like...KNX has been doing his thing for a long second
I just don't whys hes not even cracked Madlib levels of general recognition. He's still in the "music for those in the know" area.
If you look at his discography vs. Dilla it's clear he hasnt had real cross over moments, but it's also clear that hes prolific as fuck. 8/10 of his wikipedia page is releases.
anyway, those kids did the damn thing on that and it made me remember how much I fucking stan for KNX and that he put out major solo album this year.
which...fucks with my head because I'm thinking, if they are doing this then they are the children of this era which means Thundercat and cohorts are the establishment.
it's really making me appreciate meek and the fact that he found videos of g herbo and chainz having good pockets is amazing. i'm usually wary of producers putting their beats under verses that were written and recorded to different instrumentals but knx has a good feel for matching the energy and meter of the verse or providing a contrasting instrumental that complements the verse and makes it stand out more. most producers that put their beats (or other producer's beats) under pre-existing verses lack this skill
what's always so fun about these tapes is how they help me see a side of rappers I usually don't care much about, and Uncle Murda's one of those guys that just doesn't always come across on a studio track but this is just pure bliss to me.
