"Let's talk INEOS:1:59 and Eliud Kipchoge... the greatest marathon runner"

Unfortunately, i didnt watch this live- but did watch the entire race soon after he broke the sub2hr barrier.
Unbelievable! 1:59:40

full video

the last minute or so are incredible!

What's even more amazing is that Kipchoge holds the current world record at 2:01:39
basically he just upped the stakes on his own 2:01 record
because every marathon runner will be training for a sub2 race from now until its achieved in competition.
incredible!

since 2003- the men's marathon record has stood in Africa
and since 2011, specifically in Kenya

And now....a Kenyan woman (Brigid Kosgei) just broke the women's record that has stood since 2003: new women's record is now 2:14:04

She's only 25... marathon runners only get better with age

let's just say I'm proudly kenyan, today!

because she deserves her own post.

https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2019/oct/13/brigid-kosgei-world-marathon-record-paula-radcliffe-chicago

Paula Radcliffe’s world marathon record, which has stood imperiously for over 16 years, has been obliterated by Brigid Kosgei at the Chicago Marathon. The 25-year-old Kenyan ran 2:14:04 to beat Radcliffe’s best of 2:15:25 by an astonishing 81 seconds.

He did 422 of them

What that pace looks like for a normal person on a treadmill:

I know he had a pace car and time displayed to tell him but to be down to the same second over the first 5k to the second 5k is wild.
