"I've seen five new Trump signs in my neighborhood in the last 2 weeks"
Mon Oct-12-20 08:04 AM by MEAT

And they're so weird. Why are "yall" like this?
One is a large flag ... which is weird, I never grown accustomed to those flags. I can't name a single other flag for individuals off the top of my head.
Another has Thank God for My President ... with a silhouette of his head, this house also had a "we back the blue" sign show up the week before
Today another couple has one of those long totems at their door, you know like the greeks have at their houses? One of those that just says Trump.

"Yall" need better heroes.

a more rural area of Michigan. I like in the Ann Arbor area but this was around 45 minutes south, just north of the Ohio border. It was surreal - almost EVERY house I passed off the freeway exit had Trump signs. Many of them also had signs against Governor Whitmer, some were homemade and absolutely terrible. Some of the more subtle GOP houses had signs not for Trump, but for the GOP Senate candidate (John James).

It was surreal - I haven't been out that much due to the pandemic, but in the area between Ann Arbor and Detroit there aren't many political signs, and the sings you do see are maybe 60/40 Biden vs. Trump. But this drive was like stepping into someone else's echo chamber, and I immediately saw why someone who lives in an area like that would be thinking that everyone was on their side...

Lots of non-trump GOP signs and echo chamber neighborhoods (either overwhelmingly D or R signs depending on which part of the county you're in)

I think they're cowards for waiting so close to an election to put up shit.
And I think they're fools that they looked at how bad things are, how overwhelmingly disliked he is, how stupid he's looked in the past month let at alone the last few weeks and decided that NOW was the time to declare their support.

A majority of the people in this country may not support him. But it's pretty close.
These people aren't alone on an island. They have plenty of company.

Additionally being a voter isn't necessarily a supporter.
I'll vote for Biden this year as an alternative to Donald Trump ... does that make me a Biden supporter?
He's dragged down every candidate and policy positions he's supported his entire term, except the deepest of the deep reds.
People that publicly support him are a very vocal minority.

We saw 3 pickup trucks with huge Trump flags and one with the blue lives flag.

The 2 trucks with Trump flags were parked by the water and it was white kids in their late teens or early 20’s.

Also see a few of these flags around my job at least 3 times a week. It’s like they are being paid to promote this dude.

I loved what Obama represented but I would love never thought to buy a 12 ft flag of him and ride around with it like I was on the payroll.

—-

I really hope this man loses. I wonder if these people will do like voters after Obama won and just act like they never voted for W. It’s like they are in some zombie fog.

Now and man if I wasn't disappointed for a bit. People get uptight about having change pushed in their faces, I get it.

But if they weren't so regressive in their views and habits they'd see how the things they're complaining about are old news and they're just now catching up.

I hope they memory hole this shit too. I won't. But I hope they do.

edit: to expound a bit, i legit never see Biden signs here in the Triad (NC).

i think that was the weirdest thing about visiting DC earlier this year. I never saw any Trump shit in 5 days, but the dem gang was VISIBLE even if they were all split up at that point.

so i guess its down to where you live.

If you think about Ta-Nehisi's 'Donald Trump is the first white president' article in mind it sets a context of what Trump represents, what BLM represents to the other side, the significant symbolism police represent, etc.

Well - actually, shit, wait I think I get it.

Test Theory:

Uppity negroes, minorities and women are going hard for inequality and historic injustice and questioning established social hierarchies.

White men are having a hard time separating the individual self from criticisms on and about the meaning of whiteness, the patriarchy, and what it means to be an American.

They feel bad man.

So, waving that flag is a rebellious attempt to at once retain their perceived loss of relevancy & legitimacy while also in a twisted way playing the bad guy for the "good of the country"

AKA

"it's ok to be white"

AKA

"I didn't feel like a deplorable until Hillary said I was. No matter what I say you're all going to accuse me of being a racist deplorable. Fuck that, I might as well wave the flag then"

AKA

"I worked for mine, the left wants to just give everybody free stuff, this flag represents what SHOULD be happening in this country - jobs, manufacturing, morals"

AKA

"I know nothing of politics. I feel powerless. I don't understand the world. Change is scary. The thought of no longer being more important than a black man or a woman fucking scares me and makes me angry. What happened when the world fit me? I no longer fit this world. I want someone to speak for me. I want someone to put things back the way they were. Fuck this game of politics. Why can't I just speak my mind? When I speak my mind I'm called a racist.I no longer fit this world. I want someone to speak for me. I want someone to put things back the way they were.Trump will do that for me."

The house with the Trump flag is painted bright orange with a purple door.

The house with the Biden flag also had a homemade RBG memorial in the front yard lol.

I dont really get the sign or flag thing either way. Its like bumper stickers. I dont know you and I dont care.

but Biden/Harris signs are super common where I am, or just things that say "Vote". don't know what it indicates but it makes me semi-hopeful.

you see the occasional Trump car sticker or i've seen video of those idiots caravaning through so cal neighborhoods with their pick ups and flags and shit.

i definitely know people who are voting for him. Some are very vocal, some are more low key. My friend's kid's mom is a complete wackadoodle. Her and her sister rock "Trumpette" gear and shit like that. I don't know anyone who has changed their mind about him. At least publicly. Definitely know those who are further dug in behind him.

more signs just means more people feel emboldened go that hard. especially in certain areas

i know enough people who hardly say anything political but drop just enough hints to know they're likely voting for him, and probably just more comfortable being open about it in certain settings.

There are a few more who don’t have shit in their yard or on their car.

This idea that all these Trump voters are the same is just lazy and it’s how we got tricked the first time. That business man and that soccer mom.. those educated white women that people swore would never vote for Trump...

yeah.. can’t trust them.

So this “he lost the burbs” doesn’t sit well until I actually see it on Nov. 3rd

but I work in Huntersville.

and let’s just say Huntersville and everything north of it is Trump land

I see Trump flags but I know damn well a lot of these Birkdale Village moms are Trump supporters too. It’s fools sh to think all these Trump voters roll the same way.

Signs in our neighborhood have been probably 10-1 pro-Biden or anti-Trump ("Fire the Liar" for example).

However, most of the boats that we see have Trump flags. Even when they don't organize a parade, boaters wave those flags like crazy. I'd say that probably 30%-40% of all boats I see downtown have Trump flags.

And I've never seen a boat with a Biden flag, probably because they don't exist.

That’s like, the one area where you should be kicked back and chilling hard. Not trying to be a political asshole.
