Let me know if you want the link
Been riding a LOT.
That’s one thing that’s helpful about Texas, endless roads
Pretty sure I can hit this century mark, but I’m unsure
Gonna try for a 70 in two weeks
It would’ve been nice to have this weekend to ride but ... wedding to attend

Meanwhile the mass loss is real
I’m tempted to try this duathlon

And I was doing that for a month
But two weeks ago my mom came up on a come up a 2004 Cervelo and I’ve been on that for two weeks
The Trek is only 8 speed and the Cervelo is a 10-11 and it makes a world of difference
But last night I found out the front derailleur isn’t working and I found that out while climbing a 10% hill.

I run into this one old guy at least once or twice/week on the commute home and he rides one of these: https://www.steel-vintage.com/denti-spider-speed-bike-prototype-1990s-detail
I swear dude just hates on me because I'm on an e-bike and he makes it his duty to pass me at full speed....uphill....!!...and watch me in his lil bar end rear-view mirror for the full trek across the 14th bridge.

>And I was doing that for a month

Gearing is everything. Soon you'll be able to toy around with larger diameter front rings and wider custom cassette ratios to really dial in what works best for you. BIG assed ring up front and TINY ring in the back is the goal....watch them clearances of course....

>But last night I found out the front derailleur isn’t
>working and I found that out while climbing a 10% hill.
oh snap...literally lol....that'll put a hurting on you something awful.

right now, i'm just scared

my brain goes right to "i probably have 3 months to live" even though i know that's a ridiculous leap to make

i'm also tired of people telling me "don't be scared' like that's supposed to comfort me. however i just nod...i'm not gonna chastise someone for trying to be supportive

any way, thanks for listening..i guess that's all i can ask anyone for right now

no matter the results....take this as an opportunity to reflect on your life path. i know so many people who have built some of the most meaningful things in their lives post cancer scare or positive diagnosis.

the key to happiness is not being rich;
it's doing something arduous and
creating something of value and then
being able to reflect on the fruits of your labor

One of the images was in the warehouse and it was just an image, small, for the subject
Unfortunately the image, machine cart, equipment piece, who knows had a confederate flag on it and needed to be pulled immediately.
Bad look
Which got into a conversation about how people are so sensitive now to be offended
Which then led me to tell them that the flag offends me, always has, always will, that it’s rise in use came up directly in response to civil rights and you see where this conversation is going

A whole lot of what about this, or opinions that, but I pushed back precisely on their shit by saying “hey, as engineers we follow the data right? And all of these anecdotal things you’re saying about race, the data doesn’t support it”

In response to Reply # 0

apparently its to be used in any parking situation even if your car is an automatic. not only when on an incline, not only when you are doing work on the car. if you park you engage the parking brake.

yes?

im trying to get myself to remember to do this each time.

My girl (from the south) doesn't. Irks the hell out of me because I can feel the car rocking back and forth because the brake isn't on.

She also parks 12-18 inches from the curb sometimes so maybe it's a southern thing. I park like 0.25" from the curb, turn the wheel towards the curb and use the brake.

they passed like, in december of last year.

i was up late last night feeding the kid when I got instagram to look up someone i havent thought about in years and I see that they posted a photo of another person I havent thought about in years....the caption was something like "RIP" so I was like....HANH?!

Then I asked a friend from that time I still talk to and was given the run down. old girl had overdosed from opioids and I have been spending parts of my day scouring the web to find anything about her death. its got me fucked up even though I havent seen her in over 15 years.

I think its because she was on her way and smart but also into partying.

ugh. fuck this shit.

41. "Being perpetually single as you grow older "
In response to Reply # 0

I have never really been able to form relationship (period). My family relationships are weak and abnormal. I keep in touch zero people from high school (was an outcast in high school) and zero people from college (the loner; slept in the library many times). Me being single was justifiable back then because people saw me as the smartly pants focused on school. But now at 35, family interactions are even more awkward because they whisper about the fact that I have been single for 35 years. Reconnecting with people from my years in LA is hard because the first question that they asks is either 'are you married' or 'do you have kids'?

I don't want to get defensive about it, and I certainly don't want to share my hurts and failed attempts at having a romantic relationship to these people who I am not even close to (I have posted about these failures here more often than I have spoken about it to anyone in my real life).

I just don't know what to do, what to say, how to navigate around it. It didn't happen for me like it does for most people. And at this age it aint going to happen. I am hoping that the questions will die off as I get even older. I hope this is something that people stop asking at some age. I just gotta make it to that age.
