Delivery drivers are wearing gloves and we have kept our distance. I'm tipping better than normal too.
I'm doing it primarily because I would hate to see any of these local food joints go out of business over this, so I'm trying to do my part. Also in large part cuz I just love takeout haha.

Definitely thought about if it’s a bad idea.
Almost bought a frozen pizza but chilled and will order one instead to support local biz... plus it taste better than frozen.. lol.

My entire life revolved around working in a restaurant, taking home leftovers of family meal or food about to go bad a line cook would prep up and I'd just need to re-heat. When those weren't an option, usually my days off, I'd order from a pizza/wings, Chinese or Indian spot and grab 5 or 6 items that equal out the price of a typical night out drinking and stretch it all across the week.
And now with all this? On my days off, as someone in this industry fortunate enough to keep working, damn right I'm ordering out. Strictly local though now, the chains will survive.

I feel like a disproportionate amount of deliveries are probably to homes/customers that are in mandatory self-isolation i.e. corona reservoirs.
I know delivery people don't interact all that much with us but for a lot of places even if you ordered + paid online a customer still has to sign their receipt or whatever, half the time with the pen(s) the delivery person is carrying. Lol gross. Tbh I feel like delivery people are as exposed as frontline medical staff right now. I'd only use them if I was sick, needed an emergency delivery, and had zero alternatives personally.
Another thing tho, is I never really get bored of cooking *shrug* I prefer to have more control over the nutrition, make extra for leftovers, etc. Plus I like meal planning.
