Only 6 episodes... and getting through the first 15-20 minutes of the 1st episode was a STRUGGLE....but it was worth it... Just muscle through that 1st half hour of the first episode and you're in for a good ride....

I'm glad that they clarified that all the visions Sam was seeing in the first 3 eps were reflections of his illness and not necessarily a reflection of anything mystical happening. But I think a part of me kind of wanted something mystical to be happening? Just cause mystical shit is fun. But really, it's just an old as fuck murder cult on a shit island. (Jack the Ripper!)
It really does have a lot of similarities to Midsommar. An encounter with a cult giving an opening to finally feel all of your anger and forcing you to face the hardest parts of your grief. Is this a common thing in movies about cults? I haven't watched enough.
I do like that they didn't speak about Nathan like he was some sort of sweet baby angel. That shit can be so annoying in shows/movies. They always make the lost child some little flaxen haired cherub that's running through fields or eternally playing tea party in foggy slo-mo flashbacks. Or maybe very sweetly dying of cancer. I like that they made this kid a handful. That they made the parents love of him flawed. I liked in one of the earlier episodes when Sam described his grief as something that he doesn't feel at full impact everyday, just sometimes.
