she's cool, but I'm never really checked for her much. her music never really grabbed me past a few songs.

seems like okp doesn't ride for her artistically, but appreciates her somewhat.

I'm talking out of turn for sure. lol

after that, she went full on thot'esh with her music and her appeal was lost with me.

then there was the lemonade thing.

then the lion king thing.

then she turned towards the BLM stuff which sounds gimmicky.

i guess there's an audience for everything she does.

A lot of weird shit has been mentioned in this post, but for me, I just like the song and the album.

I haven't been a the biggest fan of Beyonce's music throughout the years, but I do feel like it's progressively gotten better as of late. I personally think she's evolving artistically. She also hasn't done anything I feel is worthy of writing her off forever. Even if she had, I'm the kind of person who can appreciate music solely for the artistic value of it.

Her previous image isn't a huge concern for me. Black women and men alike have very unique struggles concerning how to present, what we're challenging, whether we want to avoid stereotypes or disregard them altogether, etc. We have journeys. Is her current presentation disengenuous? I have no idea. I just know I like where she is currently. I also like that she uplifts Black women WITHOUT downing Black men. She's even married to one. If we can't even allow our brothers and sisters to have a journey and path to "enlightenment" and betterment, then what's even the point of all this preaching and teaching niggas be doing? Why do your insights matter if you gonna bash Black people who seemingly take heed to them? Niggas just be wanting to sound smart but don't really gaf about the community for real.

Anyone suggesting they can't appreciate Beyonce because they SIMULTANEOUSLY grew up on Dionne Warwick and Mary J Blige (as if that's even possible) should be written off as either a white person trying to stir division with Black folks or just a complete troll... which is all that person ever does.

My bad if I'm off topic, but I just used this comment to address other trolling and wannabe-deep comments in the post.

I didn't think this would turn into shitting on Bey. guess I should've read the room better.

agree tho. there needs to be room for an artist to grow. she was a whole child when she came out. has a fully career going, decade long now. and has moved into different lanes for her presentation and content.

she's never really been my cup of tea, but there are a few songs that I really dig from earlier projects.

I grew up on Aretha, Patti Labelle, Dionne Warwick Tina Turner Chaka Khan, Anita Baker, Mary J Blige, Toni Braxton, Whitney Houston so many more. Beyoncé don’t have the songs she a good enough singer but, it’s all image with her. Just because she has a song about blackness don’t give her a pass on her music being bland and simply following trends. Sorry I speak the truth.

I would say Fantasia. Beyoncé has star power that’s her biggest strength. She a pretty good singer but if you compare her to the greats she falls short. Her songs on that Taylor Swift... they hits but they ain’t nothing that’s gonna move you. She’s a pop star and that’s cool. She just hasn’t had a song I’m feeling yet.

I still remember her at the Super Bowl trying to imitate the Black Panthers with her ass out and straight blonde hair flowing, Kathleen Cleaver would never...

completely unglued about words on an internet messageboard and say things that they wouldn't even think about saying to someone in person.

A lot of us have grown and evolved over the years as adults do but its funny when people try to completely re-invent themselves, usually under a different name but some keep the same username and expect you forget the bullshit they posted 10-15 years ago lol

Name another contemporary...hell....not even contemporary...any other Black female (hell male singer too) singer that's created a full length children - centric LP of this caliber...

I'll wait....

Start to finish I can play every.single.song. on this album to my two young daughters without hesitation, reservation or a single wince.... and be confident that what they're hearing is solid Blackness through & through....

It’s great she’s doing black nursery rhymes but, she ranks low when it comes to black female performers. She might be a better humanitarian. I’m not mad at all like all the folk who cry when Beyoncé loses come Grammy time. Whitney never had that problem because only a few could reach her level. When Bey can’t out do Adele Bey needs to look in the mirror.
