If someone drags your kids, on any level, into a beef you have, of any kind, be it text, facebook, wax, etc, I assume your reaction would be hey, we're beefin so anything goes?
No.
That's an unwritten no fly zone that we're all aware of, on any level, on any issue.
It's certain situations like the current battle scene where cats like Arsonal are cool with going at absolutely everyone, and that's up to the battlers if they want to accept that shit. It's pretty well established that it's a no holds barred scenario.
But even then, even with some of the reprehensible things cats have said because #bars, that's still nowhere near the level of what happened here, in this situation.
The greatest example of something being dumbed down here is the lack critical thought, the idea that a rap battle, particularly in the puic eye and on wax has no rules and cannot or should not advance, but must instead be solely based on whatever (lack of) rule book that's always existed.
Y'all are clowning about think pieces as though we shouldn't look at hip hop culture with a critical eye that reflects our growth as a collective people, society and personally.
You're literally championing a dumbed-down train of thought in here. The dumbing down isn't coming from people casting a critical eye, it's from those, such as yourself, who are blatantly choosing to take the simplest view, that requires the least amount of examination or reflection possible.
It's all good to hold your view, but you can't talk about "dumbing down" on this subject while not adding an ounce of thoughtful perspective on it.
