I’m not able to listen to the album yet. His last project didn’t feel thorough and I don’t remember anything on it that compelled me to listen again.
Still, I’m always hopeful for any artist who’s put out high quality work before and I can even stand some “unfinished” work because creativity doesn’t always arrive by the dictates of the market.
His politics are troubling, to say the least, but I don’t expect to gain political insight from any pop star.
Everything has been figured out except how to live.

was acting a fool and crazy talking.... it was the total opposite IMO.... Not that I AGREE with him on pretty much anything....but he don't sound crazy anymore.... He has some very valid points...and they're virtually points that align perfectly with the whole "Group Think" buzzword that was being bandied about around these parts just a few years back....
I dunno... I don't feel strongly about dude one way or the other....but folks really cising things up surrounding this album release.... I WILL say it's better than whatever that stuff the rapper formerly known as Malice was putting out after he went all religious... And at least he's still trying to put out music at all.... Most rappers that went all religious just fell completely off the scene....

Hating okp because I read through this post and it set my expectations super low, which then set me up for the inevitable:
I am moved by Kanye's spiritual awakening and this is the best quality, most coherent, music he's put out in years.
Like, I have to fight to keep anger towards him in my heart right now. I wish this was the Kanye we got after Yeezus (which I actually liked.. his most unlistenable music to me was his last album, but according to him in that Big Boy interview that was his rock bottom mentally/emotionally, so)
I "never" thought I would come back around on Kanye. And I'm not even sure I fully have. But my own spiritual orientation resonates with the message he's spreading through this music and interviews/appearances since its release... and my natural response is empathy, forgiveness, and joy. I'm a fan of his music, full stop, including Ye which I enjoyed but really found it to be a deeply uncomfortable/dark album to listen to - it was like a critically acclaimed yet very unsettling movie you that shakes you to your core that you would never want to see again.
with current Kanye albums I approach the album from the top and play each track in 30 second chunks where I jump around the track to get a sense of the music.
I scanned each track, heard nothing that resonated with me and largely forgot about it.
Honestly, I think it's too much work to get into his headspace to appreciate the art and its not an investment I want to make right now, maybe in a few weeks or down the road. Right now I prefer music that hits me immediately. I'm not afraid of working for an album but not for this current version of Kanye.
