FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Historic Delivery of 650 Million Face Coverings is in Partnership with the White House Coronavirus Task Force, the Department of Health and Human Services and a Consortium of Textile Manufacturers

WASHINGTON — The U.S. Postal Service today announced it will distribute 650 million reusable cotton face coverings on behalf of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to every residential delivery point in America, beginning in areas which HHS has identified as experiencing high transmission rates of COVID-19 and to workers providing essential services throughout the nation during this pandemic.

This unprecedented undertaking is being done in partnership with the White House Coronavirus Task Force, and a consortium of textile manufacturers. Project: America Strong sub-task force within the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Unified Command Structure, is complementing the Administration’s whole-of-nation response to COVID-19

The first shipments are expected to reach U.S. households as early as April xx.

“The United States Postal Service is proud to partner with the White House Coronavirus Task Force, the Department of Health and Human Services and a consortium of textile manufacturers in delivering on this critical national initiative,” said Postmaster General and CEO Megan J. Brennan. ”Our organization is uniquely suited to undertake this historic mission of delivering face coverings to every American household in the fight against the COVID-19 virus. Our employees have been providing essential service to the American people throughout this crisis delivering vital goods and services and serving as a lifeline for millions of people as this pandemic has unfolded. Today, we stand ready to deliver, as we have for 240 years, help our country combat the pandemic.

”The Postal Service will utilize its unrivaled distribution network to deliver the face coverings. Letter carriers, rural carriers and others will deliver one pack of five face coverings to each residential delivery point and PO Box. The packs will arrive labeled with a generic Postal Service barcode, not a specific address, and will include HHS instructions on proper use.

HHS will determine the delivery points and timetable by counties within select geographic areas. Orleans and Jefferson parishes in Louisiana will be the first areas to receive face coverings, followed by King County, WA; Wayne County, MI, and New York.

The Postal Service provides a vital public service that is a part of this nation’s critical infrastructure.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Director Dr. Robert Redfield suggested Wednesday that using face masks could be more effective in limiting the spread of COVID-19 than a vaccine.

Speaking during a hearing of a U.S. Senate Appropriations subcommittee, Redfield called masks "our best defense" against the virus. He said that while a vaccine for the virus might not generate an immune response for 30 percent of those who take one, anyone wearing a mask would receive at least some level of protection.

"These face masks are the most important, powerful public health tool we have," Redfield said. "I will continue to appeal for all Americans, all individuals in our country, to embrace these face coverings... if we did for 6, 8, 10, 12 weeks, we'd bring this pandemic under control... we have clear scientific evidence they work."

"I might even go so far as to say that this face mask is more guaranteed to protect me against COVID than when I take a COVID vaccine," he added. "Because the immunogenicity may be 70 percent and if I don't get an immune response, the vaccine's not going to protect me. This face mask will."

You'll have to keep wearing your masks after the vaccine UNTIL the community infection rate drops to nearly 0%.

It's not 1 shot (or 2 shots) and everything is back to normal.

Only Trump would say that.

But his statements yesterday were reflective of just how much the Trump regime fucked this into a cocked hat. It can't be spun beyond his base who will believe anything.

Even their stooge (Redfield) can't play shit off and run the message they want regarding masks/vaccine because it's that detached from reality.

Now their bimbot has to try and run with "Trump was always pro-mask" but that's not going to work either when Trump spent the spring/summer giving Biden campaign add footage/quotes that says the exact opposite.

New Woodward audio from April 13 via CNN:

TRUMP: This thing is a killer if it gets you. If you're the wrong person, you don't have a chance.
WOODWARD: Yes, yes, exactly.
TRUMP: So this rips you apart.
WOODWARD: This is a scourge. And--
TRUMP: It is the plague.
