Brady, I'm probably biased, but I think Brady having 6 rings, as well as the multiple additional SB appearances you mentioned (on top of the stats) gives him such a clear edge over Montana at this point that it's not even really close.

>Do we really knock Brady down for losing a few SB’s???

In response to Reply # 48

That 2007 Cavs team was 5th in defensive rating that year and I think #1 during the playoffs. That team also won 10 out of 16 games without Lebron being the leading scorer.

Every other finals appearance he played with at least one other top 5 draft pick. Two of those teams Cavs redux and Heat he played with two on each team.

You can big Bron up for many reasons to make a case for him being GOAT, dragging trash to the finals isn’t one of them.

Kicking and screaming into the playoffs and finals. During the entire playoff run they only allowed 95+ points 4 times. That is not a squad of garbage.

Sort of like the Holy Trinity.. God the Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. One God in 3 divine persons.

Jordan and Bron represent basketball greatness in such distinct but undeniable ways that I don't see the point in debating who's better. They're both the best in their own way.

In response to Reply # 63

I re-checked his resume the other day, just thinking about people on that Mt. Rushmore. I'm not mad if people put MJ and Bron above him, but I think maybe the only reason I don't automatically put Kareem right at that same level in my mind is because I never watched him until the last few years of his career. Collge and Pro he's got the stats, the accomplishments, the longevity - he's got it all. But again, different eras, different rules, different criteria.

Everything from Skype to Google Meet require that you create an account even to use. Zoom, you get a link and you are in.

A long line of instances where Microsoft had the lead and they fumbled and let someone else still there thunder.

Apple beat them to app store. Music Player.

Dropbox.

Windows had boxes in everyone's home that should have beaten Alexa and Google Home to the voice control game.

The list goes on.

Why do people spit anyway? Like on TV and movies, when someone is mad they spit. Why? I know that is where the phrase spitting mad comes from, but why do people do it in the first place? Does being mad increase the saliva in some people's mouth? The snot loogie are gross, but at least I know why they do it.

My niece was born in July.

One thing we are all worried about is how this will affect her social development. Only people she sees without masks are her parents (my sister and BIL)

I still wear a mask when I go to my sister house to see her. So does everyone else.

Obviously the answer is because she is Oprah, but... I have watched two documentaries where she admitted to just asking for people's number and folks giving it to her. If I am not mistaken, I think she said she called the fire department in the town Toni Morrison lived in and they gave her Toni Morrison's number. WTH!? Then in another doc she spoke about asking everybody for Stacey Abrams phone number...

... on another note, this is an argument for answering numbers you don't know - it might be Oprah!

And I found some DOPE places with a carport and I'm like nah....I WANT a garage. Even as I do accumulate more stuff I'd hope to organize it enough where I can still fit cars.

Used to love my garage for the cars but it’s definitely nice to have another space to exercise and chill.

In response to Reply # 102

I mean this song was actually in the movie Dirt Dancing.

Watch me, now
(Work, work) ah, work it out baby
(Work, work) well, I'm gonna drive you crazy
(Work, work) you are getting kind of cold, now
(Work)
(Work, work) with just a little bit of soul, now ?
(Work, work) come on, come on now
(Work, work) I'm gonna drive you crazy
(Work)
I can mash potatoes
I can do the twist
Well now, tell me, baby, do you like it like this?
Tell me (tell me) tell me
Do you love me?
Do you love me, baby?
Do you love me?
Do you love me?
Now that I can dance
(Work, work) ah, work it out baby
(Work, work) well, I'm gonna drive you crazy
(Work, work) oh you are getting kind of cold, now
(Work)
(Work, work) with just a little bit of soul, now
(Work, work) now don't you get kinda bold, now?
(Work, work) oh, work it out, baby

when a woman gets married or divorced and chooses to change their last name? By "process" I mean all the stuff and places where they will need to change their name legally and professionally.

My boss was talking disapprovingly about some of the women at my job who recently got married and didn't change their last name to the new husbands (professionally at least). I was like "changing your name when you get married late in life is a HEADACHE." Then I saw the Ellen Page/Elliot Page thing and I was thinking... that must be a headache too, huh? But I guess it is more worth the trouble in that situation.

I don't no just wondering...

I remember seeing a vid on twitter of a kid in HS who wanted to change their dead name but their parents wouldn't pay for it so their classmates raised the money for them. It was so sweet.

long. I was like who is Eliot Page? It wasn't until like the second page they mentioned his prior name, Ellen Page.

I was wondering if it would be considered disrespectful if they described him as Elliot Page (fka Ellen Page).

^ and that is a good question. I can't imagine how it would be disrespectful but I'm not a part of that community so I wouldn't have any basis for knowledge obviously.

But yea I was struggling to figure out who the press was talking about in all the headlines/tweets I saw, as well until my wife finally enlightened me.

Why do people always seem to run to get behind them and them act like the driver is blind or irresponsible?

You saw them first and yet you are mad they didn’t see you?

next time you are in a parking lot peep it. Its like people intentionally put themselves in harms way when someone backs out.

saw a woman turn the corner and honk her horn and stop behind a car and give the “didn’t you see me you blind asshole” look.

of course they didn’t see you, you whipped around the corner fast as fuck.

Partially cuz I am always *uber* mindful of cars when I'm walking thru a parking lot (it's far easier for me to see them than them me, after all) and always give the car the right of way; and also partially because you said people "speed up" to walk behind a reversing vehicle, which just seems ridiculous to me haha. Like the mental picture I have of that scenario seems like something that I couldn't *possibly* be oblivious to.

A good friend of mine is a vet and she has stories upon stories of people being weird about *every* treatment, not just vaccinations. A big part of her job is politely arguing against the Dunning-Kruger effect or trying to undo the damage caused by "alternative" vets, so it's basically just like being a dr. for humans.

mcdonalds does not want to give you ketchup. they dont even ask you. when you ask for it they might include it, most of the time they dont. jack in the box is a bit better.

yet taco bell just cant help but try to throw their sauce at you, i swear they ask you if you want any about 5 times.
