i need a scale to weigh packages. gonna have to take these first few to the post office just to make sure the postage is right and they won't get sent back (since the postage i charged and printed was based on already listed items - should be fine but i better check).

In response to Reply # 0

last official word was back in may that the sale was almost complete. asked the boss a few weeks back and he was pretty vague and made me doubt if it had gone through.

hopefully some very good news on friday.

it is titled "Status of the Company"

could be bad news due to covid but i think thats unlikely.

could just be a routine, this is our ytd sales vs goals, go team!

they usually do a meeting before holidays so i think odds are high there isnt much news.

they had a meeting for production yesterday. afterwards i heard a couple dudes say "at least were still getting the bonuses" i figured they meant the monthly hazard ones.

coworker just told me he went to that meeting and that yeah the sale will probably wrap up by the end of october and we will still get a bonus for it. i figure theres more to it but since he didnt say anything bad i figure theres nothing immediate to worry about.

did sound like they were opening the door to getting rid of the hazard pay bonus.

sale is expected to be completed by end of oct and theyre still committed to sharing the profits with everyone.

business is doing well.

i guess everyone has been saving up their vacation days. they told us we have to use them since they will not roll over lol i think i got 8 left and 3 pto days on top of that.

I'm a wantrepreneur

I've read all the books.

I've started some ideas and failed. Some ideas paid the rent.

I've not been able to get past my mental blocks.

Anyway, after reading the zillionth article I came across one that was like "start your business in an hour"

it was just covering the dumb basics - registering, obtaining an EIN, etc.

So I obtained an EIN and even came up with an LLC name. I have no idea what I will do with it. im just glad I took some random first step. towards what? I have no clue.

I'm between starting on something sustainable and boring vs. some moonshot ideas I have.

I think in the end what might make sense is going through the motions with a small and boring venture to learn more and then starting on a the moonshots.

Kid is six weeks out (please keep staying put) but we were looking through pictures the other day and you end up forgetting what someone used to look like when they've looked different for so long.

And everyone will say she looks gorgeous, or glowing, and all of that ... and she definitely does ... but I miss being ATTRACTED to her.

Feeling sexy or considering her own attractiveness is far from her mind at the moment and I sure as hell am smart enough to not bring it up.

I got all kind of COVID weight and I'm not pregnant so who am I to judge?

its a chicken and egg thing.

if you make her feel sexy and desired I mean, once the stress of OHMYGODKEEPTHISDAMNBABYBREATHING mellows out of course. Because if you do its kind of like, igniting a fire so way down the road when shes ready to reclaim her body she will do it because she wants to - and she knows it won't just be in vain, you will be there cheering her on and appreciating her work.

ALSO - new babies are stressful, moms go through a lot, if this is her first kid, it can be rough. It's like the rule of being a criminal; break one law at a time. Don't be out here driving with a body in the trunk with a broken taillight. That said, you got new baby stress, covid stress, and stress stress - try not to include another parameter of stress.

It's real though. Not all men are built the same. When my wife was pregnant I had a hard time seeing her as my focus of desire. She was in pain all the time, shit just ached...all over...all the time. But, despite that she was still wanting me to be hounding her and I was thinking "woman...I'm not here to hurt you because I can't keep my hands off you. now, you want some water and a foot massage? I can do that, all day, everyday."

it aint easy.

I GET IT.

Trust me to the first season of Lovecraft County and god I do. I'm holed up with a three year old and 1 year old and a wife with a job where she has to face the public regularly - so if and when the nanny decides to take the week off...thats on me.

It’s been the three of us. That’s it
Her mom is set to come down on the 30th and that’s the first person we’ll be interacting closely with since March.
We don’t go out to eat, we haven’t shopped in stores, we’ve on less than 5 occasions gone out to parks, occasionally we’ll go for a drive
But nothing
We’ve treated this with above and beyond safety.

Me and wife - both only children. my parents live on the opposite coast, her parents live 3 hours away.

we went from no care at all where I was doing 95% of care and on the bleeding edge of losing my job.

I tried to make an arrangement where I was getting up at 5 to work until 8 then care for the boys until 12, then work for an hour while the baby naps then just be on full time parent duty until bedtime.

What I didnt realize is how quickly that would burn me out. I got burnout and started waking up late and having weeks where NO work got done.

Management took notice, I was fucking up, wife was tied up she couldn't move either since she was new on her job.

Then, around July I had had enough. After some asking around in my building we found a lady who worked as a nanny before and was ready to start working again now that her kid was old enough to go to school.

So, we worked out a situation. Shes in the same building, she walks up to our floor, works for the day and when shes done she walks back down to her floor. She needs the money, we need the help so its mutual.

After that, I got it together at work, and walked back from the edge of being fired as fuck.

I don't know how we got into the struggle olympics. I don't know how any of this got into things being a humble brag - the only thing I'm bragging about is being able to keep my job and feed my family. Why does it matter how I do it? Its the same cost as day care and actually a bit cheaper.

Legs - its not an IF situation. Here's what happened, Sunday evening, wife goes "...oh yeah, so when the nanny comes in on TUESDAY" I'm like, "Wheres Monday, why is she not coming in ON MONDAY?"
wife says, "...oh. WEDIDNTTELLYOU, DAMNHOMIE, IMSORRYABOUTTHAT."

then a scramble to find a sitter through company sponsored backup care.
find a sitter, confirm appointment, and then....canceled at 11pm, Sunday night. Welp, guess I'm going to have to call in sick.

Monday rolls around - I'm with the kids. Nanny sends text: "I'm FUCT up ya'll, I think I need to take the week off" then she proceeds to send us actual images of her inflamed ass throat. Strep, or some other communicable shit. WE BELIEVE YOU SIS.

Then a scramble to book someone for the rest of the week.
I get confirmation for all the days. Tuesday - goes off without a hitch, except I get a call to be informed that our sitter scheduled for wednesday has canceled. Well shit, guess I'm taking that day off too.

So now, it's Friday and I can't focus for shit because the week has been fucked up. And you dudes are weirdly giving me shit for an ad hoc solution to my problem.

it's all jokes my dude....
we all in the struggle together...
just glad this site is still here so that we can vent and bag on each other a little....
Hope your nanny pulls through, y'all DEF. hit the lotto with that one!
We thought about nanny for the same reasons, it'd be the same cost if not CHEAPER than the daycare expense we're still footing...but the biggest hurdle was we wouldn't have any control over where the nanny went nor what she (yes, it'd be a she, I ain't fckn w/ no manny's) did while not here....
Keep pushing!

i mean, not a good 10 year run, but a good 1.5 year run. lol.

don't get me wrong - i still took the L from SNKRS this morning on the Biohack 1's, but i won them from a local boutique.

maybe this will be the start of something, lol.

next one is the community garden dunks so if i can win the biohack's and those i'll take that as a good 2 in a row run, hahaha.

In response to Reply # 34

are raffled off by boutiques or by nike on their SNKRS site/app.

now, you don't just get em for free (some boutiques do have free pair raffles every now and then) what you win is the opportunity to actually purchase a pair.

so, if you win, you KNOW you have a pair if you want em. also, sometimes for the raffle they have you enter the size you want and your credit card info. if you win, you have no choice to buy them, they charge your card and they are yours whether you changed your mind about wanting them or not, haha.

get a pair.

by the time they are actually released, the resale prices on these are hundreds or thousands more than what they cost retail.

the pair i won today cost $170. they are already re-selling for over $300 and that's a LIGHT Pair.

some of the dunks releasing lately cost $100-120 and the day they release you can resale them for $2K.

i mean, if i love the shoe i buy em and i rock em. if they are that valuable then as long as you don't beat them to death they still have resale value well over retail if you ever want to get rid of em.

if i know a shoe is reselling for hella but i don't love it, i'll try for a pair to flip so i can use that money to get shoes i do love.

i'm flipping these biohacks because i can't really pull off Jordan highs. if these were mids? i'd buy and rock because i love the colorway. but still, i'mma try em on first just to make sure they look on me how most highs look. if the look good? i'll keep em.

he does wear a mask but hes been traveling for work and pleasure through all of this. he seems to go back and forth on how seriously to take it. he has already had it, i think it was pretty rough on him.

i think hes pretty much just trying to move forward but taking some precautions still.

i felt like a douche last night. i was the first at the restaurant and requested the table for 10. by the end of the night i think there were 20 of us.

im a bit surprised by my other brother. he seems very willing to go out to eat now. when we were looking to go to houston in may/june he didnt seem like he was okay doing so. he seemed to be taking it serious and looking to be cautious. now he and his wife wear their mask with their nose exposed. hes a big dude so i kinda get that it might affect his breathing but i really dont think theres much of an impact. they seem to be over it.

quite dumb admittedly. initially we had talked about getting together at my brothers house last night. maybe 8 people. then it turned to dining in and 10 people. then yeah.

i know saturday they want to do something at a park. so at least that would be outdoors. im kinda eh on going. thursday is being considered not sure what the plan is. i figure i will go to either thursday or saturday but maybe not both. im hoping sunday is at someones house and a small group.
