she did her best with what she had to work with. you can tell it hurts when people bring up that young voters arent coming out for bernie. that deads the entire movement/revolution narrative.

kinda funny how she mentioned bernie doing well with latinos could deliver states like arizona and nevada (but left out texas which bernie lost).

assuming he would have pulled majority of those votes had the progressive wing did what the moderate wing did...

he likely would have won TX, Mass and like 3 others states

Folks are having fun with the youth for not voting

But a common report from super tuesday was waiting times of 2-3hours

As I've said before, you would think a party that has lost the POTUS election, despite winning the popular vote...twice in my lifetime

Would actually be addressing the issue of voting in this country

But older voters showed up and showed out, standing in line for 6-7 hours.

How specifically were young voters suppressed? Did they set up Pokemon Go speed traps near these polling places?

in tx.

same applies to colorado.

and a few other states had all of the moderates on the ballot still receiving voters that likely would have largely gone to biden.

plus 'the data shows' ((c) vex) warren voters about evenly split between bernie and biden as their 2nd choice. so there wouldnt be some big boost there for bernie.

meanwhile bloombergs campaign manager said on msnbc that their data showed over 90% of their voters would choose biden.

if you really wanna get technical...biden dominated the late breaking vote in tx too (especially on election day). it would have been even worse for bernie if he hadnt split all those early voters in the 2 weeks leading up to the election.

he gets asked a specific question about his struggles with black voters...and goes into a bunch of logical dissembling/deflection about how well he did in california with 'people of color' (lost black voters but latinos and asians).

(the fact that he even thought to lump black people in with 'people of color' as 1 demographic is pretty telling)

then of course he goes into *polls* that show him winning black voters nationally lol (after black voters handed him his ass nationally).

and then he pins it on bidens association with the popularity of obama among black dems (like obama wasnt popular with latinos, asians, etc as well).

its pretty clear now that this isnt simply a feature of the constituency. its a feature of the candidate as well.

for the last 4 years black people told bernie surrogates/supporters that black people werent fucking with them. and instead of genuine outreach they got a bunch of polls and twitter memes about why they were wrong.

You were shitting all over Joe prior to SC(rightfully so) and when I suggested Biden would be the nominee a year ago you were quick to shit on that idea.

I don’t think anyone is dismissing the voters... just pointing out that Joe didn’t do much besides wait on SC. At most he was able to rally the troops and get a ton of endorsements.

than the actual candidate who got the votes.

dude is in a media echo chamber where rising poll numbers for bloomberg equals real world performance (like bernie leading nationally with black voters lol). even tho bloomberg hadnt been on a single ballot yet and had a negative approval rating among dem voters.

apparently warren did a better job of getting votes for biden than she did of getting votes for herself?

thats delusional.

bernie up to that point benefited from a split moderate field.

then the majority of voters gravitated towards the single best moderate candidate in the race (who finished 2nd and a landslide 1st in 2 of 4 early states before any consolidation). that candidate was biden.

a year ago people were calling me a biden shill and saying i was paid by the dnc simply because i was saying biden had the best shot at winning because he could tap into the obama coalition.

its well documented. ask stahdiq, brew, strav, etc.

So the biggest L to hand out here on this topic is mine lol lol

my bad

I agree with Legs, though. I don't think Biden specifically gets credit for this, because he did so little.

Which is why, if I'm not mistaken, all three of us are very nervous to see how he does in the general.

I don't take Van Jones seriously, dude tries to galaxy brain every single thing.

But. I think a lot of factors helped Biden get here. Warren gets at least a little credit for helping kill Bloomberg.

The movement not being what they thought they were.

The other candidates dropping out.

And, most importantly, black folks turning out for Joe.

I don't think we can give Joe Biden himself a ton of credit, beyond him okaying his team's strategy of going all in on SC.

But as far as confidence in his chances to win the nom? You two and Strav have been the most confident that I can recall.

and it was really my only hope for Bernie's ability to beat Trump.

Bernie has a clear message and his supporters legit believe in him, Same goes for Trump. Biden is pretty much not-bernie/not-trump. No one is excited over Joe Biden.

But as it's already been mentioned the Bernie movement has hit a ceiling, seemingly twice now. Trump successfully took his whole party over. . I don't see how Bernie's somehow the only hope to beat Trump when he can't even beat Biden.

you literally laughed at other people when their favorite candidates underperformed, dropped out, etc.

but its funny how people get sick when you give them some of their own medicine.

bernie gets curbstomped in front of the whole nation and now he has to pander to the party faithful (that he denigrated for half a decade) by parading out the black president who he constantly trashed and wanted to humiliate with a primary?

oh yeah we gon break out the nachos and coronas on tio bernie.

oddly enough...the ‘neverberniebros’ you claim exist on here all say they would vote for bernie if he is the nominee. cuz theyre adults.

the bernie borg are the only ones threatening to sit out the general (or even vote for trump) because their cult leader got the rug pulled out from under him by some church aunties and soccer moms.

none of us love biden. all of us have favorite candidates that biden beat as well. but we all left our bottle and binky phase decades ago so we got over it.

yall should be embarrassed to be proudly conducting yourselves like a bunch of spoiled babies and guilt shaming others who dont break their own backs to pat yours.

if yall choose to let trump win then thats *your* fault. it aint everybody elses responsibility to breast feed some damn grown ass men.

"curbstomped"? That's what you call a modest delegate lead?

The fact is this: Sanders has been the front-runner and is now in a far better position than he was in 2016 at this juncture in the primary. The delegate gap is slim -- and it took an entire consolidation of traditional wing of the party - multiple popular candidates - and a perfect electoral storm for Biden to barely eek ahead of Sanders.

Y'all said he was dead in the water after the heart attack - and claimed Clinton was more electable.

You have zero standing to gloat about anything.

but the people who dont vote are absolved of blame.

what kinda kellyanne conway logic is that?

anyone who doesnt rise to the occasion and cast a vote for the 1 candidate who has a chance of beating trump (whoever the dem nominee is)...they were the reason trump won a 1st term. and they will be the reason trump won a 2nd.

theyve had 4 years of watching trump and republicans bring a wrecking ball to the entire fabric of our society/democracy. if they dont utilize the 1 simple tool they have at their disposal to end it...then theyre giving it their tacit approval to continue for another 4 years.

The chances that a 79-year-old American man who had a heart attack last fall will die by this fall is one in four, and 50-50 by the fall of 2024.

So among other things, if Sanders is nominated, isn’t he sort of obliged to pick Warren as his running mate?

Sanders as a candidate has shown inflexibility on a number of things - and he's always been fairly stubborn in terms of his message. But that's also why he's endearing to a lot of people: He means what he says and won't spin a line of bullshit just to appease voters. But that's a double-edged sword and doesn't always work out in your favor - especially with voters who feel like they don't know you.

Either way you slice it - he's underperformed with older Black voters thus far - and it's not because some bullshit like they are "low information" voters who just want to vote for anybody they are told to vote for. There are legitimate trust issues at play - and while the Sanders campaign has tried to make in-roads - they haven't been as successful as they needed to be.

But if people are looking for a candidate to put on a fake southern accent, pander to the Black church, or lie about getting arrested while seeing Mandela to try and get clout - they got the wrong one. After all - Sanders doesn't have to be lie about being arrested protesting civil/human/universal rights - he actually was arrested doing just that.

But the idea that Biden has done any real work or outreach with the Black community is laughable. He's lazily benefiting off the Obama brand. In fact, if it wasn't for Obama, Biden would be regarded for what he really is: a below average politician who has caved to special interests and republicans his entire career.

Also - If I were advising Sanders - I'd tell him to chill with trying to explain Democratic Socialism at every turn. Everybody who needs to understand that nuance does at this point. Pivot to a fresh, new message about innovative conscious economic policy. This is a clear weakness for Sanders and why he needs the help of someone like Anand Giridharadas to upgrade his message.

Nina talkin bout candidates with shady dealings with blacks using Obama in ads. They don't have the record to justify the usage. There's one candidate who does.
And Kamala Harris got a "k-hive" on Twitter? Lol wth.
Funny that it was Harris who called out Biden on segregation. Once again it's a case of normie democrats not knowing what is best for them, which is what the Bernie ad conveys. Which is why he probably never wanted to use that type of ad til now. The ad should make anyone still voting for Biden feel like a huge dummy.
