I mean, easy for me lol. Basically keeping this forum alive as time moves on takes specialists at this point. The guy who wrote it wants nothing to do it (We asked). So it's basically just me - I actually read the PHP behind this site like ten years ago and can find my way around.
But yeah - the normal tech support process was like ????. Then I offered to help and fixed it in about a day.

I wonder if there’s a way to switch to a different system while preserving the archives and current discussions for the long term. The thought of that process makes me hyperventilate, however.

May take a moment for caches to clear but as of this comment, all HTTP traffic should be redirected to HTTPS.
Also the board should be overall noticeably faster as I've upgraded much of the tech behind the site to modern version. Hopefully it remains true as traffic increases.

It's like when you have a friend you see all the time hanging around but you don't know where they live or their relatives, and the next day you don't see or hear from them for a few weeks, and you start to think the worst but then one day they show back up and you like "where the hell you been" and they say "oh, I was sick", and you go "ooooohhhhh, glad to see you doing well & shit".
That's how I felt about the boards, some twitter-heads were like "stop bullshittin' us and tell us the truth" while I was like nah mane, I don't think they would do that to us like that; and I was right.

I've, over the last few months, been staying away from all other social media outlets. LinkedIn being an exception because I'm looking to find a gig right now.
Once and if this place ever shuts down for good, I truly believe that I'm done with social media altogether.

today when i clicked on it i was still doubtful
i knew it was back on yesterday because when i googled okayplayer the board option was listed. it had disappeared while it was down. (yeah some websites i still type the name in google instead of the actual url😔 )

i don't know most people's @'s but the few I do were very much in the "welp...end of an era? I guess????" and it was incredibly melancholy. Twitter is my regular news checker/time waster, but okp is the old reliable, and having the rug pulled from under --even as I mostly lurk ptp and sports-- was still wildly unsettling and I definitely felt the void
