i dont know if thats the accurate term but they throw a lot of shit up against the wall to make sense of things and somewhat rationalize the behavior of a serial killer.

family trauma, closet homosexuality, pain medication, wrong crowd/influence, cte, etc. even heavy marijuana usage maybe?

most of these killer docs tend to be explanatory psych dives. a lot of this felt like a search for empathy tho.

But if you were in discussion with him about ... well, really anything at all, it was like talking to a MAGA asshole. No reasonable adult discourse to be had. Either agree with him or get fucking FURY followed by "k." a million times over.

Like I said, semi-amusing to witness but INFURIATING to be a part of.

He wasn't boring. I'll give him that, and definitely a smart dude, but at some point he went from being salty whenever challenged to full on nuclear tantrum mode. And sometimes over nothing. Like.. the fuck you mean "good morning" fuck you and your whole family lol

I'm always amazed at how much shit I didn't pay attention to, or didn't know, even though I lived through it

I've only watched the first ep (spoiler alert)

But the compromised sisters relationship was something I didn't know the depth of
I remember ol' girl being implicated in hiding the weapon
But to be consoling your sister, while you're an accomplice in covering up her boyfriend's murder
Yeah, that point really hit me

I also don't remember the closeted homosexual angle in real time

I'll definitely finish the series

My biggest takeaway...how in the fuck has the NFL not come down on the Cheatriots more harshly

Along with the cheating, they harbored an OJ psycho on their active roster

I mean, dude was killing people, and then going to practice

WTF.

Really having a hard time resolving the Cheatriots role in this young man's life

...and to the point of fetishizing murders...

There's a reason dude turned bad

I mean, if he was just a psycho from jump, I don't think he gets as far as he did in life

The storied about his character early in life appears to be a stark contrast to the man he became

There's a why, and we should all be interested in that.

If you can't understand it without an explanation

you can't understand it with an explanation

and i actually know a TON about this case because I listed to the Gladiator podcast which is, more or less, the audio version of this doc. However, I don't remember them touching on that aspect though they may have.

Talk about a family ripped apart. I'm guessing the sisters don't mess with each other at this point because Hernandez' fiance was ride or die for him over everything.

I don't think you can blame the Pats for harboring him. I mean, he definitely had some red flags, but there's no way they knew he was killing people. He was found innocent of the two murders in Boston, though I'm not sure how or why the jury came to that verdict. I mean, they found the car from the murders in his cousins garage and it hadn't been driven since the murders. Anyways...

As far as understanding how this could happen? Not getting love from your parents, and having to, perhaps, hide your real self (if he was, in fact, gay) can seed a lot of hatred. Add the ego that comes with money and fame, along with the paranoia that comes with that too? I can see it. I think he just got so mad and weird at the world he had no fucks to give. Along with all of that, he was very young during this whole thing and young people do DUMB stuff.

As far as the sisters. Yeah, that has to be wild but I’ve seen planet of people choose a no good SO over their family.

Not sure how the Cheats can be blamed for this. However, as a Steeler fan it always cracks me up when they say Tomlin can’t control his players and them use Billicheat as a great example of discipline. Dude had a murderer on his squad and offered him a $40 mill contract AFTER he killed someone.

NFL players are some goons. Not all of them but they definitely have some goons just like any other sport. The only thing shocking to me is dude was making great money... why are you so angry? Obviously dude was sick.

SpyGate
DeflateGate
SpyGate 2.0
Aaron's murders
Kraft's solicitation

It kills me to hear them referred to in reverance

Like none of this happened, or factors into how their franchise should be perceived

also, they did go out and bring in players like Josh Gordon and Antonio Brown

it's just weird how, win at all costs, is the NFL mantra

but use technology to steal signs in MLB, and we see the fallout

Pats player gets busted with PED’s, serves 4 games and still wins SB MVP in the same year.

Baseball player does roids and people want him kicked out of the game with an asterisk next to all of his stats.

I’m assuming you didn’t watch, and I just finished the series

<spoiler alert>

Forgot dude was a red flag coming out of college

Meyer is presented as telling Aaron not to come back for his senior year

Not in a constructive, you should enter the draft because you’re stock is high now, etc...

It was presented as, you’re not welcome her anymore.

Subsequent to bar fights, shootings and failed drug tests in Gainesville

HOF talent, still on the board in the 4th round

Yeah, they knew he had severe issues. Every team did.

Of course they couldn’t predict he’d be a murderer

But they chose to ignore all the information pointing to a serious problem

I’m still foggy on the timeline

They repeatedly state he played a full season after the Odin murder

They have him going directly to Kraft, pleading his case

and requesting a trade immediately after signing the $40M contract, because he feared retaliation from Bradley

Yeah, they knew.

dude who Aaron allegedly shot in the face?

Kept wondering how much of what he was saying was true. like, I don't know what went down in Boston or who did what, but given who he was, and that they have earlier video of him shooting up a bar after getting shot, it's harder to square with how he was painting himself in court as always being the voice of reason or the guy always trying to talk AR down from confrontation.

Also the "i dunno, i just woke up and he shot me and dumped me out the car.. he's crazy!" doesn't fly

if it's true though i did like the story of the guy you just shot in the face calling the next morning like 'sup, bro? oh you know who this is. lol

my guess is some shit went down with someone else and maybe AR fucked up leading to him getting shot, or ran away too soon. something to the effect.

other than what the asshole radio lady said about Odin finding out AH was gay.

I thought about that as a possibility since we have no motive but it doesn't really square with having those other 2 dudes help him. AH didn't seem smart enough to come up with some other cover story that he could use to convince those guys to help him murder someone.

...killed the two Cape Verdeans. But it really may just be because he was paranoid and crazy. He thought Bradley was after him, either to kill him or for money, depending on the story. Maybe his brain was just severely fucked from CTE. If you believe that he killed the two Cape Verdeans because they spilled a drink on him (which I do) then it’s easy believe that he could have killed Lloyd over something smaller or just an imagined slight.

40. "I have two theories regarding the Cape Verdeans"
In response to Reply # 39

So I generally hate headlines like "man shoots neighbor over stepping on shoes" because if you look at most of those stories, what usually happens is something minor or inconsequential happens and an argument ensues and because no one backs down it escalates. So I feel like the real headlines of those stories should be "Two people with bad tempers cross paths".

Anyway, maybe that's what happened with the two Cape Verdeans and AH crossed paths and something minor escalated into a fight.

That's the simplest story and the problem I have with that is, from the doc, when didn't see anything to suggest that these were dudes who fought or stayed in trouble or would even fight. So I am not sure about that theory.

My other theory is that one of the Cape Verdeans made a pass at AH or AH made a pass at one of them and was rebuffed. That's the type of interaction where you could see AH being on some, he had to kill those guys. IDK.

And snuck up on u, even to the fathers death, his HS QB saying they had a relationship, the mother getting with the cousin’s husband, and even though I didn’t remember that he got off for the double murder, all becuz that homie of his that was their star witness was so sketch.

He was just a really odd and fucked up guy and a lot of lives were destroyed/ruined by that.

It’s way more to all three of the murders and I am little bothered that the doc really didn’t seal up the why and what with those but I still found it very interesting.

The brother and the mother kinda weren’t shit.

I have to think she got a decent malpractice settlement when her husband died on the operating table for hernia surgery. Plus any life insurance payout when her husband died but maybe he/they didn’t have life insurance.

You mix together CTE, with NFL and NCAA looking the other direction from bad behavior, and toxic masculinity and throw in a garden variety sociopath...you kind of wonder why that perfect storm doesn't happen more often.

It isn’t anyone thing that made him do this, it was a collection of CTE, bad behavior being overlooked, dad dying early, perhaps issues with his sexuality, bad temper, being young and dumb, and you mix that all together and this is what happens.

I went to a D1 SEC school first year of college and the football players were definitely wired different.

The violence and entitlement is real... but there have been millions of football players in college who haven’t killed.

Hernandez was a killer. Plain and simple.

Even being a sociopath alone isn't enough to explain all this because I think there are all sorts of sociopaths among us (I know I work with a few) that dont kill anyone because they have the fear of going to jail and they have reason and analytical skills not damaged by CTE that would tell them if you text dude let's meet and he ends up dead near your house, you will be a prime suspect.
