""TRUMP: It is the plague." April 13th"

New Woodward audio from April 13 via CNN:

TRUMP: This thing is a killer if it gets you. If you're the wrong person, you don't have a chance.
WOODWARD: Yes, yes, exactly.
TRUMP: So this rips you apart.
WOODWARD: This is a scourge. And--
TRUMP: It is the plague.

What is deranged is the fact that the President of the United States knowingly lied (on tape) to the American people about a disease that has disproportionately killed Black/Brown people and it gets crickets because of how much he and his administration has been able to re-shape norms.

They overwhelm people w/ crimes and scandal and they can't keep up and come to just accept it as 'well, yeah of course he did.'

That's the literal definition of derangement.

This has been the game all along. Inundate and Inure.

The Woodward stuff specifically.

And the degree that people jump to that point, without evaluating things from their own lens ... it completely warps reality.

Rather than people chiming in on what they think or feel about something, they pontificate like pundits about what masses of people will do in a period of time from now.

Like I have zero clue about how PimpTrickGangstaClik feels about this revelation. But I do know that you're concerned with how other people won't feel about this. And I believe that you have motivations and concerns outside of other people.

All I'm asking is why does it matter BEFORE acknowledging how horrific some of these things are? Are we becoming so numb?

All you did was post a quote. If you want to steer the discussion a certain way, then do that. Ask those questions. Don't leave it open then jump on people for going a direction you don't want.

I posted what I want to discuss related to the topic.

I don't want to discuss that other stuff, because I already got that figured out for myself. I don't get any value out of posting "Trump is a bad man" on OKP

You want people who have bashed Trump for 4 years to bash him some more before discussing if this will impact the election?

Do you know where you are?

You’re preaching to the choir.

Like take the NFL boycott issue. Everytime something pops up you do some version of “ratings” still up. And there’s many of us on here that don’t fuck with the league anymore. But instead of that being a point of conversation you point to the people that aren’t the people you’re interacting with on the message board. Meanwhile we’re on season 3? of no fantasy league.

And it’s the same with the election. Like there are real feelings, fears, outrages, and concerns about this stuff. Yet there’s a number of folks that always direct that to what it means for polls and votes. Meanwhile life is so much more than that.

Very nicely put, sir. Sometimes our role in all of this is to see horrifying crimes (passive and active, in the case of the hysterectomy post) committed against our friends and neighbors and to say, loudly and often, that it's evil.

not really sure why we have to say it every time before discussing the impact of it all on the masses.

I know where I am tho... you have to condemn in every post or you are painted as an ally of the evil empire.

Like he’s so comic villain that we don’t even discuss the destructo ray.
Every conversation is Trump is bad, some folks saying they didn’t expect it, then folks discussing that it doesn’t matter
And like ... mass deaths matter.

Things will always be as they are (bad) so nothing really matters.

It is largely a cover for people's passivity, an opportunity to remain disengaged because there is no sense in doing anything if nothing will change (because nothing ever changes).

We see it all the time on this site "Both sides are the same," "This doesn't won't/matter," "Americans/Whites were always like this and will always be like this," etc.

It is often done with complete disregard for things like actual data, history, policy, etc.

The flip side is "The Politics of Inevitablity" in which things will always sort themselves out and in the end and tend toward freedom/democracy etc.

Both lure people into either a false sense of security/insecurity and passivity because they take outcomes as predetermined and remove responsibility from individuals for acting during their moment in history.

There are still a few that will hear a lie so big and recognize it as a lie.

This will be a game of inches - Trump is trying to use the natural advantage given by the Electoral College plus voter suppression to eek out a win.

IF this puts even 1% of folks who were voting for Trump into Biden's camp it could help.

It's not going to help the 100 million people who LOVE T0urmp.

Although he/his accomplices have no interest in actually winning an election.

He just wants to steal an election.

That's why a president whose approval rating is under water doesn't give a shit about improving it. This is why he only plays to his base but never works on expanding it. It's why he's declared all methods democractic practices (mail-in voting, ballot drop-off boxes, etc) as methods of cheating, and have already declared any result other than him winning as something he will not recognize. It's why the RNC is spending 20 million dollars to send people to intimidate people at the polls and why Trump and people like Caputo are encouraging their followers to prepare to be violent should they lose (and even if they win).

These aren't the tactics of people worried about 'winning an election' these are the tactics of someone engaged in stealing one.

And indicative of the fact that this country's institutions and American people were never prepared for what we now face.

So the show goes on because there is no way to stop the show.

It's why I don't see Trump as a failed president but rather the most successful op of all time.
