3. "whats the newest album that youve listened to?" In response to Reply # 1
i definitely had a few years where i was just focused on discovering old music. i would basically only listen to new albums by groups past their prime lol
2. "album that surprised me the most? Guapdad 4000's "Dior Deposits."" In response to Reply # 0
i wouldn't say i HATED, i just didn't expect much. i only knew of dude as a scammer. i had heard ONE song of his previously, that was basically about scamming. he just seemed like more of a joke/gimmick act based on his history.
but nah, he put out a great album. musically diverse, lighthearted/fun at times, serious at times. he can actually put bars together. good ear for beats. good guest spots.

10. "I listened to both the Billie Ellish and Lizzo" In response to Reply # 0
Really shoulda not done that.
Ellish has maybe one song on there, but I just dont believe her. Like...she's Hot Topic spooky girl.
Lizzo was mad forgettable. Didn't realize her song was the theme song for an ESPN show I listen to on the way home, so I was already through with that one (It aint my fault that im out here getting loose or whatever)
14. "Kanye. I didn’t listen to his last album either " In response to Reply # 0
Regardless of content - his songs are too often musically boring now, and he’s a guy that I just don’t care what he has to say anymore. College Dropout through Watch the Throne, I cared. He lost me with Yeezus, kinda get me back on like 1/3 of Pablo, and then lost me again. He’s just not funny or witty or insightful or entertaining anymore, his heartfelt songs don’t hit home anymore
18. "Same. I never listened for his lyrics. He sucks on the mic." In response to Reply # 14
But his *music* was always interesting.
That hasn't been the case since, like you said, before Yeezus. And I personally find Watch the Throne hella overrated. But that's just me it appears.

not even due to hype. there are things that are gonna be missing, but overall, I am very pleased with this year.
We got 1/2 of The 4 Horsemen (Toro Dogg, Thundercat, Kendrick, Tyler), the first time since 2013 that we've not had all 4. However, IGOR definitely is an AOTY candidate
a new fucking Gang Starr album with JERU on it
...no really, JERU on a Gang Starr album. in 2019.
Brittany Howard's album was flames.
A lot of pleasant surprises (like that Pete Rock/Skyzoo joint)
The rise of them brothers from Buffalo
Kaytranada sneaking one in before the year is over
the GOAT expanded edition of the GOAT Prince era album, atop another collection of Prince unreleased oddities
I discovered an album from 2018 that I played like it was new (Brandon Coleman's Resistance)

And even though I like her and am glad the album is doing well but.... yeah I can be honest that it is me “hating” to an extent because people got so overboard with the hype at the expense of everything else out, that it was annoying. I’ll listen eventually. But there were so many good-great rap albums in the second half of 2019 that it’s been hard to have time for much else.
