I'd guess they were probably aware on some level that they were getting Death Row as part of the $4 billion purchase, but probably didn't give it much of a thought.
Very strange trip for eOne fka Koch (as in Koch Records). From wrestling videos to Pokemon cards to solo albums by members of Bone Thugs to Peppa Pig to Hasbro.

I wonder if it's related to the repeated lawsuits from Harry O, and the fact that he's getting (or has gotten?) released soon, and will likely make his own move for the catalog...
Seems like Dre and Jimmy would have long since ponied up, though.

No idea what they are but ..
It may be as simple as, he just doesn't want to revisit that time in his life, and would rather leave well enough alone. Coming from Dre that wouldn't surprise me at all.

If you look and see what eOne owned, it makes sense to purchase for all the holdings, such as The Walking Dead, Fear Of The Walking Dead, Trailer Park Boys, Rookie Blue, Transformers, Peppa Pig, PJ Masks, Dualtone Records, Death Row Records, EMP Label Group (which puts out hard rock & metal artists), and many other film studios as well.
This wasn't just about Death Row Records, Hasbro now owns all of the music that came out on Koch Records too, all those film & tv shows and can now market tons of merchandise for those items; that was a great deal for them.
