They had the opportunity to say “nah those second set of hands you thought were Manny’s were really the snake’s owner, Manny doesn’t exist, your son is just crazy”
But for the shock value and mystery of it all they just didn’t address they second set of hands when she mentioned it and didn’t challenge her on it, which would have made for a great moment where she denied it for the longest time but finally confronted with evidence her defense falls apart...

With the video of the murder, both the arm chair detective & the cop were disturbed while watching the murder of the man... but when he pulls out the puppy and kills it that is when they both burst into tears and look away. Its just interesting how lack of empathy for animals really is a marker for someone potentially being a sociopath.

the pet killings were more jarring than the human killing.
but maybe it was the way the videos were shown too.
the pet killings looked/sounded like they were gonna be more graphic. the human killing (at least the way they edited it) seemed less violent in a way.

Not that Jun Lin wasn't vulnerable, but I think, in general, the more vulnerable the target is overall, the greater our revulsion is in a situation like that

Perhaps, relieved to not have that be front and center. But a thoughtful piece on his life and the horrific end seems just as worthy as the cat angle.
I haven't watched yet, and from what I gather the murder of Lin is covered, but something about the cat killings being the subject of the title when he did what he did to a live human being doesn't sit right.

I've been up on the case for years due to the Sword and Scale episodes, so I'm in no rush to watch this, particularly given that they've buried the lead on the most horrific element of the story.
Another thing giving me pause is the general impression I have that this is basically a few people trying to get their fifteen minutes of backslapping fame, more than anything.

Soon as that Luka kid started talking in his audition I got American Psycho vibes.
It's not too self congratulatory, the two main people they interviewed talk about having guilt from possibly being the reason Luka ended up killing that guy because he was being hyped up by all the attention he was getting online. (I honestly think someone who would do that to cats would eventually start harming people, which he did)
People here seem to oddly be downing this series/the people who were searching for the guy But they DID put in a lot of work to help catch a murderer/stop him from potentially killing more people.

I never bought the Manny story but did they ever follow up on the extra set of hands? Dude was so creepy, fixing his hair in the middle of murders.

John Green answered it online and said he thought it was the snake owner who was a neighbor of Luka’s and who apparently didn’t know he was gonna feed it a kitten.
I guess maybe she was cool with him borrowing it but that’s so weird since it’s such an expensive pet I would be watching it like a hawk...or snake lol

Aside from all the stuff the killer did, it goes to show you how much you can find out about a person just by doing simple google searches and looking at the stuff people publicly post online. These people were not some expert hackers.
