Machines weren't working. They combined some precincts because we lost some due to Covid. They had fewer voting machines because of social distancing.

Also a lot of people who requested absentee ballot just didn't get them (which also means they'll have to go through extra steps to vote in person to ensure they're not voting twice).

I tried to early vote but those lines were much worse.

AND ITS GONNA FUCKING RAIN TODAY

- I moved recently so tried to confirm my polling place this morning for the fifth time (I had already checked several times but just had to check again) and the state voter page wasn't working

- Got to the voting location and the line just wasn't moving. Finally around 745 we started a slow trickle and someone came outside and said 'we're trying to get things working please be patient' - checked twitter and the mayor was tweeting about all the machines being down at my site and other sites

- Made it inside and the woman next to me was having issues b/c the machine said she already voted. Saw at least 3 others waiting with the same problem.

- Honestly don't love the new machines and shared styluses (that might have just been my site tho)

- Finished around 9 and walking out the line was not very long, but I can just imagine lunch/after work. And it's overcast and might rain today...

The thing with voter suppression like this is it's never fully investigated, it's never punished and there are never do-overs.

Even throughout today and before to make sure as many as possible have easy access to voting. It can’t be fixed over night unfortunately becuz gop tactics for suppress turn out are very entrenched, variant and insidious.

But in terms of compiling issues to take action on, reminding people of the correct voting days etc, fair fight has been active

Since 2019 my mom wanted a Warren/Abrams ticket. I would keep asking what Stacy stands for on a national level that that would make her ideal for VP, especially in comparison to Warren when she almost won Georgia. And I was told that it was for protecting voting rights. Then Bloomberg happened and Iowa happened and I saw she had cause, money, and opportunity and kept waiting for her to be vocal about the voter suppression happening in the Democratic Primary, but silence. Now seeing her own state having issues where she has been vocal in why she should be VP, it just seems she has no reason to make this a priority until the General Election. It just doesn't pass the eye test from here, but if she has been doing work locally in the state in preparation for today then I guess the experience of voters can be secondary to her efforts.

We went to my nephews graduation and stayed a few days. Then my wife interviewed for a position at Savannah State but they couldn’t find the funds to hire her. Second time my wife was picked for a college gig.

It’s humid and slow as hell but it’s a sexy lil small town.

The tourist areas are nice but there are lots of issues that I wouldn't want to deal with now that I know better.

Lived in Atlanta since 06. I was very tempted to move out of state a few times but you can also fly pretty much anywhere from here which is a HUGE plus

Georgia has a long way to go...politically, socially, economically, education...it's not as bad as some places but we just have a long way to go

Granted I haven't *lived* there since I graduated HS in 2004 but look at these emails the mayor got recently.

http://facebook.com/MayorJohnsonSAV/posts/2859768617394139

Savannah is a hop/skip/jump away from Glynn County where Ahmaud Arbery was murdered. That story didn't surprise me at ALL.

I just haven't seen a lot of change in anything. Everytime I go home it's the same. Like I said the tourist areas are nice but the actual city? Violent. Underfunded. Lots of abandoned areas.

Both sides of my fam are from Savannah & we get up there maybe twice a year. I've got a lot of love for that city.

I can see how visitors really enjoy it. But I also see the other side that affects the folks who live there, especially black folks.

Just like you, I wouldn't live there unless I was much older than I am now. And even then, I think it's a bit too small for me.

Public trans is eh. Traffic sux. There’s plenty to do, depending on your age/prefs. It’s black af in most of the metro, but that’s changing.

Outside the metro, it’s typical Deep South. Very slow. There are pockets of touristy stuff like the north ga mtn area. Or Savannah.

At my Polling location in my Black neighborhood. Steady stream of voters, only White face was *one* of the poll workers and i had no wait and was done in under 10 minutes.

I live off Cascade. This neighborhood is unmistakably BeeeLack. So there are anecdotes for everything but no one should have to wait 3 hours to vote, this can be properly prepared for, in densely populated areas have more places to vote. There is no sufficient reason why that isn’t the case

Pulled me up, they were like absentee ballot issued. I was like I never received it (which I hadn’t) and they just gave me my card for the machine and the little stylus

I voted for Tomlinson to go against Purdue in the fall. Was an early fan and she never lost me, I think she will be a great senator, but I know ossoff will probably get it but I’ll be happy to vote for either of them or Sarah Riggs Amico. Anyone better than the trump rubber stamp that is David Purdue.

I also didn’t know someone was even running against Lewis in the 5th. I voted for Lewis tho but the other guy must not have had any money.

Everything else was a bit of a blur. I just voted for as many women as I could or the Blackest names listed, all those judges and what not.

I was really annoyed I didn’t get my mail in ballot and even slightly annoyed today by how close the machines were to each other (clusters of four booths but each booth right next to each other) but overall about the usual experience for a primary

Amico turned me away a bit more b/c of 'former republican' and Tomlinson being from Columbus kinda reminded me of home, but I probably wouldn't be upset by any of the 3

And YES at how close the machines were. People walking behind me could see my whole damn ballot if they wanted to.

In response to Reply # 23

Ossoff might feel the same way but at least he was decent enough not to put it on his website.

A sustainable *two* state solution. I’m not sure declaring support for Israel will ever not be a thing for American politicians, especially for federal office, but I agree it would have been more settling if she had emphasized her support for a two state solution over support specifically for Israel

You would think after you were accused of voter fraud two years ago; Stacey Abrams has risen to public prominence talking about how fugazi the election was; you had extra time due to the pandemic; AND people have predicted that this election was going to be shady...with all THAT you would think that the state would go ALL out to make sure we weren't the subject of national scrutiny...you would think...

need to be held accountable. Not just Kemp. I heard earlier the Fulton folks were sniping at the SOS and vice versa but all of them are responsible for ensuring a fair and efficient voting process

The conspiracy theorists in me wonders if Trump and them were behind covid because it is the best way to suppress voter turnout.

I know it ain’t true but these numbers are scary.

https://www.npr.org/2020/05/26/860458708/pandemic-puts-a-crimp-on-voter-registration-potentially-altering-electorate

I’m still scared the GOP will manhandle this election.

TBH the fact that you're even a mod here fits squarely within Jag's narrative of OK-sanctioned aggression, bullying, and toxicity. *shrug*

Apparently the Zoom is only for 100 people so people are blowing up the Youtube comments. People can't figure out how to unmute.

Wouldn't mind if folks got lambasted like that LA Police Commissioner meeting
