and how dense it is

I game my mother in law a quote for a church website and the preacher pulled up on me throwing shade “you got all the money”

Real talk, I made sure my price was too high even though I still have them a break.

my suggestion would be to hire legs (if it is a good fit) to build out your foundation on squarespace and then you just maintain what is there.

below are couple of articles that can give you an idea of possible price ranges with pretty good breakdowns. keep in mind that with websites you could get a $500 quote and a $50,000 quote for the same project. not an exaggeration.

if it is more valuable for you to learn the ends and outs of some of these website builders and how to pick a template that works for your content and brand....then by all means go diy.

but what i think a lot of folks who go that route find out is that it would have been better for them to pay someone to build the foundation and then they just maintain what is already there.

solid. While I'd like to know how the website works....I don't necessarily want to be a website designer and put my energy into that.

my website game's on point but i'm not cheap though. lol

i do much more than just build sites. i get into my client's business strategies and really position myself to help solve whatever business problem they have that they believe the project is the solution for.

i'm solidly moving forward in that lane but have been considering how to offer some sort of service to the folks that hit me up that don't need nor can afford that level of service.

at a price point that makes sense for them as well as me.

most folks just move out of that lane eventually, as I have, because it just isn't profitable. i want to try to figure out a way for it to be. there are a lot of ideas that aren't gaining traction that probably could if presented differently.

If youre confused by it, spend a little bit of time learning it. Its not that hard and youll be able to do anything yourself in the future. Theres really not much of a market for these small one page mom and pop business sites anymore because of stuff like Squarespace or Wix or whatever. You'll likely get a better design using one of their templates than from hiring someone for a one off custom site which you probably dont need at all. And then youre beholden to that person to make any changes to it in the future.

And I say this as a designer who used to make these kinds of sites at one point.

as a designer, yeah you already have the fundamentals so spinning up your own squarespace site wasn't that difficult. but for someone without that foundation, even with the pre-designed templates diy can be difficult and worth paying someone to build the site for them...even for one page brochure sites.

isnt the entire point of it to let people who dont know how to make websites make a website? How hard can it be to pick a template and replace the images and text with your own stuff?

I guess my main point is don't get a custom site made. If you want to hire someone to make you a Squarespace site because youre not interested at all in it than do that.

just search 'website design' or 'website design (whatever template site you use)'. if you already have a pre-chosen template in mind then its even cheaper. look for foreign sellers from like india or pakistan or eastern europe or something. they tend to charge a lot less.

you can get something like a wix template customized for around $10 and delivered in like 2 days.

It can get more expensive if you need a custom design (if the person building doesn't do or like to do design and pays someone else to) and/or need it to run on a CMS (Content Management System) so that you can update it yourself. If not, you can get it cheap as a static website, but then you'd need to pay someone each time you need an update. A single page, no CMS and no custom design you can get for a few hundred bucks.
