luckily I have a big yard. I woudnt get a dog if I didnt have one. Plus we have a few parks too...thats cool, adopting older dogs.
She looks and behaves most like a lab. About 65lbs. Lean. and amazing to run, play and hike with. GREAT DOG!
I live in the Philly, but luckily I am nearby woods (fairmont park) which helps as my backyard is about 200 sqft. 3 walks a day on average gets her by.

Both are small dogs that don't need a lot of space. The Boston still has a lot of energy (even at 9) but I don't need to walk either for particularly long distances.
I can imagine a lab is challenge. Especially a pup.

10. "initially we thought we got a bad batch of food." In response to Reply # 9
he just started being unable to keep any food in. It would come out both ends all wrong. basically got severe gastro intestinal issues.
came out of the blue. he was a healthy dog. seems like age him earlier than expected. he was 10, but so energetic. people still thought he was a puppy.
tried meds. changing the food. we even tried that high price, prescription food. nothing helped. so help just lost all his weight and was miserable.
She's 4, but still seems to have puppy level energy. We find ourselves like parents of a toddler...trying to wear her out, so she'll sleep through the night.
I highly recommend rescuing a dog from a reputable place versus private seller or pet store.
My three dogs:
Boxer/lab mix - he's the old man of the group, 9 years old. Rescued him from a no kill animal shelter where I was volunteering time. I've had him since he was 6 months.
Boxer/mastiff mix - she looks like a black boxer. Rescued her from Happy Go Lucky Mastiffs when she was 3 months (now 2 years old). Added her to the family when my 4 year old Pitbull died of kidney failure. My Pit and Boxer/lab were bonded so I needed to add a new dog to avoid the other from going into depression.
Bloodhound mix - not sure what she's mixed with, she's the baby of the group (7 months old and 80 lbs). Rescued her from All 4 Paws. When you rescue young dogs, I highly recommend obedience classes.
I love dogs but you need to find one that fits your lifestyle and has the temperament you want. I recommend rescues for several reasons but the main reason is they they will do their best to pair you with the right dog.
Labs: I rescued a yellow lab and she was a sweet dog. She lived to be 14 before dying of cancer. Downside to labs is they shed, A LOT! It's why I personally will never own another one. Yes, my oldest dog is mixed with lab but he has more of a boxer coat so shedding is minimal.
