"Poll question: "....got Me Too'd" "

I got this gripe thats been growing on the subject of the Me Too movement

its the way the language around the issue has shifted in a way thats makes the aggressors the victims.

What I mean is, IF and WHEN a story breaks about a celebrity and sexual misconduct the talks around the water cooler seem to now sound something like,

"Gosh, didjahear, Russel Crowe got me-too'd?"

"Oh wow, I was just reading about how if Hugh Hefner were in his prime today he would have gotten me-too'd"

or what about Kanye's use of it in 'Yikes'?

"Russell Simmons wanna pray for me too / I'ma pray for him 'cause he got #MeToo'd"

BRUH.

You don't get Me-Too'd. You're not the victim if whats happening is light being placed on the bad and fucked up things you've done behind closed doors.

When I hear "MeToo'd" I hear people saying "these people would have gotten along fine if those damn pesky victims would have just shut the fuck up about it all"

they may say it because everyone that cries victim isn’t always a victim.

because people use the phrase "MeToo'd" before any proving happens.

can we just go back 5 years and return to using "allegations"?

i know what you're saying but i think you're overthinking it.

if someone says J got busted for robbing houses, no one is mistaking J for the victim... unless there's some idea that he was falsely charged. same thing would apply to being metoo'd

while I agree with the idea that its being used as "caught" or "busted" "#Me Too" has a specific context that is tied to victims of sexual assault/harassment.

It's be like if people started saying "Oh yeah, officer Johnson was Black Lives Matter'd for being accused of shooting that kid last month...thank god there were no cameras"

i can only speak on what i've seen personally, but usually when i hear the mention that someone new got metoo'd, the immediate response is usually to ask what they did.

i get how it gets more murky if we're talking hypothetically about someone like Hef.

the only time i really hear it in the context of the accused being seen as the potential victim is with someone like Aziz.

speaks more to a social media hashtag being adopted or appropriated by pundits and whatever Kanye is

If #metoo is the actor and those that get called out by the hashtag or movement behind it are victims, I guess that's what it's meant for?

pretty public position but he was listed among a bunch of other people for a public company that employees complained had a sexist environment. His infraction was that he dated multiple subordinates. married one. Had a child with another. He stepped down. Some of the more prominent others who were accused did not.

Anyway, my wife complains is that she was in a company summit and it was super white and the most highest ranking black person from before wasn't there anymore because he got "me too'd"

I don't mind beating a dead horse, some times white feminism doesn't serve black interest.

the whole point of "me too" was for women to come forward and say "this happened to me too". for the offenders to basically use the phrase in the form of a trap is disrespectful. i've heard dudes say they don't even want to be around women because they don't want to get "metoo'd". like really dude? you're acting like women are sitting around plotting how to force you to harass them? that's so twisted and backwards. shows how much of a problem it is in the first place.
