"PayPal got even worse (This would be a good article)"

Now if you refund a payment on PayPal they keep the transaction fee anyways. Because, why not, right???

So if someone sends you $100 for something you sold on eBay but you cancel it because it's obviously a scam you still have to pay PayPal their fee.

The only way to not do it is to send the item, wait for the scammer's money to disappear (via a charge-back or another mechanism), start an investigation and *if you win* then you get the fee back.

I found this out because someone paid me $917 on eBay and I cancelled the transaction because it seemed fraudulent.

Then PayPal took $917 out of my checking account (surprise!) to do the refund because I only had $892 in my account (since they took their fees.) So their's never a way to unwind a PayPal transaction anymore.

In conclusion: Fuck PayPal at least 6 times more today than yesterday.

I wanted to get started with PayPal developer to integrate payments onto some of my sites. From the beginning, I had login issues (with an account I created 60 seconds ago), permission issues and errors with the API, poor documentation, etc.

PayPal account was deleted with 1/2 of creation. Irked my so much I seriously looked into Square and Bitcoin payments as an alternative.

Ebay is moving towards handling payments themselves without PayPal, but they are introducing their own fuckery into it (like charging the transaction fee per item with an order as opposed to just once per order). They’ll probably mostly mirror whatever bs PayPal does.

I invoice my clients that way...send them an email requesting money, that literally email it back and payment is DONE.
No fees.
No limitations that I'm aware of...
I've accepted payments as high as $2800 if I recall correctly

go to your gmail account

click compose

in the compose email there is $ sign where the attach link is

once you click on it, a screen will come up and populate with a 0

at the top it will state Send or Request Money and at the bottom it state add debit/credit card

but make sure you add the person's email in the compose TO area

and there is no fees! I've been using it for 2 years straight after I dissolve Paypal, no issues and I get all my money.

take a message

If you sell, maybe you have to have an account, but otherwise it's just not worth having. I cancelled my account after probably having it open since like the late 90s and I've had no issue using alternative ways to buy shit.

and no longer have the 12-month interest free offerings, my use has diminished.
I DO still have it connected for stuff like my Parkmobile & other ride sharing type apps out of sheer convenience and a sense of security though.

I rely heavily on my eBay side hustle to pay bills and credit card debt so I hope this doesn't come back to haunt me. eBay and PayPal have split but PayPal is still the dominant way to pay for goods and it will be a while before more alternatives are introduced.

I'd like to believe I'm less prone to scams because I don't sell electronics, which seem to attract super shady people more than the used media (books/vinyl LPs) resell industry.
