"How's (their) turd president looking after the Covid-19 dust settles?"

He reacted to the crisis late AF. The first dollars for struggling businesses are already spent. People are dying, people are unemployed, he's making claims that the virus has now peaked (really tho?) and he's trying to put the blame on WHO.

Will he AGAIN be able to somehow magically weather this shitstorm and retain the approval of his braindead voters from here on and going into November?

I don't live in the US (I used to live in NY) and I'm not eligible to vote. BUT: If this clown makes it out of this mess too.... Will *they* still ride for him after this?

2 things are going to determine whether he gets elected

1) Whether the independents/on the fence voters aren't falling for his BS
2) Voting in November isn't completely fucked up due to COVID

Democrats are already trying to expand voting my mail, but naturally anything that makes it easier to vote is getting shot right down by the Repugs in the Senate

But how is he gonna escape the blame for this mess? I know this conversation is miles past tired at this point, but I'm guessing this hurts his fanbase more directly and in their face / at their homes than any of the previous shitstorms have done?

Its crazy to picture him changing the narrative of this mess in a way that serves him at the end of it, with so many people dying, so many people unemployed, all the colossal losses the country including the MAGAs will suffer because of this. Who's to blame but the president?? If they fuck with the voting tho, damn....

These morons are so far gone that even deaths of loved ones due to this asshole's (and his "admin"'s) incompetence won't shake them, I don't think.

But yea - I don't typically wish death on people but in some ways I hope a large percentage of 45* voters' close family members die and they finally see the light. It may be the only way.

He's already trying to blame the WHO, and if my social media timelines are any indication, it's working at least to some degree.

It SHOULD shake at least a solid percent of his voters, people are braindead but not 100% of all MAGAs are *that* brainwashed by this idiot's antics. If he manages to spin this one, damn. I've lost faith in mankind about 1000 times these past 42 months, but if he dodges this one.... Shit

Like I said I've already 100% lost faith in this country, and like 95% lost faith in humanity overall. But I hope I'm proven wrong.

The repugs and MAGAs have dug their heels in. Swing voters are inherently stupid.

I've lost complete faith in this country. So I think he takes it. Especially considering dems put forth another possibly-rapey old white guy to counter him.

Hope I'm proven wrong.

Don't share it at all. But applaud it.

And I'm not saying you guys are wrong, per se. I'm just confident that repugs will find a way to use this to their advantage come November. They cheat in every election. This whole situation will make it easier. They will fight mail-in voting tooth and nail, etc.

I'm also sorta convinced they'll find a way to "legally" cancel the election altogether.

Yep, they will. They'll blame all of his COVID-19 failures on socialism, abortion, Hillary Clinton, Black Lives Matter and George Soros.

the closest thing i see to any of them cracking is they're not posting about him as much. the occasional blame obama meme or how the dems are trying to stop him from saving us, but it's far less and they post mostly prayer type stuff.

i stopped posting even occasional political content on fb like a year ago. i suppose i could throw some Trump bait out there and see if they bite. i don't have the energy though. From friends who do post anti-trump stuff, i'll skim the comments and i still see people chiming in downplaying or claiming the death rate is inaccurate. It's always the same type of white dude who claims he's not a Trump person, yet will always defend him.

i think we might see some cracks as this wears us all down, even if they don't admit it publicly.

I have seen two reactions.

1. They don't want to talk about Trump.
2. They love saying "they are ALL idiots" referring to all politicians. Like a couple have focused on calling Cuomo late to react when whatever he has done isn't nearly as egregious as Trump.

On a friend's FB post, another mutual friend (from our hometown) did the "they're all clowns" when he couldn't answer to why 45* would want to put his name on the stimulus checks.

And, re: Mynoriti's point above, just the day before I had a friend of a friend of a friend do the "TRUMP 2020 !" bullshit on my own wall when I posted an article about 45*'s endless objective failures.

... I don't see a single one of these people voting for Biden. They view him as just as bad or worse than 45*.

So either these people vote 3rd party, or stay home. Which, I don't know for sure, but I'd have to imagine still benefits 45*.

These of course are blue blood conservatives but the whole case against Biden is that he is a moderate Republican lite. The downside is that it might turn off progressives but their might be some moderates who he picks up.

For the record though, I think energizing the base is way more important than getting swing voters but I think Biden can do a bit of both with a progressive platform and VP and, well, being an old life long politician white guy.

Those people are not enough to win the presidency. Trump won because (a) Hillary kept a lot of people at home and (b) there were some voters who were willing to give Trunmp a chance because they thought trump would grow-up to the office and be a non-partisan running American like a business.

There are a lot of people in the (a) camp who really thought there wouldn't be a difference between electing Trump and HRC. I just had a die hard Bernie supporter admit on a group chat that his friend probably wouldn't have died from Corona if HRC were president. It was a big admission for someone who was always bashing establishment democrats.

There are a lot people that fell into the (b) camp. Hell even Dave Chappelle got on SNL and said let's give him a chance.

But anyway, we can't judge how November will turn out based on how loud and vocal the Maggots are. They are indeed members of a death cult.

I think those two conditions won't apply in November.

But I think it will be a combination of Covid-19 and the coming recession that will convince enough independents/Bernie supporters, and moderate GOP members to vote Biden.

Biden needs to run on how he has direct experience pulling the US out of a deep recession and he should run on how while with the Obama administration they successfully handled swine flu, Ebola outbreak and Zika. As well as hammer the GOP on healthcare since a lot of people are losing healthcare now that they are unemployed.

On a side note, the Democrats in the House and Senate shouldn’t pass any more stimulus bills unless they get 100% what they want.

This is more *obviously* impacting everyone, but a lot of his bullshit has objectively impacted everyone negatively, no matter who you are.

But they stood by. And made excuses. Even in the face of indisputable evidence that he is working against their interests.

That's why I have no faith. We live in a post-truth era, I can't stress that enough. Even in the Bush years, repugs ditched him near the end of his 2nd term for various reasons.

That hasn't happened w/Trump and he's done a lot of things that are worse than Bush ever did (though I will always maintain the Iraq war tops everything in overall impact).

this dude i went to school with is a straight up #covidhoax-er posting dumb shit every few days like "I talked to my friend works in the ER and it's empty!"

he'll get a couple co-signs by fellow morons, but mostly even a lot of his fellow gun toting don't-tread-on-me types are either poucning on him on some straght up fuck you, or sincerely chiming in to tell personal stories about multiple friends or family members they lost or are in ICU, including 40ish healthy people. some work in healthcare and are telling him what they're witnessing.

dude won't address those comments and he'll probably drop a new hoax post next week (we aren't fb friends just share a lot of mutuals), but it's only a matter of time until covid makes its way into the deniers lives one way or another. especially with all these protests. not to mention the fox news demographic dying at a disporportionate rate.

they can't sustain this.

i'll settle for a deplorables circular firing squad.

but I'm a little disappointed in the inablity to blame Hillary for this whole thing after 2 months. maybe they can find a 5G or bill gates connection for her or something?

weirdly enough just a few minutes ago, an old friend is on fb whining about the cdc forbiding church gatherings and forcing people to wear masks, and I'm trying to resist jumping in that dumpster fire and getting into a pointless argument with him and his people. I've been really good about not doing that but for some reason the urge is there today.

...with their take on COVID-19. No one is outright saying it's a hoax (or at least they haven't since the beginning), but one guy in particular is leaning really hard into the "It's not as serious as the media is making it out to be!" and "Most of these people have other diseases when they die!" and "Fauci has been wrong all the time!" and "There are other things we need to be worried about!" He's generally a good dude aside from this, but all this shit is really starting to wear on me.

especially in a place like cali where we've done a relatively decent job of working towards flattening, there's a disconnect between that things aren't as bad here therefore we didn't need all these restrictions, and things aren't as bad here *because* of the restrictions.

there seems to be a default mode where our desire for things to be "normal" can cloud actual facts, because i keep seeing otherwise reasonable people need the previous point made to them repeatedly and its always "Well, yeah that's true but still..". Or make stupid points about other things that kill lots of people (that aren't fucking contagious), and for the most part they know better

that said, i know a couple people who hate Trump, but would probably be supporters in a different environment.

Quick rundown:

He ignored reports dating back to November.

Disbanding the pandemic response team hurt.

Didnt employ the Defense Production Act until it was too late.

Told everyone to drink bleach and inject lysol.

Propped up hydroxychloroquine that demonstrated harsh health effects.

He encouraged states to go bankrupt.

Je let his son-in-law run the national pandemic response.

He legit thinks he's done a great job as the death toll reaches 100K.

This isn't half of the stuff he's done.

No empathy for white misery (c) BDot
