Eddie Murphy Calls His Previous Homophobic Comments 'Ignorant'
But not all the comedian's fans are happy with his remorse.

Eddie Murphy has expressed remorse over homophobic content that appeared in his early standup—and some are not happy with it!
The comedian, whose film Dolemite Is My Name is out on Netflix in October, sat down for an interview with The New York Times recently and he called his past material on AIDS and the LGBTQ community “ignorant.”
Murphy “wasn’t concerned about new scrutiny of his comedy,” the Times wrote. “He has been criticized for jokes on his specials that talked about fear of contracting AIDS from kissing gay men and used homophobic slurs…”
“He pointed out that he had been picketed and had apologized for material about AIDS that he now calls ‘ignorant’ beforeing adding, on the subject of anxiety by comics today: ‘All this stuff they are talking about: Hey, welcome to the club.’”
But not everyone on social media was happy that he apologized.
During a recent episode of Netflix podcast Present Company With Krista Smith, Murphy revealed he’d be hitting the road: “Next year, in 2020, I’m going to go on the road and do some stand-up.”

First off we allowed the gay community to attach their issues to ours.
Secondly LGBT gets all kinds of rights and protection and we don’t.
Lastly do you know the outcry or what would happen if a cop were to discriminate against a gay person and kill them intentionally without a cause?
The point that I originally made should be self explanatory. It’s silly to be demanding be to say sorry. During a comedy routine everyone is up for grabs... no one is safe.

Rights, freedoms, and laws have been passed for blacks and gays exclusively. Laws were passed for blacks to abolish slavery then desegregation (allegedly). Laws were passed for the protection of those who are LGBT. I am speaking to the fact there is all of this demand to watch the terms that you use regarding gays. If something is said then pressure is put on for some sort of apology. While some pressure is put on people who discriminate against blacks, that ends up becoming water under the bridge. The police are still killing and discriminating against blacks in 2019.
My point is (and still is) that no apologies by Murphy needed to be made. Especially about something from the 90’s. I don’t know what it is about people that make them dig up old stuff (especially about things that were said), and make it frontline news 20 or 30 years later. People need to start leaving the past where it is.
