3 inchs isn't enough differ to notice for me.

depending on the size, 3-4 hunnid. my friend just about a 50 inch for like 270.

>

not a lot actually. just be clear. 4k isn't important for my house.

pretty much. most tvs will have the same type of features. so a lot of it is which brand do you want, if you care about that.

im going from a 48" to possibly a 55" or 58". price diff between 55 and 58 is $30. both vizio same model line. im thinking might as well go big(ger). maybe

50" are at a really nice price right now. its a good size too. i think ill either do 58 or 50.

i think i barely started watching some stuff in 1080, had been mostly in 720. 4k is more of a future proof for me and well most tvs have it now. one thing i dont like about my current tv is the glare especially in dark scenes. i would hope a new one is better at that.

basically. i really was hoping i would find a dumb one but it looks like most/all tvs above 50" are smart tvs. at least that are readily available at best buy.

In response to Reply # 0

It uses the same technology as the QLED tv’s by Samsung and Sony that cost 3 times as much.

At first I was going to but the 55 inch that was $550 but knew I would regret it so I went big.

Size matters when it comes to the most used TV.

I still have 5 and 10 year old 36 inch TVs in the other rooms.

this is what worries me the most. theyre are many different technologies. many are just commercial spin but some really do make a difference.

i would think it would be better to get a decent size tv with the best technology than a tv at your max size with older technology.

I'm on my second one. The differences between a higher end Vizio and the other brands are usually pretty small and only noticeable when you look at them side by side. Not worth the price difference unless youre a real nerd.

Always just buy the next size up that youre not sure you need. You'll never regret it.

Dude at Best Buy said they use the same technology as the other new tv’s so I said fuck it.

I don’t regret my purchase at all.

I have a 50" M series from a few years ago, but with the new 55" for under $500...

There are Sony's and LG's for literally 3x as much money. I'm sure they are better but not 3x as good.

but nah i think 65" would be max and possibly overkill in my current space. probably moving in the next few months but i would expect the tv room to be around the same size. pretty typical size room right now.

no matter what kinda sales pitch you get.
A smaller screen with the best picture on the planet will still disappoint in a room that's too big for it.... IMO....

not sure i want to spend more than $350. i do question if i should go with something else that might save me more money or if there is a step up thats worth it under $500.

Legs spent $800 for HIS 65" VIZIO with no regrets...
I spent $1100 for MY 65" VIZIO with no regrets....
so.... I can't imagine you'll feel like you made a wrong move....
But DEF. check slickdeals.com for the upcoming black Friday ads...either that...or go ahead and cop now, but don't open the joint until the week after next just in case you come up on a better deal....

decided to pull the trigger on the 65"

man this thing is bigger than i could imagine. i did rearrange my living room some based on the dimensions for it but yeah seeing it in person just boggles the mind.

seeing my old tv after this one looks tiny and i was pretty happy with the size of it.

regarding 4k, it might be a bit premature but i think it is true that 720 vs 4k is not a huge difference. i was watching something yesterday and i was thinking this looks pretty nice. i checked what resolution it was and it was 720. im sure if i do side by side comparisons ill notice the differences but 720 is still really good.

this vizio watch free/pluto tv thing is kind of cool too. i didnt get to scroll through all the channels but i can see myself actually using it. i found myself watching catfish mexico lol

i guess ill put a bow on it for xmas lol

thank god i didn't get it. woulda been too big for the area over my fireplace where it would have been mounted. the 55" fits the space perfectly and IT looks giant. can't imagine an even bigger TV there.

it's this TV: https://www.lg.com/us/tvs/lg-55UM7300AUE-4k-uhd-tv

got it at costco. paid $379 plus tax. saw it at costco a month and half later (a week ago) for $349.

anyway, i really recommend LGs. i did a fair amount of research on different TV brands, and i feel like you get the most bang for your buck from them, plus their smart remote is great.

i think around this time of year you can get the 65" version of this TV for around $550 or less if you catch a great sale on it.

edit: it also has great sound. i hadn't bought a TV in about a decade and i'd heard because all the new TVs are so slim they have no room for good speakers so they all sound like shit and that's why you have to get a soundbar. thought'd i'd have to get a soundbar. psssh, my TV SLAAAAAAPs. at a low volume level (15) it puts out legitimate bass and the OVERALL sound is crisp.

shit, i was surprised too.

i'm not saying it's Jigga at MSG, but at just volume 30 (max 100) it's good house party volume with bass you can actually feel.

A few months ago, I told the little lady that I wanted to get us a new TV. We haven't had a new one in 10 years and I wanted something bigger for the new spot.

Off the dome, without doing any research, I budgeted about $1500 for a new 65-inch TV.

Imagine my surprise when I started seriously looking and saw some of these bad boys in the $500-$900 range. And with Christmas coming up, I should be able to get a fantastic deal.

not compared to 10 or so years ago. there are cutting edge ones with 8k and who knows what else that are still $2000 and above but $500 will get you something really nice. even $250 will.

>why are all tv's smart now?

I fail to see what a tv can do that a monitor with a smart attachment cannot do. Get a 27 to 34 inch monitor with two HDMI ports and thank me later. TV smart tech evolves too fast for me to invest in one. You could honestly get away without built in smart TV functionality and save money. I got an LG ultrawide 27' for $150.

26. "i dont like smart tvs"
In response to Reply # 25

at least i wouldnt buy one for the smart tv features. i think most smart tvs are cheaper than dumb tvs because they do literally spy on you.

i have a shield tv for streaming needs. im sure it spies as well but why double up the spying???

you can get a 43" tv for $150
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/insignia-43-class-led-1080p-hdtv/6319495.p?skuId=6319495

that 27" might be higher res though.

im looking for 50" and up though. monitors get pretty expensive at that size.

im not ready to let go of my antenna either. i am liking youtube tv but im not sure im really willing to pay $50 per month for it. it also doesn't have all local channels. how am i going to watch my mexico soccer matches without an antenna and without struggling with illegal links?

In response to Reply # 33

It makes sense purely from that angle. Someone with a 34 inch monitor might return to see his monitor there vs the tv getting lifted on site. Just upgraded to a 34 inch ultrawide so now I might belong in get robbed territory Uhoh.

You need 2 people to steal a 65 inch TV

and where do you live that theft is a concern?

A 55" TV has 36.9% more screen area than a 47".

A 65"inch TV has %39.7 more screen area then a 55".

I've never heard anyone complain that their TV is too big - only when it's too small.

Got it mounted on the wall. I love it, though sometimes debate if I should’ve went 75, lol. Though 65 to 70 or 75 seemed to be where there was really a price jump. So I guess that’s my answer - if we’re talking a couple hundred more, then that’s where it’s not worth it to me.
