Peter Parker is a depressed nerd. Holland way too chipper.

Tobey was a good 1960’s Peter. Garfield was closer to the version I grew up with.

really? First time I've ever heard this description of the character...as depressed, that is.
But then again I never really read Spidey that much.

Tobey's acting looked like an SNL parody.
Andrew looked like the coolest kid in school, playing a nerd that girls didn't like.
Holland is perfect for the role imo.

TBH the fact that you're even a mod here fits squarely within Jag's narrative of OK-sanctioned aggression, bullying, and toxicity. *shrug*

It's not entirely Garfield's fault. I liked the interplay between Pete and Gwen, but Pete was written as a coolish mopey loner. Pete would not have a longboard.

Maguire was closer to the Pete we saw in the 80s. Older, unlucky, always trying to make ends meet, but always loved MJ. The movies made him a shade dorkier, but it fit with Rami's aesthetic. Symbiote infected Emo Pete was just a bad choice.

Having Holland written as a young Pete seemed like the smart thing to do to introduce him as part of the MCU. He's written with the right mix of teen wonder, angst and responsibility that any kid who could stop a bus with his bare hands would have. Seeing Pete struggle between wanting to be a normal teen, and hang with his nerd friends, but have the 'great power/responsibility' superhero gig to do is played perfectly
