I either forgot or never knew the reason he was fired/set this whole thing off. I remember it was an issue he had with the department but I don't think I ever knew the exact reason (reporting another officer for excessive force).

Makes sense the media focused more on him being a "disgruntled, rogue, ex-cop"

NEVER heard that it was because he reported excessive force against his partner.

This sums it up pretty well. Fatigue, anger, fear, sadness, disappointment in so many folks I have to share this earth with, assumption of potential doom damage and violence for real if there’s no changes seen soon, all of that. I enjoyed that someone would go there to the degree that Dave did.

People want to laugh. They want Dave Chappelle to make them laugh. Not talk about uncomfortable things.

Already dealing with men at work not including Black Women in their efforts. In the Fred Hammond/Kirk Franklin verzuz they read a list of victims with no women - granted it was amended to add women after the comments blew up - but like damn...is it that easy to erase us?

Sadly most of us men focus on men first. Not coming for him, but that’s part of the shift we need to make.

I don't follow Hammond or Franklin, so I didn't know about that. That sounds messed up. The work situation does too. But Dave's inclusion may not be the most fitting, because aside from him being a comedian who openly said he's not trying to overtalk the streets, his observations were very specific. Meaning, he talked about Floyd due to the protests being about him. He talked about the military guys to make the point about vets fighting terrorism. I'm not aware of any black women military officers who were said to kill police. The Castile situation is about as good an example as you can give of someone who the NRA should've backed but didn't. As one of the few people who went hard af for Korryn, I know most ppl (including black women) rode against me on that one, saying she was in the wrong, so Idk if she would make the point he was trying to make. He could've used the Breonna incident to make the NRA point, but that still would've been about her boyfriend who shot back. These are just the 3 points he hit and the examples that possibly fit them the best.

Also, black men are killed by police 20 times more than black women (1,662 black males in the last 4 yrs vs 69 black women, by modest stats), so there are just way more examples us being killed by police. That's definitely not to say black women don't matter. Every single one of us does. And there are, in fact, men who overlook what happens to women, so I don't wanna discount that (the Hammond/ Franklin incident is good proof of that). I also want to say that this isn't a 1:1 ratio kind of deal. Despite black men and women being equal parts of the population, black men are already VERY disproprotianately incarcerated, then we are VERY disproportionately killed by police. We care about black women, of course. But I think it's very understandable, given the rate of our elimination from society, that black men be alarmed about what's happening to us. It so often seems that we're told that we aren't allowed to have that right, even if we're dropping like flies out here from multiple factors.

Put it like this, black women are 2x as likely to be affected by domestic violence as black men. Black men do not seek to center ourselves in that discussion, and we'd be shouted down if we did anyway. Black women are centered, as you should be, because it happens to you more. Black men are 20 (TWENTY!) times as likely to be killed by police. If black males can't center ourselves in a situation where our DEATHS come in that kind of disparity, do we even matter at all? What other group is treated like this? Again, I think all these deaths deserve attention, but if ALL of them get attention, please understand that black men would get even more attention than we do now, because it's happening to one of us just about every day... literally.

I hope you understand that I'm not trying to discount what you're saying, but really trying to put some things in perspective and have a productive dialogue about this.
