the only house rules we ever played by are
- train: sequential numbers can be played either forwards or backwards, color be damned
- colors: you can play same colors on top (makes the game go too quick)
- stack: you can play a draw card onto another one and pass the sum onto the next person. i think the most it ever got up to was like a draw 16

That isn't in the rules? Where if you get a draw 2/4 on you, you can put the same car down and now the next person has to draw 4/8?

I was like nawl, we aint doing that. I had never of it before yesterday, but I asked another friend of mine and she says her fam plays like that. so I guess it aint new. just new to me.

Looking at the rules it looks like its wrong, or a house rule. It does feel off.

PDf warning: https://service.mattel.com/instruction_sheets/42001pr.pdf

It does say you must draw 2 cards and your turn is skipped. It doesn't have an except or unless clause to it. I'm guessing some people take the last line saying a draw 2 card can only be played on a matching color or another draw 2 card to mean you can play it instead of drawing 2 cards.

because of her 2 draw, her turn is skipped and now it’s your turn? it doesn’t make sense why then you would draw 4.

son put down draw 2
daughter needs to draw 2 cards and isnt allowed to play a card
tariq gets to play next

since they were playing with house rules
son put down draw 2
daughter put down another draw 2
tariq now needs to draw 2 twice

>he gave her a draw 2. rather than draw, she put a draw 2 on
>top of his and said I was supposed to draw four.

That's always been standard in my time playing.

IMO it's much more fun that way.

Years ago a coworker put me on to the out of turn method, where anyone can play out of turn if they have a card identical to the one on the table.

That shit is Uno on steroids.

You got a red reverses, and I'm two people away? I got a red reverse, so I play it, undoing your reversal, but also skipping the two people between us at the same time.

Those changes, in addition to the new "swap hands" and make your own rule cards have made it a significantly more fun, strategic, and engaging game.

You can play out of turn if you have the exact same card.

That's the way I play.

Sometimes, that game winds up rather short, especially if it's an older, standard deck.

The current decks contain a "swap hands" card, and 4 "name your rule" cards.

under the aforementioned rules, the game is absolutely insane with those in the deck. I leave those blank, so that you can make up the rule on the spot, with certain restrictions. No "Draw 20" type rules, but you can hit everyone with a Draw 5.

Others, the game becomes a gloriously fun, sadistic, vengeful, vindictive marathon.

My 9 year old daughter went on a 10 game undefeated streak under those rules. We've gained on her, but she's still got something like a 23-8 record. She's on some Spurs shit.

My 3 year old son stays kickin ass and he plays with all his cards showing face up on the table.

And talks shit on top of that!

We play stacks where you can put multiples down as long as it’s the same card as well as what they called “pass the buck” in the OG post.

Shit is hilarious. Sometimes there’s just nothing you can do...lol
