Central Texas is OUT. Been out for a while. And the longer things are out, particularly as the election gets closer, it's only going to feel more dire.
Is this playing out everywhere?

He went to go buy some bullets and there was already a line before the opened. I don't feel as there's and end game. I think people are scared and they feel that a gun will save them. Some people are worried about riots, some massacres, some end of days, some looting. I think it varies. At the end of the day, fear is good for gun business.

and any sort of shooting due to the election (big IF here) would not be the thing itself but rather just a blip in the big picture.
I think people are imagining some long term dragging breakdown where it's a mixture of factors including covid, crashed economy, scary negroes coming to the neighborhood for retribution, scary white people coming to the neighborhood for retribution, scary MS13 coming to do things. out of work americans. antifa. terrorism, red flag events, the cabal, the new world order, marxist revolution, uppity blacks, right wing whites, etc.

Mr. Caputo on Sunday complained on Facebook that he was under siege by the media and said that his physical health was in question and his “mental health has definitely failed.”

...per range visit, and maybe hit the range a few (2-5) time per year.
If someone shoots 200 rounds at the range three times a year that's 600 rounds.
Having a 1,000 round (for the "average" shooter) "stockpile" enables one to keep ammo and hand and still go out and shoot.
Some folks shoot several times a week, or in their backyard with friends so they could easily burn through tens of thousands of rounds in a year.
It's no so much about having it for future war shootouts (who *really* thinks they are gonna be alive after exchanging 100s or 1,000s of rounds in combat? lol). It's for having it when so one can shoot when they want to.
Also, prices fluctuate based on politics, so folks tend to grab heavy when prices are low because they tend to shoot up real high around election time (like now).

There's tons of shotgun ammo, but typical handgun and AR/AK rifle calibers are hard to get with sporadic stock coming in (target and self-defense). There's still a decent supply of hunting ammo as well (e.g., 308, 30-06). Fortunately I bought a decent amount of self-defense 9mm before prices got really crazy, and I have plenty of target ammo for ARs. Ended up getting a .22 just because I can still find it for cheap (around 4.5 cents a round) just to plink with.

After working in the Reagan and Bush administrations Caputo lived in Russia worked for Boris Yeltsin for years after the fall of Soviet Union. He would go on to work as Media Advisor to Vladimir Putin to increase Putin's standing in the US
He moved back to the United States to work with some guy named Roger Stone and then went to ply his trade in some place called the Ukraine.

Ever since COVID hit price went up and supply started slowly going down. Then protests started and folks started buying up guns and ammo like crazy and now with the Election up in the air, all sides are buying like crazy.
Plus manufactures are having a hard time keeping up with supply due to staffing and there's some issue with materials since some of it comes from China.
The last I heard is it won't normalize until after the Spring of 2021 and that depends on COVID and NOV.
Overall people are freaking out and it sucks cause I'm one of those go a shoot a few times a month people cause I do three-gun and IDPA shooting. I have a lot of ammo reserved at home but I like to have some more range ammo which is disappearing and an incredible rate.

especially .45 ACP. If you scour, you can find some good deals online, still...but the walk-in stores around me are out. When they do restock, they out again, pretty quick.
