My sense of smell already isn’t great. I only notice scents when they are really strong. And a lot of times those are bad smells, so losing the ability to notice those doesn’t sound all that bad.

... made me reconsider for a split second cuz I'd love to stop eating like an unhealthy miscreant for a period but that'd get old quick. I love food on way too many levels to ever give that up. Eating delicious food is something that brings me a lot of joy lol I look forward to it.
So smell it is. I like several smells quite a bit but I don't think I'd miss them.

People always talk about mom's cooking growing up but I was always caught off guard when food was up. I also work with wine a lot and I feel like a lot of the time I'm just quoting books I've read rather than my actual experience which is mainly just a slight hint of vinegar. There's a chef I work with that perks up anytime I open a bottle of Angostura bitters even if he's standing like three feet away and that really made me aware how poor my sense of smell is.
