So, I've taken an interest in recently released music inspired by the recent police killings and resulting unrest.
I know there's some other music posts trending in GD right now, but I think the music I'm asking for/sharing with this post is distinct.
Rather than new music - or, I guess, music from any time period - that's popular, calling people to action, etc... I'm more interested in music created/released in the last month or so in which artists explicitly express their pain, commentary, despondence, compassion, fear, frustration, defiance, solidarity, or in some cases even guilt, through song.
It definitely makes for some reflective listening, eg. when an algorithm plays a bunch one after the other, or you put them in a playlist etc. I've got a fair number I've come across which I'll link below, but eager to hear others so please share if you know of any I miss or as more are released. Genre doesn't matter, and neither does an artists' stature or race - although I will group music from allied voices (eg. non-black, black diaspora) seperately.
