"There are going to be some strong presidential candidates for 2024"
Mon Apr-06-20 07:25 PM by allStah

That’s the only positive thing about this pandemic.

Andrew Cuomo
J.B. Pritzker, etc

These democratic govs who are not getting any support from their president.... They are showcasing that they have the ability to effectively be a chief and commander of a nation.

We will not have to concern ourselves with going with the lesser evil, or just voting for a person because they are simply better than trump. It’s going be like a stacked nba draft.

We get back to voting for governors the way it should be in my opinion... that should be a rule.

..While its understandable that the general public can be easily swayed during desperate times, this post is the epitome of buying into the hype.

Anyone trumpeting Andrew Cuomo as a solid leader clearly hasn't vetted him or his policy, let alone his tenure as a politician.

And Priztker is a known racist.

FOH with this post.

Don't believe the hype. © P.E.

Naw. I disagree. I see leadership, structure and a solid political presence.

And it doesn’t have to be those two. There are other governors who are showing their strength as well.

No candidate will be perfect, and some will grow and evolve. I think we are seeing just that. We are seeing governors leading while people’s lives are on the line, and their states constantly being under pressure. That ain’t no BS or pulling the wool over someone’s Eyes

There is a reason why most presidents graduated from the governor position. State government has the same structure as federal, so there is a lot of experience with that.

Just state your argument and quit the silly stuff. You’re no different than trump in your rebuttals.

I’m not sure what state you live in. I live in Illinois, and I like the way the mayor and governor are working as a collective or unit. The communication and action have been spot on. From the immediate closing of all schools in the state, to the strict lock down across the state and immediate response to people trying to gather in parks and beaches. Black kids are still being fed through the lunch program while everything is shut down. And a plan is being set to release Non violent prisoners from state and city correctional facilities. My state was one of the first states to be proactive. If that is falling for the banana in the tailpipe ,then I will take it.

No candidate is perfect ..not even Bernie ( semi-racist remarks comparing poor white people of Vermont to black South Africans during apartheid, ...and other questionable comments regarding black folks that he made back in the 20th century).

Same with Biden etc. My take is there is no such thing of a white politician who isn’t a little bit racist, or has not made some racist comments or has not done an act of prejudice. I have yet to see one.

But overall I like what I’m hearing and seeing from
some Of these governors. We have never seen anything like this in our lifetime. We were not alive during 1919, or during world war 2. The entire world has been suspended, and I feel pretty confident about our governor and mayor during this situation. Very Fucking confident.

At least I know they are competent and there will be clear communication to the people.

Its not my job to do the research for you. I'm not here to debate politics, but your criterium for "strong candidates" is dangerously lacking.

My point is that you're already calling Cuomo a strong leader without properly vetting anything about him other than his current stance on this health crisis.

Cuomo is one of the main reasons NY doesn't have the proper resources right now, but he would rather blame Trump (since that's the easy target). We all know Trump's an idiot (he proves that anytime he speaks).

Google isn't your friend, but its a solid start.

Appearing to be a good leader in crisis should be a minimum requirement for any person in a commander's role. That doesn't mean you forgive past sins; performance when times are good is just as if not more important to me than when times are bad.

My mayor has been exemplary during this whole situation. If she weren't on her last term, I still wouldn't vote for her because she's got 7 years of bullshit behind her. Cuomo has been awesome...but he's still Cuomo and all that baggage he comes with.

This makes no sense, maybe it took something like this for him to evolve. Malcolm X was a crook, pimp, and all other types of stuff, him and redd foxx used to rob people. However, he evolved and turned into one of the greatest activists to ever walk the earth.

Sometimes a man's past is simply just that....His past.

We have seen bad politicians turn good and good politicians turn bad. So I'm willing to give this man a shot with no hesitation, and he has already proven to be a leader of substance during the pandemic....I'll take that over biden, bernie, and the rest of the weak candidates for this election.

*point to the doll to demonstrate where this "alleged jab" hit/hurt you? LOL

I never took a shot at you, I just pointed out the massive hole in your ill-conceived rhetoric.

Cuomo cut $400 million in health care as this current crisis approached.

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/30/nyregion/coronavirus-hospitals-medicaid-budget.html

The same Cuomo that blew millions on "beautification projects," while continuing the mismanagement of the MTA, bridges, & tunnels. So instead of actually repairing/replacing necessary infrastructure, he threw up a few new light bulbs.

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/07/29/nyregion/newyorktoday/nyc-news-mta-cuomo.html

And just in case you thought he cared about the children (since he originally mandated limited gatherings of no more than 50-100 people, but left public schools open in the middle of a health pandemic). This is what he was doing BEFORE he was finally FORCED to close the schools:

He is definitely going to have to answer for those 60000 tests that sat in backlog. He did own up to it, though.

Now that those tests have been processed ,California’s numbers are surging in Covid 19 cases. He will also have to face the heat for California not testing enough, especially compared to other densely populated states.

I don’t know too much about him. I just know about the governors in the Midwest ( Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan) and New York.

No, she's only 30Y.O., she won't be old enough to run for POTUS in 2024

The attempt to cause dissention and target AOC in order to splinter the progressive movement...is the strangest, forced narrative I've seen this cycle

She's been there every step of the way

Speaking for myself, I never turned on her

In fact, I have more respect for her speaking her mind and not just blindly falling in line with groupthink

But..you know...the Bernie bashers will keep scouring the twitterverse for confirmation bias that there is some YUGE rift by citing the worst and most vile examples they can in attempt to equate every Bernie supporter with the most offensive, immoral twits they can find in order to throw us in the same bag

I'm not that.

You want to include his base in the general election

But here you are...trying to manufacture some controversy in an attempt to splinter his base...how's that a winning strategy?

Aren't both Bernie and AOC...working within the democratic party to move it forward?

to find a president who voluntarily decided to leave office after just 4 years. That'd be a pretty significant declaration to just come out and say you're only running to be a placeholder for somebody else in 2024.

But with Biden - it seems also compulsory given his cognitive decline.

Right?

I mean, Biden is awful. We agree.

So how fucking awful do you have to be to lose to him??

Especially when you have the name recognition, footprint, and doners.

Especially when you were going to inspire a wave of new voters.

Especially when you had one of the most diverse coalitions mankind has ever dreamed of.

When you have a movement.

You have all of that...and STILL get your ass kicked by a dude who didn't even campaign.

Let me guess...something something establishment...

Nah those were voters. Voters lined up to vote Joe over your guy.

Yeah. YIKES.

to Biden under these circumstances whereby the entire party apparatus rallies together to stop an insurgent.

Saying that Sanders is "trash" because he lost to Biden is as inaccurate as saying that Biden is a tremendous candidate because he's the default beneficiary of party favoritism.

read up on Cuomo

https://www.theroot.com/andrew-cuomo-is-trash-1842641091

partial swipe....

Everyone wants a hero in a time of crisis. But while Cuomo has certainly been willing to play the part (convincingly enough that a few folks even want him to run for president), what he’s done away from the cameras is telling: using $2/hour prison labor to rebottle hand sanitizer, refusing to release elderly and sick incarcerated persons from Riker’s Island, and slashing Medicaid rather than raising taxes on the 0.01 wealthiest New Yorkers. These aren’t the sorts of measures that would save lives in this crucial moment, and they certainly won’t prevent future crises from happening.

Y'all buy those labels, I was born supreme

and Biden damn sure doesn’t have a good track record when it comes to policy.

It’s basically using your best moments and then shutting up and letting the people do the work for you.

If Coumo was up next in 2024 so could see the country voting for him in waves JUST off his TV interviews during this crisis.

When we get better, it will be because regular working people came together to support each other. Not because billionaires and political legacies did it for us.

Absolutely fuck both of these guys.
