I Think Sunday Service informed the project.

The one he was working on last year when he went to Uganda has basically leaked so I think he hasn't tripped because those songs did not make this album in the form we hear them out now.

I just hope is good... because no one who has turned to religion has made better music than what they did before jesus juice

Sunday Service could maybe influence the direction he went
but he also made an album called Yeezus and The Life Of Pablo started with a gospel song before going immediately left from there

I think his intent is to make provocative statements that don't necessarily reflect album themes

hell, Kendrick has made more songs with the theme of God than Kanye has

Like I said, going through the things hes gone through and as manic as he is becoming super jesus-y was a natural, almost cliche, progression for him.

So I bet his interest in religion is sincere, (well as sincere as Prince, Madonna, Larry Graham, etc.)

But it looks like dude is going Full Jesus-y which doesn't make for good music for someone who isn't that immersed in it.

It will probably end up like Lauren Hil learning to play guitar or Common discovering Jimmy Hendrix. That is, he will think he is doing something new an exciting and people who it ain't new to will find it not as interesting as people who've been doing the work for a minute.

I already don't trust super jesus-y folks from jump. They tend to try wayyyy too hard. So this big conversion of his isn't convincing to me.

Being a jerk & then making grand proclmations about finding Jesus & changing your ways doesn't mean jack to me. The best thing to do is shut your mouth, walk the walk and talk the talk.

The polarizing artist is releasing a new project on September 27 that will reportedly be a gospel album. One writer shares a theory as to why Kanye might be so dedicated to spirituality.

he is simply an amalgam of the people around him. the people who write, produce, and flesh out the conceptual vision from scratch. the real talent.

when he was around mikkey halsted he made mikkey halsted music. when he was around rhymefest he made rhymefest music. when he was around justin vernon he made justin vernon music. when he was around travis scott he made travis scott music. when he was around francis starlite he made francis starlite music. when hes around church folks he makes church folks music.

theres no deep evolution or unwinding journey (s/o double0 lol). dude just slaps his brand name on the commodity of others who make an impression on him.

i personally think his journey towards the church and a heightened sense of his own spiritual power has to do with his bipolar mania. i think this album is nothing but his ego being expressed just like all of his other albums have been. his ego is fixated on religion at the moment so that is the output. i don't think it is some master plan to win back his lost fan base. i think it is just a natural progression of his unchecked delusion.

I partially agree....

But he is always in the drivers seat.. he is a curator... the people around him become his muses..

Its how you get justin vernon and nicki minaj
Esthero, cudi and japanese taiko drums

I haven’t read the think peice and usually hate them anyway though..

Reeq is prolly spot on but I don’t care who influenced or worked with him to make each album.

It’s his product. This is no different than bands who work with different producers each album and craft different sounds.

I just watched a documentary on Chicago and they had so many changes, different sounds, Rock, horns, ballads... it’s still Chicago.

Same applies to Ye and other artist.

What matters is if the shit is hot.

It ain’t been too hot lately.

hopping on trends and producers and playing the curator.
the thing is, the shit she and he hops on never is as fresh or dope after it gets their mainstream-plastic treatment.

he doesn't just sample any gospel music, some of the stuff he uses is exactly the gospel stuff producers like budgie, alchemist or j.rocc been using for a minute now.
he gave it a twist by performing it live with the choir and the cult like aesthetics.

Like pair up a Kanye song with the producer he was working with at the time and the type of music that artist/producer is known for.

Like I hear certain songs and can just here Rhymefest or Consequence but I don't know the other producers like that.
