Sounds like some BS. What field are you in?

I'm in IT, and I can't imagine asking one of our contractors to take a drug test.

i guess they switched their system in november and things have been all messed up since. i didnt know until i had ordered 3 ft high lol

based on what they have been shipping its very possible i might actually end up with one or more copies of 3 ft high tonight lol. maybe even just the inserts. 25 copies of the infamous for some reason. who knows lol

i havent had any issues ordering online anywhere else, fatbeats, urbanlegends, amazon, discogs, reddit. yeah just stay clear from VMP until they get it together.

Only issue I had was it taking forever to get my December jawn.

But I keep it simple over there. I'm on the one month sub and I never do add ons or order anything extra. I hate it for everybody thats been having issues. That site migration ruined the whole VMP experience.

I got mine back when I first signed up (for the De La in like March) and thankfully I'm grandfathered in. Thats the only thing keeping me from cancelling.

I used to be able to skip a month, and I have before, but now? They'll prolly cancel it if I skip a month now. Unless something extremely dope comes out next month, I'll switch out for Common, then if nothing good comes out the next month imma go ahead and cancel. I see way too much good stuff on Urban Legends and Get On Down that I can make those my monthly "subscriptions", lol.

I would love to know why it takes two seconds for you to receive a marketing email once you've signed up, but takes FOREVER to be taken off the distribution list. I've received months worth of emails after clicking 'unsubscribe' for several companies and it is truly annoying.

By the end of January, I'm either going to take control of the inbox or just dump that address all together and create a new one.

knowing it meant next week is the last week for a minute.

the cowboys coaching change is at least interesting. lots of revamping happening. then we get free agency and the draft so there will be some football related stuff to keep me entertained.

i might start paying more attention to the bulls, if i had access to watch their games it would make it easier.

overall i gotta find better use for my sundays lol

Have to take my car into the shop over the weekend. Praying the quote is the quote.

Can’t really do shit cause the funds is low until next payday. I’ve dipped into my cushion. Haven’t felt this type of crunch in a minute. Do not like this feeling.

These kids been interrupting my sleep. They keep waking up at 3AM to jump in our bed. Trying to curb that shit but I end up UP when I take them back to their room to sleep.

Well
This is what it looks like right before you fall
Stumblin' around, you been guessing your direction
Next step, you can't see at all
And I don't have a name, I don't have name, no
Who am I to blame? Who am I to blame though?
And I cannot be changed, I cannot be changed, no
Trust me I've tried
I just end up right at the start of the line
Drawing circles
Mm
Well, I drink my whiskey, and you sip your wine
We're doing well, sitting, watching the world falling down, its decline
And I keep you safe, I can keep you safe, mm
Do not be afraid, do not be afraid
You're feeling sorry, I'm feeling fine
Don't you put any more stress on yourself, it's one day at a time
It's gettin' pretty late, gettin' pretty late
Yeah, and I find
It goes around like the hands that keep counting the time
Drawing circles

Got the kitchen halfway done (pre-spring cleaning). Gonna do the rest this weekend.

New desk, but still some of the same old shit. I can't *see* people walking back and forth anymore, but I can hear them. Amazing how many grown adults stomp or drag their feet across the floor. Coffee on my desk be like: https://i.pinimg.com/originals/f8/32/5f/f8325fa191d493e3fdaca02c4890d560.gif

Forgot the Super Bowl is this weekend. Might watch, but I'd rather play my guitar to be honest.

About to bullshit the rest of the day, meaning wandering off. Dude behind me keeps sighing. Taking some restraint not to ask what the fuck is his problem.

The shop I’m using specializes in German cars and is cheaper than the dealership with 2 year warranties on their work.

When this car works it’s a joy to drive. I’m not ready to let her go yet.

Gotta change my bike's oil, but I can't find filters locally. Gonna be ~15f tonight so I'll wait until Sunday. Already getting hand-hurty cold outside. Gonna ride home and park up.

Got the house to myself, but have been too busy/tired to do anything. Gonna chill hard tonight.

got this week of vacation coming up after next week and I also got a deadline on some challenging work for the end of next next week... Wednesday really cause the folks down the line gotta do their bit by Friday.

the work is close to done but there are a couple troubling aspects and behaviors going on that require testing and explanation but testing is mad tricky because the environments are only available Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and the tests are not quick n dirty they involve timing and setup so again withing the windows of those days the windows of opportunity themselves are somewhat limited..

Like today managed to get through one test and determine some behavior that needs to be explained or rectified but I'm more or less dead in the water until Monday.

all of this has nothing to do with my weekend... except that it's gonna be there in my head the whole time prolly... fawk meh. what's up with you?

definitely sucks to not be able to enjoy time off due to projects at work.

i feel so off today. not exactly sure why. had a pretty busy morning at work. more issues with cancelled POs lol its off, nah its on, nope off again. okay now its on, hurry! thankfully im more just managing those items and dont have to do much work on them.

do have some others that are more hands on though. not too bad.

we got invitations to the bonus distributions next week. seems like theyre doing things a bit different this year. we get brunch lol. curious what this additional bonus will be. trying to not play it up in my head so im not disappointed.

i was thinking of going to see bernie tomorrow but i really dont want to spend 6 hours of my saturday doing that. plus i already voted for warren so eh. ill stay home and spin some records.

For some reason, on two separate occasions in the last week I purchased these seemingly superior pickles (https://www.foodservicedirect.com/media/catalog/product/cache/f4ff5e8081d8e52f84a2ea6986aee80a/2/0/20074329123362_1.jpg).

Knowing the salt level of pickles, I begin to see if there were possibly any lower sodium options. In my research I began to read about eating peanut butter and pickle sandwiches and evidently it was a lil internet thing a few years ago?

https://cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/12887-peanut-butter-and-pickle-sandwich

https://www.thrillist.com/eat/nation/peanut-butter-and-pickle-sandwich-recipe

https://www.bustle.com/p/a-viral-peanut-butter-pickle-sandwich-recipe-is-tearing-the-internet-apart-but-heres-what-it-actually-tastes-like-8724535

I can't tell you why, but this food combo just seems like it would be exquisite. The acidic vinegar, the peanut buttery sweet, the salty, a touch of bitter...everything begging to come together in a perfect bite.

I can't bear to give my sandwich these sorry ass pickles, so I need to find a better pickle option before I can go on my journey.

i would make a peanut butter (and sometimes jelly) sandwich. then after i was done with it a few minutes later id go eat some pickles. then maybe more peanut butter. i just ate them so often that to him i basically was eating them together lol

ive never had them at the same time.

from reading above it seems you havent either? if so, let me know how it goes once you get that firm pickle youre looking for.

When I was a kid, I used to love scrambled eggs, and I loved cheese as well but the idea of mixing the two made my stomach churn... until I tried it and got hooked. Suddenly, I couldn't imagine eating eggs without cheese, lol.

i get home and my brains like which bread did you get....NO i didnt get any! lol i havent gone back to get some bread. might do that tonight or tomorrow.

i did have a couple spoons of peanut butter though.

Needless to say, I sort of despise coming in here.

Fish are starting to bite though. I anticipate that I'll catch the big fish at some point in the next couple of weeks. There's one that I applied for on a whim. They actually reached out. Recruiter said that the hiring manager had already seen my resume and is very interested in talking.

Anyway, another week down.

Let's go get some dranks!

had my evaluation yesterday. only knock was on attendance. boss was telling me that should be excited to come to work and be here early and blah blah blah. i could tell he didnt want me to say that i just really wasnt feeling the job so i didnt say one way or the other lol

i got it good but im definitely not excited for this. i do need to see if there is a way i can actually get excited to work here or if i need to find something else.

I watched my daughter playing at daycare and got sad as shit. Not sure why.. I know she is having fun with her friends but I think it just reminded me of my youth and how I want to do everything I can to make sure they live their best life

My homey took the course and got his license and first bike late last summer and now he's hooked the same as us.

That feeling of freedom while riding is amazing.

Laughing until I get tears, singing, dancing on my bike, the fear, the excitement, etc.

Man, I'm about to leave work early and go for a ride now.

i kind of want to grill but i mostly dont want to go anywhere this weekend so i might not. i want to go grocery shopping at some point in the following week and get enough to not go for another two weeks.

i got a lot of records to go through and more coming in. definitely hoping to get through some.

it was showing it would get here saturday. i was thinking eh probably get here late, wont have time to cut it. oh well....now its showing it will be delivered today. no excuse to not finish up the yard this weekend lol

i was thinking of hitting up the store after work yesterday to hunt for some TP. naaaah couldnt be bothered. i might do that today or just wait until early tomorrow morning.

my goals for the weekend are
find tp
finish yard
do some cleaning in the house
spin records

might do a video call with the mom, usually just talk on the phone but with these times it might be an appreciated move.

I don't have a whacker, so I use a giant pair of utility scissor to clean up the edges.

I was hired like...the first week of March, so it wasn't a huge deal, ya know?

Just weird that all onboarding will be done remotely. I still work for my old company on an "as needed" basis, so I have their laptop in my bottom drawer, and the new jobs desktop they sent me in boxes ready to be connected on Monday, lol.

It was imperative to keep the old job on some capacity..thats where all my VMP and Discogs stuff gets mailed to, lol. It's right down the street from the new gig..and both are only about 15 minutes from home, so it's nothing to make a Kroger run and go pick up "my mail".

does the new job know about the old one?

i kinda feel my current job would want me to keep helping them if i left and it might make the most sense for them to be honest.

i REALLY REALLY need to get the back yard done. the front needs work too.

the flood of records has dried up. got 3 more coming at some point then nothing else on the horizon. i probably have like 15 i havent listened to so no big hurry for more. just takes away a little bit of excitement from receiving a new album.

Kinda happy af I picked this company over the other one that originally offered more money but a lot less perks.

lousy you had to take the cut in the first place but in this covid situation that's still a better shake than some get... but the fact your employer plans to make it up speaks well of their attitude towards you (and/or the value of your union).

I need to declutter my home before we can begin remodeling and it’s been exhausting. Mom and pops have 70 years worth of junk they don’t want to let go. I have to travel back to Charlotte to move from my apartment into another one. I’m going to stay a month or so just to get away from my parents, lol.

I’ve promoted my business here so I’m working that and a full time job.

im still split on if i prefer working from home or office. i feel comfortable getting work done in the office but it stresses me out more.

i think im plenty productive at home, probably dont actually lose a step. i just dont feel as comfortable doing it as far as what im used to.

last week when friday came it was cool but i wasnt waiting for it. this week being in the office definitely made me look forward to the weekend. doing work from home next week and im trying to avoid having to come in at all during the week. might be possible.

ive had the most work these past two weeks that ive ever had here. weird.

might be a night for some shoulder or makers tonight.

In the 80s. Word.

Putting the last layers of soil on a Hugelkultur raised bed I made. It's planting time, so gonna be out in the victory garden most of the weekend. Got a lot of starts in the greenhouse ready to go.

Might go on a long motorcycle ride too. Not sure where yet.

Really need to trash a lot of stuff in the house. It's clear what I will never use at this point.

Recorded a few new songs, now gotta film visuals for them.

Happy Friday, y'all.

Does it cool down at nights?

Sometimes (like every winter) I wish I lived someplace warmer, but I do appreciate to mild spring and falls we get here. There's a brief window when it warms up in the spring, and the summer mosquitoes haven't hatched yet so it's the only time I can chill in the yard without getting bit up or wearing repellent.

The Hugelkultur bed: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H%C3%BCgelkultur

The one I build looks like this: http://alaskaurbanhippie.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/IMG_5519.jpg

I gotta make raised beds for growing food anyway, since the in-ground soil is probably polluted from being in an old industrial city. Piled the branches in a bed I dug and covered them with some garden soil & manure.

What are you growing this year?

20 plus years coming to this site and good god the amount of ignorance that I've worked through.. I shudder to think of all the stupid crap I have said over the years.. I remember not knowing about Juneteenth I believe I even remember saying it wasn't a thing based on the name alone and my own asshole ignorance. I learned about it along with countless other things over the years being a part of this community.. I appreciate the patience I've been afforded, understand how some people would just write me off for that kind of stupid ignorant insensitivity. I appreciate the education I've been blessed to get by being here. I am humble enough to realize that dispelling ones ignorance is not a journey with an end but a life long task and obligation to oneself and others for any sincere, honest person worth their salt.

buffalo always had a huge festival. This my first year back home and the festival was moved to a virtual one. back in the day tho...

I used to be on a drill team and we march in the parade. One year we came in 3rd place. after drilling, my crew would walk through the festival like we owned it. Plus, it was in my hood.

I‘d chase down the break dancer crews for the battles and the boys that came from out of town lol

I love Juneteenth

i had no idea so many people were going out here. each time we have gone somewhere the place has more people in there than they did before covid.

Rebuilding part of my roof and the exterior walls below. Started off slow, but now that I see how the house is part together I want to do the whole roof and go over all of my walls.

I want a truck. My next four wheel vehicle will be a work truck or van.

About to head out onto the roof for a bit now and make some noise.

my weekends are, picking up groceries, mindlessly watching youtube, lately some zelda, sometimes playing records. oh yeah and saying "tomorrow im going to take care of the yard" which turns into next week and next week and... yeah lol

i need some shears to take care of these weeds that turned into a bush :/ actually i have some shears but i gotta look for them and i dont wanna deal with going through cobwebs to get at them lol

so im thinking maybe i should buy an electric hedge trimmer instead. maybe lose the cord on my weed trimmer and get a cordless leaf blower while im at it lol

saw this and might add it to my grocery order
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Westinghouse-Cordless-Leaf-Blower-Hedge-Trimmer-and-String-Trimmer-Edger-2-0-Ah-Battery-and-Rapid-Charger-Included/694300137

with charging that means i probably wont be able to get to the yard until sunday right? lol

I don't know... just is was it is.. I think I had a bit of an epiphany last night that took me from being in a very miserable and cynical place to one where I feel like I can see the opportunity in the heart of these difficulties and ultimately the inevitable progression to that light at the end of the tunnel.. to the mountain top as it were...

the entropy of these flawed and vile systems is only growing.. this disintegration is painful and scary and all kinds of bugs come out of the woodwork. but it's all just the gasping of just that bugs... catching the raid.

these times are wild.. they will make for interesting history.. but I don't think the future is going to be as bleak as I've oft feared.

climate change not withstanding... .. we're all gonna be on fire, underwater, suffocating and ravaged by new diseases but we're not gonna all kill each other as this crumbling colonialism is dismantled further and more viable systems grow.

just a thought...

I think I knew this but I mean most of it came to me when I was drunk last night and I appreciate the friend who had this conversation with me at the time... I was maybe a bit much... lol.. there was a lot there from both of us and it's validating to know that there are others who genuinely think and care about shit.. because it's not like we all aren't susceptible to being placated and comfortable enough to give into the fatigue this kind of struggle can generate.

anywho....what's your weekend look like?

this weekend I've no big plans yet again... honestly it's all I can do to fucking be awake right now... so done and uninspired.

if the weather is good I'll go for a motorcycle ride... that'll be a highlight for sure.

otherwise.. I don't know.. sports. eating.... if I can get any inspiration there's a ton of houseandhomework to do...

you guys got anything good? anything that might make me feel hyped? hope you all feel more into it than I do.

all my work at work is bursting into flames still.... cannot wait for the end of day even if I got nothing.

you name 20 big movies chances are very high ive only watched 5 of them.

did go ahead and watch it. i think i did right by getting into the series first. it wasnt a bad movie at all but im not sure i would have been interested in the series if i watched the movie first. watching the movie second made me appreciate the easter eggs they put in the show.

started season 4 also and its really good so far.

figure the Lakers are gonna take it tonight.. rooting for the heat to stick around but I don't see them winning 3 in a row by any stretch even if they get through tonight.

looking forward to the extra day off Monday... might even get some shit done this weekend for the first time in a few... at the moment I feel a little motivated.. wonder how long I can ride that energy? hmmm.

what's good with you all fam?

ham sounds good right now.

butler is a beast, he might be able to get them a win tonight but yeah dont see them making a full come back. maybe vs lebron 10 years ago, maybe even 5 years ago. if its not over today its going to be over in the next game.

working from home next week for me, boss let me know at a reasonable time today lol i also got confirmation that its back to alternating weeks.

we get hazard pay bonus for the days we work on-site. theyve been funny with the amount when i havent worked the full month. each time ive gotten less than makes sense. sent and email and he said he is having HR check on it. i pointed it out the first time and nothing was done. now that it happened again i figured i need to get it taken care of.

might get an oil change this weekend. not sure if im messing up with the schedule. i dont drive often so im almost due miles wise but like 3 months past due based on time.

Another home going ceremony for my MIL’s side of the family. It’s been a rough few years for her.

My kids are ready to go back to daycare. Hell, I want them to go back too. But this covid ain’t playing so we will chill.

I don’t think my wife ever wants to go back to school to teach in person and I don’t blame her. They trying to throw these educators to the wolves.

My old reliable Sandisk is dying and I need a replacement. I know nobody uses mp3 players but me (idc idc idc I love them), but I don't like to exercise with a cell phone on, it's just too uncomfortable. (purchased an armband for that purchase and immediately returned it as soon as I tried it on). I do some streaming I guess, but my tastes run the gambit and it's easier to listen to the music I've downloaded vs what the streaming platforms will supply.

I was set on just buying another Sandisk, but the reviews are pretty poor. Most of the other ones I've seen on Amazon are no-name companies, and I'm like...*shrug*. Saw on best buy a 16 gig Sony one, and I just cannot comprehend paying $200+ for a 16 gig anyfuckingthing smh.

I just need something that works with a long rechargeable battery and no bluetooth. (yup a luddite through and through) Prolly will just end up with the Sandisk despite the bad reviews.

football has been brutal for cowboys fans. im split between wanting to see dalton improve, get into some rhythm and just wanting it all to fall apart. if they lose these next two games and play how they have been i dont know how much i will care for the remainder of the year.

at least fantasy football is going mostly well for me.

got that bonus in. i need to go ahead and pay a couple of credit cards off before i start letting my mind come up with ways to waste it lol

but he'll throw INTs and drop the ball regardless... we had all the pieces pretty much.. keeping green and eiffort healthy would've helped but no sorry man Dalton is not what he could've/should've been imo... it's a shame there were a couple real good seasons we had there but eventually he always finds a way to get the other team the ball.

Don’t have anything planned this weekend. Prolly do some yard work, take the kids to the park and chill.

Just got a new toy the other day, Akai MPK mini3 so I’ll be playing with that once the kids go down.

My iMac is slow af. Need to take it in for more memory and some clean up.

210. "im trying to put the texas numbers into context"
In response to Reply # 207

i THINK so far its a really good indicator.

last count i see is that 6.4 million people have already voted in texas through 10/22. in 2016 8.97 million people voted in total. 4.5 million voted early.

of course theres no guarantee that dems have the advantage but it is likely. the other thing is since mail-in wasnt extended there isnt a lot to contest. i still worry the GOP will try to contest the extra week of voting but lets just hope not.

one number i have heard that i think really doesnt mean much is that 2 million more people registered in texas. well texas voting age population increased by 2.3 million too. i guess getting near 100% registration on those new potential voters is good though. it still leaves the percentage of registered voters basically the same 78.2% in 2016 vs 78.5% in 2020.

the big question is what will total turn-out look like. it was 58.4% in 2016. the same rate would mean 10 million people will vote in 2020.

so 6.4 million already voted would be 63.4% of the potential 10 million that would vote. compared to 50% that voted early in 2016. i THINK that indicates that turnout is increasing. we're not even done with early voting and turnout is 13.4 points higher than it was in 2016 for early voting. so if that rate holds, 50% early voting turnout were looking at over 12.5 million people voting in texas, at minimum.

of course it could be that turnout on voting day is ridiculous low too. important thing is to keep telling people to go out and vote.

301 in DE/MD was gorgeous. Wide-open road, little traffic. Hit a buck (100mph) a few times. On the way back on I95 too. Got smoked by a dude on a cruiser on the way home. Fun ride. Cruising across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge at sunset was quite beautiful. Neck and shoudlers are sore tho from the wind blowing against my helmet.

Hope I don't get toll fees tho. All of the lanes said "EZ Pass Only" and there weren't any attendents at some of them so I just rode through as fast as I could.

Gonna plan out some even longer overnight and multi-day rides soon. No time better than now.

TGIF

after having a seizure it takes my grand daughter a few days before she’s back to reality.
shoes on the wrong feet
trips and falls
and scared of being alone

not to mentioned she’s at that stage of being a sassy mouth. Which doesn’t go unchecked but, I have to keep in mind she’s not fully there yet.

/

I might go see a friend over the weekend...

be well, friends 😊

In response to Reply # 224

At will states probably don't care. You don't wanna work on site? Peace, no unemployment for ya. Hopefully some other states have some stronger worker protections.

I think that was a big part of why pelosi was holding out on the stimulus deal. Gop probably was stuck on making sure companies had immunity from lawsuits. Pelosi didn't want to let that happen.

Texas would be bonus points and I say still likely to go to Trump this year. If biden gets Florida tho election is probably a wrap on Tuesday. I do think Texas keeps getting closer and if it doesn't flip this year it will in 2024. Curious to see what changes in the gop if it does.

237. "trying to decide if it's worth buying bulk cheese slices"
In response to Reply # 235

My normal Sargento comes out to about $0.24 per slice, with 11 slices in the package. If I buy it from Sams, I can get their brand for about $.19 per slice, with 42 slices in a package.

The issue comes in when you consider that it's just me, and there's only so much sliced cheese you can eat before it goes bad. Can you freeze cheese? Would the flavor be affected by putting it in the freezer? Then you have to worry about the taste, the texture, overall presentation of the cheese.

I'm inclined to not do it, cause I think some of the slices would be wasted...but hey, 5 cents is 5 cents lol
